I am so grateful that my husband believes me when I told him his mother is a narcissist. All the puzzle pieces fell in place one day because my narcissistic mother in law was giving herself away with tripping up in her own lies. Since then I have gone no contact.

Block, delete and go no contact forever. Don’t let the devil back into your life. They’ve already done enough damage, no need for anymore.

What would "no contact" look like if I'm married and still living with a vulnerable narc with my 3 kids? Maybe I'm already doing it, but I wanted to know what else I could be doing. We're both practicing being in silence. His reason is for punishment, and mine reason is to set boundaries and protect my mental health. We're currently 2 strangers living in the same house and parallel parenting the kids. Any advice you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Ahhh…the whole “calling a meeting”. Thanks for bringing that up. A couple months ago my brother asserted that “…I can guarantee you that 3 of your siblings and our parents can join you with your counsellor”…to basically straighten out my faulty thinking around the past 6 years of their shunning of me. It kinda felt like I was being ganged up on. Certainly unsafe.

@@tamiemjoyce yes…I had spotted that video today…which led me to watching more. I resonated with being the blame for events I had nothing to do with. Younger sister, diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder, had decided to go off her meds and thus go off the rails mentally. At that point I had had nothing to do with her for 2 years as she had become pretty abusive before that. The parents decided I was to blame for her stopping her meds. Even after younger sister told them I had nothing to do with it years later…they still assert that it had to be my influence because “…you are a nurse”🤪🤷‍♂️

@@annetteselent It sounds to me like they may be projecting their own shortcomings and inadequacies as parents and caretakers onto you. The sad truth is you'll never win with people who see you and reality through such a distorted lens. Keep your distance and go be happy!

Comparison is the thief of joy. A narcissist will steal your joy, because all they do is compare themselves to the world. They will always come out on the top of their list, and you will never win. I realize they're praising a false identity. I'm going to be honest with myself and so ultimately there are no winners or losers. It's a painful realization, but it's one of the most powerful experiences a person can have on the road to freedom. A narcissist may never respect you, but when they see the Joy and Gratitude you have for life, they'll run away from you.

It's harder for a man who's being abused by a female narcissist. They can threaten a man with calling police for alleged abuse. Most times police will believe a female especially one skilled in gaselighting and lying. So a man is already a step behind when trying to exit this horrible situation.
@rvh77
@rvh77 10 ай бұрын
It's true. I actually went to the police after my narc wife physically abused me. She's half my size and weight, so for me to lay her out flat with one hit would be no problem, but I knew better and wasn't raised like that. When I showed cops where I was bleeding from being clawed and scratched, they didn't even flinch. They said there was nothing they could do. I walked out of the police station more confused and disgusted. One of the officers followed me outside and said that he was talking to me as not a cop, just one man to another, knowing what he knew. He had dealt with a similar situation and basically just need to get out of the relationship. It's not going to get any better. I could tell he believed my account of what was going on, but basically the outlook was grim. Just move on. It sucks, but the last thing you need is legal trouble, especially when it's totally not your style.

Good point same here. as soon as you speak against her and she doesn't like it and i yelled too now I know I shouldn't have, she's calling the police for alleged abuse and then trying to talk to her about the packages she's stealing I had to yell and threaten to call the police on her otherwise she wants to steal my packages and hold them until I come and ask for them so she can get what she wants out of me. I told her no give me my packages or ill report you to detective I had to yell through the door 4 times otherwise she wouldn't answer the door and says go away or ill call the police. Unbelievable.

I'm not sure agree, respectfuly. I was blindsided as was my whole family on Dec 9, and after a near suicide on Dec 3. The 9th is when I found out by accident he was behind his family bullying just short of threats. They are making my life hell. All I can do is the next right thing. And the next right thing..and protect myself in the mean time

Tamie, I never heard anyone else have to deal with " call a meeting" my daughter in law has done this. It's "holding court" and gives her the opportunity to tell me in my own home how it is my fault I don't see the grandchildren . Then 2 years later wants another meeting. No thank you!

