Tamiya Lunchbox Essential Upgrades

Welcome to my channel and thank you for taking the time to view this video.
This fun to build and highly customisable Tamiya RC model, was generously gifted to me by, the wonderful and extremely generous, Peter Smith of CW-01 Creations. If you haven't seen Peter's great creations, please do check his channel, I think you'll agree, he's a bit of a guru with his creations. Peter, from the heart, thank you for this wonderful model, I will cherish this great gift.
This is the build steps ?? To ?? of the Tamiya Lunchbox on the CW-01 chassis. This characteristic model comes with a Tamiya 540 motor, ESC, friction shock absorbers and a hard style, highly detailed resin body.

My I suggest to undo half a turn the lower rear shocks screws? They have to move a little to follow the radial movement of the rear axle. So the dumper is free to work properly.

Very nice upgrades John! Lunch box is coming along very nicely brother. I lIke the aluminum spring retainers but I do think they need a lil play in the lower screw to let the suspension move freely? Idk it may not have that much movement 🤷‍♂️ lol! Hope you have a great day buddy! 👊😎👍

I’ve not heard from him for a couple of weeks now, I believe he was due to have some annual leave after the Dunelm sales (he’s been a busy man), then I believe he’s been working on his full size car, as he needed to get it back on the road, because his poor VW Bora, had some issues. Hey great guide John. What a top chap Pete is. I've not actually done any of these upgrades on my Lunchboxes although I have done 5th shock and different ways to brace the gearbox. Hey how's it going with that little camera? Hope all is well with you and yours 🙂

Hi Pete and thank you for watching my good buddy. Oh yes, that Peter Smith is a great gentleman indeed. I’ve watched your 5th shock mod many times, but Peter said the axel brace is a good sturdy solution and brace the front and drop the 5mm rubber tubing to the front dampers to aid the cambering of the model. It’s a great chassis. First impressions of the camera is good. I’m just waiting for a fast microSD card from good olde Amazon, a class 10 UHS-3 spec card, so hopefully, capture at the higher frame rates a definition, to be honest, I’m impressed, I think sure it’s not going to be a GoPro, but I’m confident it will work. Hi Darren and firstly welcome to the CW-01 club. The lunchbox is a really cool truck. Most of the upgrades are available from sellers on eBay. If I put links in the chat, unfortunately KZbin will take the chat off for commercial reasons. But I promise you, they are available on eBay and you might be lucky with Amazon too. Bearings are a must, Google search Rc bearings and you’ll see that gentleman. Search for the Lunchbox gearbox brace, the brace across the chassis was some threaded bar, with a couple of ball end connectors and some 3 x 10mm stainless steel screws and nuts. The Lunchbox alloy body mounts are a must too, available from Fastrax. If you need any further help, please do message me by email, my contact is in my about section. I've got oil filled shocks and metal wheel bearings to and what batteries are good for longer running time please. And thank I mite get the tamiya subaru brat to what do you think. @@darrenlarkins4426 hi Darren, you’re more than welcome. I used a 3mm x 100mm threaded bar and cut it to length. I purchased them again on eBay. I’ve got the Subaru Brat, the wonderful ORV chassis is amazing. With my re-release version you get both a hard and polycarbonate body too, so you get to have a shelf / show body and a running one, you get different gearing options too and the best bit…you get to have to open all the bags and parts trees, right from step 1, so the building experience is awesome!
