I’ve only owned two brushless systems, the old school Novak Super Sport with the 4300kv motor, and I also got the Castle Creations Mamba Max 5700kv back in 2007, and those things were wicket fast. The low maintenance and extra run time and more power made the transition to brushless incredibly good. Can’t wait to see more of this Tamiya brushless system, and see if it compares to the bigger brands in the brushless industry

Great video. I used this as a base to setup a DT03 with the same 10.5T motor, ESC and fan. It ran great and extremely smooth. I have since swapped the motor out into a Top Force with a Hobbywing ESC which like Glenn said are cheaper and put a 9.5T motor into the DT03. The ESC with fan is running OK, just have to be careful with the heat as I am over in Australia. It has not cut out yet which is a good indicator I guess

I got the exact same TBLM and TBLE set up in my DT-02MS and Tamiya TFU and sensor cable. Runs fine. I think Tamiya rates their electronics very conservative. Also run a TBLM-02S with a 3S LiPo (and brushed silver can). And seen people go way below 23T without problems too. Of course the warrenty is out the window, but it’s also out the window with a 2S. Not a super fan of the double sided tape of the TFU but it seems to do the job. ... He he, I wonder why people always want to inform you that it’s a wrong choice. Same thing always happens with me. I mean, why not spend 30 sec to see if it’s a Tamiya-nerd/enthusiast that’s bought it before telling that one can buy other stuff. I got plenty of GoolRC etc etc brushless set ups and Arrma and Traxxas cars but still, often, I get told that GoolRC exists and Traxxas exists when I put up a video about a Tamiya project. I mean, it’s a bit pointless information for a Tamiya-enthusiast that’s showing a Tamiya project. Not sure if they actually think one can test a TBLM-02S without buying one, and instead a GoolRC? Hmm ... a mystery 😂😅
@NordicRC4 жыл бұрын
Uhh, and I am looking forward seeing your timing test with the TBLM-02S. Have thought about trying myself, but never tried messing with the timing of any motor, so would love to see you do it first 🙂 ... Ohh, and if you ever want to try out a faster Tamiya brushless motor that’s about the same price as a TBLM-02S, then check out the TBLM-01 series. Sensorless. But a lot more choices available. Got a couple of TBLM-01 8T and TBLE-01 100A and they are really fast and punchy.

@taimaishu-nao19223 жыл бұрын
Also, to anyone saying that the Tamiya unit is expensive and you could get a cheaper, faster setup: Yes, you can and I’m not arguing that. The thing is, Tamiya really go out of their way to inform you on just how you should gear the motor in order to get the most life out of it. I doubt many other brands mentioned would go out of their way to include a detailed gearing chart the way Tamiya does. So yeah, this setup may seem like diminished returns on the surface. But for the money spent, Tamiya will make sure your first run with it won’t be the only one. Just because something is cheap, doesn’t mean it’s any good. *I’ve failed to mention the need for the TFU-01. You don’t need one UNLESS you’re running the 10.5T version! That’s the only reason Glen has one. Otherwise, it’s $30 you don’t need to spend.

@@anyajenkins4611 I think with my very limited understanding that if you think it is the motor take it out and test it out of the car. If it runs OK then put it back in and look at the pinion and make sure it is flush with the spur and rotates correctly. If that is OK then the gearbox may be the problem and if you built the kit then you need work backwards and make sure it is correctly built. The motors TBLM02 if bought from a reputable seller are spot on in my experience

Hey Ryaine RC, do you run the 15.5T on the EGRESS? And, what does the adjustable timing do?
@camilleriap24 жыл бұрын
If you are going to start running brushless you should look into getting a motor analyzer. When you adjust the timing you want to try and keep the motor draw around six amps. If you increase beyond that you will create excessive heat and shorten motor life and you will not gain much in performance. A motor analyzer is key. It will tell you all the information you wish to know, kv, timing more accurately than the markings on the can as well as the amp draw.

