Welcome to the fourth run of my modified Tamiya DT-02 in the Speed Competition set by Peter Smith ‪@cw-01creations46‬ . This modified DT-02 was originally a Holiday Buggy and is my entry in the BRUSHED class.
This comp is open to anyone around the world with a Tamiya DT-02 and there are super prizes for the 2 classes, brushed and brushless. Check out the rules and prizes in Peter Smith's video here:

Tamiya Hobbywing 1060 brushed ESC
22T pinion / stock spur gear
Full ball bearing conversion
Zeee 5200mAh LiPo battery
Stock chassis with extension plates
Tamiya Neo Scorcher body
Home-made alloy front wing
Unbranded Monster Truck rear wheels

Hi Mark, what you need is a bigger pinion and smaller spur not the bigger wheels, they just makee it harder for the motor to cope with. I have some experience with that experiment and it doesn't work. Back to the drawing board and see whats possible. Good luck mate.😊😊😊😊😊

Many thanks for the sage advice, Allan, really appreciated! Yep, the motor sure was straining with the big wheels. We are not allowed to change the spur but I can use a slightly bigger pinion, I'll give it a go when I get the chance. Cheers mate! 🍻😎👊👍

It may not be faster but your DT-02 looks epic with the big wheels and I think you'd be the winner in the "Wacky Races" class 😀👍🏼👍🏼

Goddag Mark! So happy to see you two still going strong and enjoying life and the RC World! Good attempt. Yeah, there must be a bottle-neck somewhere. Perhaps the motor yes. But 60 is wild on a brushed 14T. Think it’s about the same speed as my DT-02 with an 8T brushless. Would love to see how you changed that DT-02 if I find some time to go back in your videos. Goddag Mikael! It's so good to hear from you, I have been wondering how you are and what you are up to these days, my good friend. Ah yes, the trials of running a speed car, it's crazy trying to work out how to go faster, logic doesn't always work it seems. I know I can get this car to go a little faster though! Life here has been very tricky lately, still lots of health and family issues but we keep on smiling! I hope all is good with you and your lovely family. Take care mate! 😎🩵👊👍

Oh no, hit the limits what it will do. I wonder if the HW ESC is restricting the amperage to the motor? Maybe a higher amp ESC may give it the kick in the pants it needs to wind out. Best of luck with it Mark, I know that was a bit deflating but I am sure you will get it sorted and bust past that 40MPH wall! Take care and have a great week!

Hi Addam and thanks for the thoughts! Yeah I was wondering about the ESC but I don't have anything else that will run down to a 10T motor, time to get head scratching! We will come back fighting soon my friend, all the best mate! 😎👊👍

Hi Mark, Thats was a nice try for testing out what those bigger tyres will do. I tried some 2.8" wheels and put them on my Aqroshot and it went like a missile 🏎 Just watched the F1 race, and as you know i am a McLaren fan so i was happy they won. But not the way it was done. Team orders suck 😉😞

Hi Are! Yes I have learnt a lot with these tests. I had bigger tyres on my Aqroshot and a 19T pinion, also very fast but the 12T motor overheated! Oh yes, the F1 race, I was willing Lando to keep going and ignore the team instructions. Bloody ridiculous! 😡

At least the big wheels might help you speed through all the rubbish, ha ha! It actually drives really well, straight as an arrow, very nice! Too bad with the overheating issues... I guess you need to break out that secret motor you got hidden away, ha ha! I need to hurry get an entry done for Peter, and after that it's all Poorboys speedgame, ha ha!

Oh that rubbish Mads, yes that was the idea!!! 😅 But yes, I'm chuffed with how well this extended chassis drives, it's so easy to keep on the straight and narrow. I knew this would get hot as all the motors I've run in this car have, it just got hotter though! That 10T motor is coming next my friend... Same here, gearing up for the PBRC SRC!!!! 😎👊👍

Sorry, it didn't turn out as planned. Bigger wheels should add more speed at one turn of the wheel, but they also need more torque from the motor and add roll resistance at the same time. Maybe a 21T motor or higher might improve the missing force. One question: runs the car more stable now? Beside that, the car looks really cool. Have a great Sunday Mark.

