I have those pink shocks on my M-01 mini. They used to come with plastic C spacers to allow smaller springs to fit, and to adjust pre-load. M little M-01 still goes very well - a 1400 battery lasts 45 mins with ball bearings and an LRP speed control with a power adjustment setting. :)

Glenn, the blue springs are correct for those shocks ( i still have a NIP set for a vintage touring car build eventually) but you need a couple of parts off the 'V' parts sprue. You need V7 all round to set the spring rate and V6 screwed to the bottom of the rear's to make them longer. I built the michelin pilot version for my younger brother in 96 but the car was never run. The box for it is in my mums attic but the car is no where to be seen. I'm gonna make a determined effort to try and find it 👍

Wahey!! Only 5 years late to the party!! Heyup Glenn, just to let you know that, believe it or not, those coloured springs were actually a proper Tamiya Touring Car hop-up for those very shocks… They’d usually have a screw-adjustable spacer at the top to set the preload… Just so you know mate. I know you were bang into touring cars in your day, and I was the same but stupidly, even though I’m from bloody Derbyshire, I never got into Schumacher or the Big Boys’ racing cars, I just went mad on tamiya stuff (had the Touring Special motor, hate that I have it all away). But I’ve got another one brewing now and I’m bang into it again (it’s all your bloody fault by the way, but I say that with thanks rather than being grumpy). Hope you’re well anyway mate and I hope you’re slowly ready to get back into the hobby. A change is as good as a holiday though mate so enjoy the time off, following bouncing off the Tamiya wall :) :)

Glenn,sorry to hijack BUT can you give some advice. Since finding your channel I want to get a car, I am 55 and in my 2nd childhood! Right ,I think a "rally" is for me, watched your Subaru and the cosworth. I know nothing about specs and stuff. I would like something not too basic and that I can make to look nice, the sand scorcher looks cool to. Funds are not great so would like the best bang for bucks, would you be able to give a couple of choices please? Have no idea what TT01,02 XV1?
@rogermellor63055 жыл бұрын
The XV01 is a great rally platform while the TT range are very much an entry level platform. If you do go for a TT chassis though and want to upgrade at a later date to the XV then the bodies will swap straight over. You may also like to join the Facebook group - rc rally club for a few more ideas. facebook.com/groups/1413290108970069/
@TAMIYALegends5 жыл бұрын
Gary Murphy Yeah it’s pretty much as Roger said buddy 😊 The cheapest way to go would be something like the TT-02 Subaru Monte Carlo. It’s cheap and looks amazing. If you were just going to run it as the kit, then you only really need to add a full bearing set to it. It can be added to at a later date with cool stuff. I guess it depends what you’re planning on doing with it and the surface you’ll be running it on? As Roger said, the next chassis up is much more of an actual rally chassis. Happy to help if you have anymore questions my friend 😊👊🏻
