I'm going to get into this RC hobby and the first car I'm going to get is the HPI Ford Gt3 Heritage. I collect Hot Toys 1/6 scale high end figures and statues and I really enjoy that hobby but I feel I need to get into another hobby and that's RC, this car is amazing by the way.

Hi Glenn! Great find buddy! This is the exact same car I bought back in 1996! I still have it! Trouble is, the body is beyond repair after all those years of crashing it! So it now has a Subaru Mexico body on it - you may have seen it on my channel, I did a couple of vids on how I restored it and fitted the Scoobie shell. I wanted the Escort shell, but too expensive for me! The chassis has lasted really well, it is still stock and runs like a dream! Take a look at my latest beach run video, it is amazing on the stock shocks, so much suspension travel! The strange angle of the rear wishbones is stock, it was so you could reverse them for a longer wheelbase for different models. Yours also has an upgraded steel propshaft. The original tyres were amazing off road, but I wore through the tall sidewalls in the end! I still have the stock wheels though. If you have any questions about the TA, I may be able to help! All the best, Mark. :)

I'm not a ford fan AT ALL, but, I don't mind these Escorts. Back in 05/06 My uncle invited me to go RC racing but I didn't have a car, so he lent me his Michelin/Pilot Escort to race. The track was in a shed in a park with a very smooth cement floor in the middle of winter so it was pretty cold. First time racing in 20 odd years or so, didn't do too bad. First race I was in the lead by more than a lap and the battery died with about 30 seconds to go and I DNF'd. After that there was at least one win and a 2nd. Not a bad little car, it served me well until I bought a TA05.

Very interesting. I've got one of these on a TA-01 with all original analogue electrics and it looks unused but the original owner just painted it in plain metallic blue rather than using any of the rally stickers. I got it from a chap at work for next to nothing when he was having a clear out. I've since realised that it might be worth a few quid so I haven't run it either and it's just looking nice on my shelf! It did have the original wheels but the tyres had perished. You are right in saying that the original wheels it had were smaller than the ones you can get now. I bought a set of the same ones that you did and put the standard rally block tyres on. Anyway all the talk of it being worth money makes me wonder if it's worth that to just be an ornament on the shelf !

Thing is, Tamiya was still about being as true to real as possible, and back then, 16" was as big as Wheels got on real Cars, with taller Sidewalls.... You definitely didn't look too hard for one. I sold my tiger stripe last year on Ebay. Totally bog standard with the original wheels and tyres .it was a shelf queen, boxed with instructions, 2 cracks to the front bumper when he put the shell on another car. What doesn't make sense to me is.......if you sell a kidney for decals, you don't want the correct wheels and tyres, and you don't even have to look for them. It really needs the proper wheels and tyres no matter what. The rear driveshafts are meant to be like that, one of the differences between the ta01 and ta02.
@TAMIYALegends5 жыл бұрын
Mikey mike Yeah I guess what I really should of said is, I really couldn’t afford the extra cash for them. I’m not and never have been a Tamiya purist so as long as it’s close enough them I’m happy. Decals on the other hand are different, the MCI ones aren’t colour correct and you would definitely see that, so that extra cost is worth it for me. I have to run this channel on a tight budget and also operate a one in, one out system. So whatever money I put into them I have to make sure I can get back buddy. Thanks for watching...
@mikeymike32405 жыл бұрын
@@TAMIYALegends I'm no purist, like yerself, one in one out. The ta01/ ta01 and cc01 chassis are my favourite chassis. I used to race the ta01 and ta01 touring cars for years, we raced them out of the box to give everyone a fair chance as a few of us came from racing 1/10 buggies. It was slow, but great fun to see the kids keeping up with the veterans and the veterans passing them on the corners, they were the days. Some of the other veterans wanted to introduce esc's , 27 turn motors,they got it, then a modified class as well, really ruined the club and the racing.

That car is awesome! I had one back when they were first released but it wasn't as fast as my old Tamiya Fire Dragon and I ended up selling it. Big regret!

If the wing was unicorn poo, the original wheels and tyres are even rarer, I have one or two escort Tamiya in my collection, you forgot to mention the WRC Kankunen escort.

steven Wilson Thanks for watching buddy 👊🏻 Yeah I should of mentioned that one, I was more focused on the original cosy’s with the whale fin wings.

Cool, they also released a XB kankunen edition with a TT01 RTR chassis, I got one to compare, the bodyshell is made of extremely brittle plastic compared to the original TL01 edition, The first crash resulted in the front end literally cracking like an egg into loads of bits, fixed it though, used a TBG donor shell and replaced the front end with it.

steven Wilson How did you find the TBG shell?
@stevenwilson57375 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t great and especially bad from the rear the back bumper was flat!! Not convinced, however, L&L make a replica body now of the original pilot bodyshell, I got one last week and I can tell you it’s cock on identical to the Tamiya counter part, the decals aren’t correct but the bodyshell is flawless.