Just today I ran my Egress (formerly a shelf-queen) with 3150kv sensored Robitronic Platinum motor and Robitronic speedo on 3s Lipo => It runs so SMOOTH, mate....It is a dream-come-true compared to any brushed motor 👍 👍👍 The stock pinion was way too big for this setup. I use 15t pinion (could still be 1 or 2t smaller for my taste...) which gives a very nice top speed ! More than that is not needed in the Egress in my opinion. I can only recommend the analog Reely S-0090 Servo with metal gear (15 bucks). And one advice for your Egress-build: Put a lot of semi thick grease on ALL gears (front&rear) !!! To install motor/pinion correctly: Push motor-pinion-unit firmly to the spur gear, tighten lower motor mount screw mildly, apply full throttle (spur gear will push pinion slightly away), tighten both screws firmly (with previously applied thread-lock-paste). => Looking forward to your running video of your Egress, mate !!! Mate, I watched this video before caving in and buying one. What’s weird is how Tamiya US states that the TFU-01 is discontinued and the only place you can get one is from Hong Kong. I have them on both of my cars but yeah, seems like an oversight to not make them like the TBLE-04S which allows the use of ANY 25x25mm fan with JR connectors. So far I’ve loved the 10.5. It’s not a perfect motor but if you give it full beans, it will go like a hurt rat! Just gotta really read the manual that comes inside the box of the TBLM-02S; DO NOT DISCARD OR YOU’LL LUNCH YOUR NEW MOTOR!!! Gearing is important with these because you don’t want the ESC to go “pop, bang, hiss”, hence why I say DO NOT throw away the manual that comes with it! While on the subject of gearing, one must be careful if running a 68T or lower spur gear. Too high or low a final drive can again cook the ESC! I almost ran a 27T pinion and 64T spur on my TT-02, which is the lowest drive I can go before the ESC says “no way”. I currently run 22T pinion and 68T spur and the final drive is right in the middle of the Tamiya specs for that spur gear. Thanks Glen and thanks for this very informative video.

This esc is not bad, but there, as you said, many drawbacks that I hope will be corrected in the next itteration: - 50% speed in reverse. - sensored only for brushless, no sensorless (I really like the fact it can do both brushed and brushless). - No program card. - overheating (I have the fan as well, cool stuff, but my motor stoped oftem because of temp, even with the nice fan option). - turn limits in both brushed and Brushless are too high, especially for brushed. If all those stuffs are changed, it mighr be a big hit!

Yes it does. I have speed passion sensored brushless 17.5T, 13.5T & 10.5T running on the tble02.
@nickrobertson24504 жыл бұрын
If you leave the sensor wire out the tble02 just beeps & winks an LED fault code at you. So no it doesn't seem to run senseless motors.

I have the tblm o2s 10.5 with the tamiya esc but it runs the car faster in reverse and nothing I do alters that ...what's the problem
@TAMIYALegends4 жыл бұрын
Raleighburner15 Hynes That’s really odd 😬 Have you reversed your throttle on the transmitter and checked if it’s set right 🤔🤷🏼♂️
@raleighburner15894 жыл бұрын
@@TAMIYALegends I changed the setting on the controller and altered the timing on the can and you can't reverse the wiring because it won't run at all still no luck it just runs faster in reverse

Raptor50aus Yes I haven’t had any problems with any chassis so far, but I don’t really drive them that hard tbh. Thanks for watching buddy 😊👊🏻

Gene It’s going in the Egress, but it’s pretty tame tbh at 3300kv! My other cheap combo I have is 9t 4370kv, so it’s not going to be as quick as that one, so should be interesting to see how it runs 🤔🤷🏼♂️

Every time i see this "cooling solutions" i have to bang my head on the desk... damn is this a bad construction and inefficient. The already very small cooling area is covered in more plastic.... 42x42mm heatsink and fan directly attached would be much much better. But it's not only a tamiya "problem"
