Thanks!! After I got them put on I kind of like the lights they way they are, it kind of didn't make sense to why they would run yellow and white covers on them anyways. Hi Lionel, this one looks great and drives really great in a straight line! Turning is not its strong suit! On power it wants to just keep shoving it along in a straight line. Off power turning is a lot better but you have to be really careful to not fully let of or it can slow too quick and then the front end dives and then it turns too quick and wants to roll! It takes some getting used to on how and when to turn it properly. I give it a pass as it looks so good and I can watch that rear suspension work all day long!!

You did an outstanding job on the build. You have a lot of patience and attention to detail. The car looks great! It really absorbs the bumps we'll and the rear shock system is very unique. It seems every Fighting Buggy I've seen has the unusual camber in the rear.I was wondering why it was designed like that or is that a function of the shock system? Thanks for sharing.
@AddamsPlayground2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I am happy with the build and the end result! The wonky camber is due to the way the suspension mounts and works. The rear arms shar a pivot pin with the cantilever arms the shock mounts to so they have the same pivot point and to allow for full travel the arms pivot downwards and the hub is part of the arm so the camber goes from one extreme to another through the up/down travel. Most buggies use tow arms or an arm and a a link with a pivoting hub to all the wheel to stay straight up and down through the cycle but this one is fixed to the arm so it changes at it pivots up and down. I hope that explained it well enough.

I have to agree with Rex, besides the other sweet cam views, watching that wacky design on the rear shock move was great! Are you using an insta 360? Also, what are those block that prop up your models on your awesome new shelving? Rock on!
@AddamsPlayground2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was wanting to get those cool rear end shot like David from Kai City RC gets but I just looked like a drunk chasing a chicken out there and the video of that was terrible!!! I am using the Insta360 and still have not found the best setting for filming yet but it was a cool shot of the shock! The blocks I use are foam yoga blocks that U cut down. I usually try and get the 9x6x3 blocks and for the trucks and on-road cars I cut them to 9x3x3 and for the buggies I cut them on a diagonal from 2 to 4 inches to slant them forward just for a cooler looking angle! You can buy the same type of foam stands but I can buy 2 blocks, cut them into 4 stand for $15-20 and ones sole for RC are close to $20 each!! When you only have one or two cars it aint that bad but when you start getting into a dozen or more it gets to be an pricey option! I work best to cut them with a bandsaw but I have done it with a chop saw. You can cut them with a regular hand saw but preferably one with a small tooth to avoid ripping chunks out of the foam when cutting. They cut like warm butter on the bandsaw!!!

Hi Addam, have you ever clear coated over tamiya decals? I'm curious as to how well they take to clear after being applied to the body.
@AddamsPlaygroundАй бұрын
I have done it and it looks pretty good but I personally don't do it to mine. For a complete shelf queen, show-off car then maybe but for my general collecting and mild running it is not worth it to me. I have had too many paint issues in the past to want to risk it all to clearing over the decals. I know lots of folks have done it without any issues but I don't want to temp fate. I can strip all the paint off fairly easy but finding another decals sheet can be a pain or at least a big delay!

Bro, that rear suspension set up is bonkers and that back end is hella chonk! Have you taken it on the track yet to see how it goes over the hill? Also is it my imagination or did it look like the front end was really stiff over the normal terrain?

LOL, it has a solid rear end! It does not turn very well both due to lack of steering throw and that locked rear end. I may take it on the track after some practice with it but you really have to plan for turns with it and I know right now I would just hit almost everything out there! I did notice in the video the front seemed like it did not move as much as expected. I did check today and the fronts move super easy so I am not sure why it looks like that!

i really want to get this. is this better than the wild one or sand scorcher?

I have not gotten the Sand Scorcher yet (it is on the list for sure) but I have heard the SS does turn a bit better than the Fighting Buggy does. The FB does not have the internal electronics box so fitting a regular battery is a lot easier to where it can be pain with the SS. I think the Wild One will run circle around this one (Literally and figuratively!) and has better suspension and handling. The classis looks and the super cool rear suspension is the selling point for me on this one and it is a very wonderful kit to build. For performance I would go to the Wild One, for the cool factor of the machined parts and the fun of watching the rear suspension working I would say the FB is great and for just a cool fun looking bug that is one of THE Tamiya trademark cars the SS is the winner!

@AddamsPlayground thanks for the honest review...I got the ss and it's running a lot better than I thought. But it's not running pretty well considering the old design. I got the blockhead wild one only for the looks and will probably stick with torque tuned and Ali servo. I started to pay attention to the fighting buggy since the rear oil reservoir looks awesome...I hope it could at least run somewhat on grass. I am gonna do hobbling 1060 with torque tuned if I do get it

Taking a mile to make a turn lol

Yeah, on power this thing does not want to turn at all! That locked rear diff just shoves it forward in a straight line. I does do much better on the dirt but in the grass where the spikey tires have grip and the round fronds don't it take a bit of finesse to turn the old gal around! LOL!
