Wow this is great, I had this buggy back in the early 80,s, this one and the Frogger as well. The Frogger was my first kit and the Super Champ came soon after. Thanks for brining me back in time, I sure had a lot of fun with those two models. I would love to see a 1/8th version of the Champ, that would be awesome.

I'm in the beginning of restoring an old vintage Super Champ. A basket case, but I got the box and instructions. So that helps a lot. I'm rounding up lots of parts I needed. Or wanted. Like a ball diff. Someone put a very strange option on it I never saw before. The rear wheel hubs are slipper clutches. Each with 2 metal disks and a fibrous disk between. Very cool. The tightness of the lug nut changes the slip. I been combing through eBay and never seen anything like it. Is eventually going to be my Super Duper Champ.

Just wondering but how come it has the oil bottle in the back is it just for looks? To make look like it has a gas tank or does it serve a purpose for the oil filled shocks?

Yes, it's an oil reservoir for the rear oil shock. Every shock leaking a bit of oil, and this keeps the shock full of oil.

I'll never forget watching the film in Hamleys RC Model section circa 1983 and looking on in disbelief as the mean machine plummeted towards the ground and simply bounced off the floor of the mini-canyon it landed in. The consensus was formed among us at that moment that Tamiya RC cars could possibly be extra-terrestrial technology. Following that, got my Sand Scorcher in '83 and hooked ever since.

Hi Matteo, Seems like you've made it. Your Fighter Buggy video was shown on Tamiya's booth on the Long Beach Grand Prix Motorsport Experience. Compare kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWOqdJmimMZrq9E from 5:41 onwards. Your style of video shooting and editing echoes those of Tamiya's past (early 80's), but on a far higher level. And playing music instead of hearing transmission noise is always a big bonus! Like your videos a lot! Grüße in die Schweiz.

***** my son is asking how do you get a video of the cars while its moving. Would you make a video of "how to film RC cars"?
@Matteomeier10 жыл бұрын
Maybe sometime I have to do this. In the mean time I can give you some advices. I use the Camera (better a small and light one like a GoPro) on a stick. I hold the stick with the camera down, close to the car and run beside the car while I filming. I do drive and film the car at the same time.
@JunYamog10 жыл бұрын
***** Thanks. I have read this on the tamiya club forum before from a 3rd hand source and I told my son. He said its almost impossible to do that. Now that you said it, pretty sure we will try it the next time we get the cars out. I can always just fly the quad close to the cars now that I have just installed a gimbal on it this weekend. You got great photo and driving skills, most people have a hard time to do one... but doing it the same time that is real talent (and practise).
