Tamiya kit 58633 Blackfoot re-release 2016 build
Hi all
Now sometimes I do build videos but they can suck the fun out of the process so for this one I mainly just took photos along the way. Not sure if this is actually helpful but it's fairly easy to watch and I guess people can pause it to see the steps if they want.
You may wonder how I managed to get Super Glue de-bonder on my servo saver and destroy it. Well I wanted to put a spot of Super Glue on the servo screw to stop it shaking loose. I grabbed the bottle which turned out to be the de-bonder rather than the glue. Basically I got it on my fingers and then on the parts and they disintegrated. I found a spare servo saver but I did eventually upgrade to a Hi Torque servo saver. Also in the instructions it says not to glue the tyres which I was dubious about but I didn't and after the first run the tyres were full of sand! I glued them after that and no further problems. I did have some issues with one of the drive shafts coming out of the output drive cup of the MIP Ball Diff. I later lowered the suspension a bit and now it stays in. Other than that it all went to plan as far as I remember. Really good kit as you would expect from a classic Tamiya.
A big thank you to Pete Smith who got me the kit.
Many thanks for watching. Please like and comment :-)

so what exactly does the mip ball diff do that makes it better?

Well the diff that comes with the kit is not up to the job and the gears it it come apart so it slips. Probably ok with a standard motor. The MIP one is stronger so you can use upgraded motors.

I didn't have this one back in the day but I had other ones and they were pretty quick off the mark. There is a pretty big difference with the brushless set installed and lipo battery though. Hiya Pete. Well done on such a quick build, you weren't messing around with this one! But still very clearly showing all the important bits and bobs. Pity about that servo horn! Hooray for our spares stash, it's well worth keeping every part left over from other builds, for times like this! Nice choice of music, too. Gotta say, the Blackfoot is a fine looking truck, I love that body. Great idea for a build vid and bit of bashing at the end, very entertaining my friend. Oh dear, I can't start on the beer until later as I've got to take my daughter to the train station at 7-30, bummer! Have one for me until then. Hiya matey. Yeah I really didn't want to do the whole build vid on this as I'm sure you'll agree it does make the whole thing quite a palaver. I think that a photo montage is good to give a bit of an overview. Yeah you need to keep all the spares but I have ended up with an extraordinary amount of them. Also I've got all the kit boxes and they have a random assortment of bits in. I can guarantee that if I throw something out I will need it later so it must all be kept until I die! I loved every minute of my Subaru Brat build, not as crazy fast as your Blackfoot though 😁 I understand now why you went for the MIP differential upgrade, need it with that powerful brushless power. Hiya John. Yeah a really nice build like you say and I sort of knew what I was doing having already built the Brat. I did originally think that I was going to talk through this but those videos take such a long time on the editor and with me not being able to put two words together without forgetting what I'm saying. Some of those videos actually have a script just so I can string a sentence together. It's funny because I can have a perfectly normal conversation with another human but as soon as it's me and a microphone I loose the power of speech. Anyway, very best wishes to you and yours. Basically when I was building it the suspension seemed to be smoother with the plastic part so I just used the metal part as a strengthener.
