What a beautiful car, my dark impact did this . Just put an o ring in the drive cup and no worries. I've got a soft spot for the old English Ford's, we had the same escort called an RS 2000 in Australia and lots of people hotted them up even I nearly bought one but I've got a Mopar V8 addiction. Happy Easter to you guys and thanks for the great video.

Hi Peter, always great to read your comments my friend! Yep, you got it, an O ring did the job, also reduced the preload by cutting the coils down a tad, now it's just fine! Oh, the RS 2000 was a peach of a car! But I never experienced a V8, I bet I'd be addicted too. Happy Easter to you and yours, mate, take care! :)

Hiya matey. Ah well it was nice while it lasted. The angle on the suspension arms does look really steep. I remember all the trouble you had with getting it to work properly on that setting. I think you'll be fine if you change it to the lower ride height and adjust the body to suit. Anyway it's great to see Rob and Alf there joining in with the fun. Been nice weather today and it looks pretty good for the whole weekend so hoorah for that. I did a little bit of RC on the beach today but a bit busy to do any videoing. Not sure what we're doing for the rest of the weekend but hopefully RC and beer. Hope you're having a good one. Cheers for now 😁
@MarkBryanRC2 жыл бұрын
Hiya matey! Hehe, yeah, it was nice while it lasted, that's what she said! Yep, that suspension angle is a killer and never a good way to drive a wheel, too much stress on those balls! I've sorted it now with extra O-rings and chopping a coil of each spring, it was WAY too stiff, so it sits lower now as a rally car should, instead of at the top of the suspension stroke. Whatever you end up doing this weekend, I hope you have a nice long weekend with a few well earned beers. All the best, Pete! 😉👍👍

Hi Mark, Don't know if you remember, back when you first started this kit, I did warn you about those dogbones popping out. I fixed mine by putting one of the unused Tamiya bushes behind each of the rear output drive cups. There's still enough spline on them to engage with the diff but they stick out by an extra 4 or 5 millimetres and the dogbones are more secure. Hope this helps.

I have my beetle on its highest height and ran into same issue, even with o rings in. I had to move the rear upper "control arm" aka metal rod onto the lower setting so it wouldn't droop as much when weights taken off the rear (when the issue occurs) and has been gravy and bashing since!

Ah, you got the whole gang together, very nice, Mark! It certainly makes for a nice Saturday morning entertainment for me, especially hearing old Rob being cheerful. Have a great Easter there, my friend!

Hi Mark, shame the run ends early. If you look at it from the rear the left side hangs lower than the right as I think some catches on the right side preventing the same amount of droop. I’ve personally not had the driveshaft fall out but I’d look at o-rings/fuel line solution it maybe even uj’s ? It did look damn cool on the dirt though ;) take care
@MarkBryanRC2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, Yeah, I was a bit miffed when we had to cut the run short. You are right about the rear droop. I got it sorted now, reduced the length of the shocks a few mil and cut a coil off each spring to reduce the preload, sits good now! Another O-ring added and all is good. Thanks mate, but I think I gave the looks to Alfie! 😂 This chassis ain't bad, but it's not brilliant, either. I'd stick to the TT02S for rallying if I were you. Mark I am sure happy I found your channel!!! My son and I do RC together. Local hobby shop has a great Fun Rally Series with the typical rule set that the Tamiya platforms all fit into. Then I started looking at Tamiya's in general and man do these look like great fun. Affordable compared to our TLR and AE race rigs which I am probably going to sell to do a bit cheaper racing. Tamiya's really fit the bill. Love your vids, rally runs, reviews and platform comparisons. They help a lot as we try to figure out which rally chassis to start with. TT02 being the most cost effective probably will get the nod. CVA's of course and steel ball bearings. These are great and your vids are a great RC fix! Would you be able to recommend the TT02 for starting out in rally racing vs the other platforms? Do you think any of the others fare better at that price? Thanks again for all your great content! Bye!!! ;) Jimmy from the states

Hi Jimmy from the states, I'm glad you found my channel, too - thanks for the great comment! Great to hear you are into RC with your son, it's a fantastic hobby for family and friends. As for your question, yes, the TT02 is a good platform considering the price, lots of cool features and endlessly upgradable! You have mentioned the most important hop-ups. If you can find one, the TT02 Type-S is my pick for affordable rallying. It has so many improvements over the stock TT02 and isn't that more expensive. I have videos showing this chassis in rally setup, it beat my XV01 in a head to head! Anyway, whichever way you go, I wish you and your son many happy RCing hours together. Cheers! :)

Hi Mark, what a shame the dogbone popped out. I've seen another video before now where this happened on this car. Is it a Tamiya design fault ? Nonetheless raising up the suspension as you suggested should cure it. At least we got some footage of this icon. I totally love the shape of that bodyshell and I think the blue decals and wheels make it look cooler still. An excellent combo. Loved every minute of this footage mate and a shame it was cut a little short, but a least I can look forward to 'the first run, part 2'. Is that even legal within the rigid protocols of RC videos ?😂😂. Have a good one pal...👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.
@MarkBryanRC2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate and a very Happy Easter to you too! Yep, it sounds like the issue I had is common on these chassis in high ground clearance setting. Definitely a design fault, as I built mine as per instructions. However, there were problems that made it worse, I found that one of those cheap shocks was too long and all had far too much preload, even on the lowest setting. So I chopped a coil off each spring and sorted the lengths out, added an extra O-ring and now it drives great! Glad you enjoyed the footage, Alf is a pro on that camera! Got a few more filming sessions out of him before he goes back to uni. Haha, I don't care about RC video protocols, I'm calling it "First Run Part 2"!!! 😂 All the best, pal! 😊👍

Why can’t tamiya make a m car size xv-01
@MarkBryanRC2 жыл бұрын
Well, Joe, they do some cracking M-chassis versions, especially the concept ones, but alas, this is the only 4WD version! Cheers!

@@MarkBryanRC I found someone making some carbon fiber boards for XV-01 to turn it into a M chassis, but everything is fully open, I don’t think it’s a good option for rally cars. Cleaning my fully open TA-02s after I played it is such an annoying thing, and it’s really hard to find spare parts for it. Anyway, I’m very interested in the brand new XV-02.

@@workingjoe898 I totally agree with you about open-chassis. And yeah, that new XV02 looks very cool!

You know this body will fit on an mo8 chassis.

Great MF01x video! I got one myself and still in the box though. I have yet to build it. Right now though, I have been enjoying Tamiya's XV01 platform a lot. You hay check my rally videos on my channel if you like. Cheers again!

Thanks very much! You will enjoy building the MF-01X, it's a very easy but pleasurable build. I just popped over and watched your XV-01 video, very good my friend! Cheers!
