Tamiya 1/48 German Aircraft Power Supply Unit w/Luftwaffe Crew - Kit Review

Reviewing Tamiya's, 1/48 scale, 2010 release, German Aircraft Power Supply Unit model kit, No. 89768, a co-operative effort by Tamiya, and ICM of Ukraine.
Originally released in 2006, as Tamiya's "German Power Supply Unit & Kettenkraftrad" model kit, No. 32533, the reviewed kit, includes 8 Luftwaffe figures in various poses, with a dog, from ICM, and, along with the 3 Luftwaffe figures, included in the original Tamiya kit, makes a total of 11 (actually 12, see the note below) Luftwaffe figures in all. Also included is, naturally, the Power Supply Unit, as well as the Kettenkraftrad, fuel drums, and other accessories, such as a trolley fire extinguisher. Each figure comes with separate arms, legs, heads, and torsos.
NOTE: There are, in reality,12 figures included in this kit. The extra figure being the Wehrmacht driver from the original Tamiya 1/48 scale Kettenkraftrad kit, "German Kettenkraftrad w/Infantry Cart & Goliath Demolition Vehicle" released in 2004, under Kit No. 32502.
Highly recommended for an modeller interested in creating a Luftwaffe airfield diorama.

What is the most common scale for military aircraft models.? Btw another nice review!

Hi mate, glad you liked the review. Most common scale? Now that's a question. Guess it depends on your budget, and, your shelf space, more than anything else.... 1/144 scale. The smaller scale allows for a wide range of aircraft types. Not as much individual detail, like separate wheels, flaps, cockpit interiors, etc. as larger scales, but does allow you to have bigger aircraft, like airliners, bombers, etc without needing massive shelf space. 1/72 scale. Being bigger they need more shelf space, but, they also get better detailing, and "add-on" kits for diorama's etc., like vehicles, and airfield crews, and accessories. 1/48 scale. Bigger again, with a lot more small details, and a lot of After Market add-ons, and probably the scale that has the highest number of manufacturers catering to it. 1/32 scale. Bigger again. Not as wide a selection of aircraft types, but more capacity for finer details, but they will fill your shelf space up much quicker. 1/35 scale. The latest trend in scales to match with the huge range of 1/35 scale military kits on the market. Really nice detailing, but not cheap to buy. And will take up a reasonable amount of space on the shelf. The smaller scales are, naturally, the most popular, but if you're into fine detailing your kits, the bigger scales, allow you to "go wild" so to speak. Know this didn't quite answer your question, but, I don't think there is an easy answer to which is the most popular aircraft scale. Everyone has their own preference. Cheers!