I love this video because it doesn't just state and re-state the problem which leads to self-pity, but offers solutions. I particularly like "#8 Up Level Your Image and Status." Shallow, at first glance, but this is necessary, not only for narcissists, but for all other interactions. I hope you can create a separate vid on #8. Thanks, Tammie!

What is your advice if this is happening to you with your only child that you raised alone who married a narcissist? They are only 22 and 23 years old. Now they have two babies under 3 years old and the narcissistic behavior of abuse is being done to my grandson! I am beyond furious. This is the fifth time they have cut me off because they don't like what I say or the advice that I give. What is your advice when this comes to your children and estrangement because of the narcissistic spouse?

Straightforward, no nonsense, encouraging and realistic. Tamie makes it clear that the narcissist is more powerful the more you are NOT powerful. As a matter of fact tackling a workplace narcissist, I avoided contact only to have her gossip, slander and undermine me. I'm still wondering why only a couple of others saw this. I think there's a rancid element of narcissism which has been standardised in our culture - it's "normal" to be out of whack. And, I'm from Australia which is famous for down to earth relating! So, being on the watch is even more important even though it can be a lonely path- that's the other thing, though: do you want to be you or part of the crowd? Thanks Tamie.

Brilliant. This is insanely accurate. You have to learn to take inner strength and protect this as a precious commodity. Then, feed their ego. Their EQ is built around cheap thrills and 'uppers' because essentially, these are very insecure people that need to be constantly reassured. I've made it my mission to know everything but not show anything. Play the game, know worth.

I will be spending a Christmas dinner with my n-sister and her family. Our last few contacts had her flying off the handle for no good reasons. I'm going because I like her husband and my nieces and nephews of that family. I sent her a text accepting the invitation but also set a boundary that if anything becomes tense I will simply leave. I said I wanted a peaceful and calm holiday for all. She sent a text back which I didn't read fully but it seemed as if she acknowledged it. We shall see what happens. Btw, I have gone limited contact with her this past year, not answering texts, emails or phone calls. I can't go fully no-contact for a few reasons as other siblings just don't understand and invite us both to family events. My sister knows that I know and she is quite intelligent in her targeting tactics including scapegoating me for her negative feelings which can arise at any moment. One thing I can do to not react to her is to take a medical marijuana tincture which helps to alleviate negative emotional response. It works quite well!

Ive just had an email from a sadistic narcissist, (who i complained to Health and Disability for the third time about my drs office manager). She wants to have a mediation session with me and a third party.....and sent "warmest regards". I made it clear to Health and Disability that i didnt want any mediation as i know it wouldnt get us anywhere, as she is a compulsive liar and is sadistic in with holding medications i need on a monthly basis. Watching your vlog helps to ground me. Im going to send an email to her bosses in another city to let them know of her "power and abuse" over patients who are truly suffering. My wish is that she is replaced by someone authentic and empathetic, who keeps to office work and doesnt overstep her job. The nurses and drs should be taking care of the patients but of course, narcissists have to control everything and everyone. Thankyou so much. Jo❤

Tamie, this is exactly what has happened to me recently. My evil Narc Father is trying to insinuate himself back into my life after literally tormenting and terrorising my young daughter and I (and decades of narc abuse to the whole family). My Mother is seriously unwell. My daughter and I "disappeared" from his sphere of influence, and he clearly couldn't manage not knowing where we were, what we were doing etc for many months. So, therefore he makes contact: a message full of palaver. I know it's all for his benefit and there is no genuine remorse for the despicable way he treated us. But, for my Mother't sake I will have to respond in some sort of positive way though I thoroughly resent his conditions to "make peace" to "catch up". I don't want anything to do with him at all and certainly not on his terms. I would love some advice. Many thanks 🥰
