If 7,500 crores are being used to control inflation, does this include the ration goods smuggled out the back door to be sold to profiteers. Many times a lot of items are out of stock, and if anyone were to ask questions, they may always get low rations. Instead of wasting tax payers money on these ration shops, looting, corruption and wasteful salaries, why don't the Tamil Nadu just use the private sector for distribution. There are shops at every villages now, big or small. You save money on procurement and distribution departments. Just allot the funds to the shops in the village and they will do the rest up till the distribution. Try this and you'll know how much money has been wasted looting and falsifying accounts.

Now a days one cannot easily smuggle the goods because of the introduction of the fingerprint associated smart card distribution system. So the govt can easily have an track on the data. I'm not saying that the system is completely fine and there is no corruption. The system has corruption but it is scrutinized from the past days overnight get rid of corruption is not at all possible these changes can definitely bring changes

To prevent leakage, we can give rations based on fingerprint. We can prevent leakages 100%. But what about old people whose fingerprints sometimes don't work? Should the system ban them from getting food grains? There is some risk called affordable risk. At the cost of losing some goods to leakage, we can ensure that even the extremely disadvantaged people are not prevented from getting food grains due to biometrics not working. That should be the priority of any government.

@@muraliprasathkuthalingam7133 Let's lay it out. The government procures the paddy from the farmers. Almost 30% of it is accounted as wasted. Infact 5-10% are really wasted due to improper storage, corrupt officers accepting substandard paddy. Rest going to the politicians and the goons down the line. Rice tagged unfit for consumption are sold to the distilleries for Rs1 per kg, when they are procured at about Rs 19 per kg with the tax payers money. The rest are processed and distributed as rice to the ration shops. Delta farmland accounts for most rice production of Tamil Nadu. Rice can be stored to over 20yrs. Does the government have stock for the people of TN for 20 years. On top of corruption, the costs involved in the process, the wages of workers & officers, transportation, and whole departments just to run and manage these inefficient machinery. On top of paying for the goods, the bill has to include the others costs and trouble of managing corrupt staff. Going private, the public would have the choice to purchase goods of quality. They will go to the shops that offer quality products and not be shoved in their face whatever there is by the ration shops. People are getting rice from the allotment and selling to shops at Rs 7, which in turn are being sold from Rs 11 to Rs 13 depending on their quality. And in turn they buy a better quality rice from those shops, mainly produced from other states. The corruption machinery is the only equipment that is well oiled and functioning at it's best like always.