Many thanks for the advice, Dirk! Yes, bigger wheels need more torque to turn them, my motor was not strong enough. I need to keep trying different options, lots of trial and error! My Sunday was good, hope you are having a great week! 😎👌👍

Nah I'm not having much luck mate! Seems I'm in the same boat you were in at the start! I had a little shunt in my real car last week so not done any speed running since. Going forward I'm not throwing any more money at this so get messing with those settings and I hope you can beat my 40! Definitely good fun!

Car wasn't too bad but it was a hit and run, they ran into the back of us and we have a bit of whiplash to nurse! Same here pal, all my stuff is being ported over to the MF01X, unfortunately that means no surprise increase in performance though!

Hi mate, I laughed out loud when the vid started and there you were holding that bloody dragster...😂🤣. It's starting to look like Peter Perfect's car from Wacky Races. So good to hear it gave you a laugh, mate, we aim to please! 😅 Don't worry though, this failure means I'll be reverting to "non Whacky Races" wheels! Sometimes you gotta go backwards to go forwards... a little bit forwards at least. No way am I able to win this judging by what others have up their sleeves, I just got off to a good start mate! Ooooohhh ☹️ bummer 👎 i wasnt expecting that ... the numbers went down instead of up. Hope you're feeling better and a case of back to the drawing board with lots of head scratching 👍 I will pop out later for another test run after the update video. Fingers crossed it will be a better attempt than what i currently have.... 🤔🤨🧐

I know Peter, bummer indeed, I was hoping for a better result but that's how it goes with speed runs! This was recorded a couple of weeks ago pal - still suffering from a bit of whiplash but it's getting better. Hiya mate. Pleased to see that you made it out for another attempt. Not the result you were hoping for though. Like you say you must have reached the limit of that set-up and it just hasn't got the power to drive that gearing and heavy wheels. Could do with some wheels with that diameter but thinner. Anyway good try and best of luck with your future attempts 😁👍👍

Thanks mate, yeah this was filmed a couple of weeks ago, I have about 4 runs in the can from then! I agree, the motor is under strain but with ze rulez we don't have too many options. Basically, I need a better motor that can either spin faster or pull harder (ooh er!) but I ain't!!! Maybe I can eek another mph or two but that's me lot! Cheers for the kind words mate. 😎🤝

Been there done e that with my Rustler, doesn't work well just overheats the motor. Worth a try, in theory it should go faster but doesn't work in practice.😢😂😂

You got the MF01X for Fil's SRC too, great stuff glad to know your going for it this year too, just ordered mine today, hope it comes in time, with the bug body it should be fun. By the way which class you going to be running in this year, hope it's the brushless, we'll just have to wait and see.😊😊😊

@@MarkBryanRC Cheers Mark. Yeah, the whole village seems to have it at the moment.!! 🤯 😲.! There are only about 60 people living in it though, so it's not as bad as it sounds! 😉 😂 We only have one shop/PO/petrol station (next shop is 20 miles to the west or 40 miles to the east) so if one person has it & goes to the shop we're all likely to catch it.!! This is actually the first village wide covid outbreak.!! It's taken over 4 years for it to reach us.!!!

good attempt marky bro that rear wheel diameter holding you back there brudda 😪😪i can hit 55mph on 6s with the truggy if i put smaller wheels i get about 40mph even though it looks faster etc if i put MT wheels its like 35 haha 😂😂theres some good gearing charts online too mind 👍when i had my TT years back i used to up the pinion to 28t (robinsons) and way lower the spur gear down always found me extra speed 😁

Ah mate..... The look on your face when you got that speed up on screen.....😩 I feel your pain mate, that's gutting. It was definitely worth a try, but it obviously wasn't liking that gearing, and the burnt pingies were a harsh notification of it. I'm sure someone of your knowledge and Wisdom will be able to come back with something better buddy. It's tough at the top!! 😉 👍 👍 👍

Oh man brother... That's not good dude!!! I did warn you that you can't over gear brushed motors.. Try it again mate but this time (next time) use the 19 tooth pinion.. Change only the pinion and see if it's faster with the same set-up. I'm rooting for you but you know I have to give my local homie (Kevin) more rooting.... Haha, yes my friend, I do remember you warning me about over gearing! I just thought it might be OK but it wasn't!!! I think I'll go back to the smaller wheels and try to squeeze another mph or two out of it. Thanks for the rooting, but yeah I totally understand you gotta root for Kev and Dom! Thanks brother!
