I agree with you that it would be nice to have the paint call outs in color. Airfix does it.

Great out of box review for an oid warhorse.I built model of the Skyraider decades ago. Instead of using paint I used aluminum foil! Didn't turn out to bad. I wish I had kept it though.

Hi Bobby great in box review the skyraider is a fantastic kit to build i have the usaf camo one also you can get a fair amount of updates sets for it as I have bought some of them just to tart it up a bit think I need to get the navy one aswell lol. cheers Gary.

Good evening Bobby, I haven't made models for years and techniques etc have moved on. I've been watching videos/tutorials as I want to get back into it - what else can I do in lockdown! It's interesting that this is your first video of 2021, as I remembered I had a kit in the loft that I'd started probably 20 years ago but had made very little progress on: a Tamiya A1-H Skyraider in 1/48 scale. The very same as this one, with the same picture on the box lid. And where you have a sheet with Tech Tips, I have a sheet with painting instructions in a language (Chinese?) that I can't understand! I'll need plenty of guidance to make any sort of job of this, so I'll keep watching your, and other videos! One thing I wanted to ask. I bought some Tamiya paints for this kit all those years ago, and they've remained largely unopened since then: should they still be useable, or do they deteriorate over time? Ant thoughts/advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

best to open and find out mate, you may need to add some tamiya thinners but would love to know if they still work after all this time

@@genessismodels it’s an interesting kit ... not much you can do with the cockpit detail.. as you can’t see much due to the tight layout. Great tutorial opportunity for exterior US naval painting .. and would be keen to see how you tackle the exhaust weathering effect on this aircraft.. plenty to do in terms of how to paint and weather bombs, fuel tanks and missiles as well !

Hi Bobby good in box review tamiya skyraiders are really good.got the Vietnam one its a big kit for 1/48 wouldn't mind the navy one aswell also you can buy a fair few updates for it as I have done.but it is a really nice kit to build. cheers Gary.
