A review of the Tamiya Spray Stand. A bit of a luxury, but one I've been promising myself for ages....

Have had one for years. The small one with the two adjustable arms sure beats bent hangers for holding a car body. The large table is ideal as a drying rack. Items attached to a skewer, alligator clip mounted on a stick etc can be sprayed then stick popped into one of the holes on the table and allowed to dray.

Good review lee, two things, get yourself some of the alligator clips for the other holes in the spray table, and get some nitro rc car fuel line and cut two small lengths off and put it on the wire of the model stand, as it then grips you rmodel and doesnt mark it. Nice to see you using my superglue trick too :)

Thanks Lee, I've been faffing about with buying this set for ages. Simply because I haven't seen one in action, nor a review of them. I may actually pick up one now. : )

I've had as many as 16 different parts on the spin table before to spray paint all at once. Each of the small holes will fit trimmed sprue and hold spot glued parts perfectly. That's 12 holes for sprue plus 4 clamps, and if I had an additional 4 clamps to go with that....

I picked up one at Hobby Lobby here in the states for $14.99 with their 40% off coupon. I would never have paid $25 for it, but $15 was far more reasonable since I was going to spend $8 or $9 for a generic plastic lazy-susan, why not spend a few extra bucks and get a one built specifically for modelers? Also, you essentially get two turntables in the box which is double the deal.

I have one of those. Mine either came with some "alligator clips" or I had to purchase them separate. I can't remember since I've had it for quite a while now. I use the 2 pieces differently. The car body holder works GREAT for what I use it for. The second or lower part I use for holding the clips after I've painted the objects to allow them to dry out of the way. I'm actually thinking about buying another one to have so I can have 2 projects going at the same time and not having to worry about holders.

I wouldn't have said it was very expensive - £12.98 on Amazon UK - only downside is that it is shipped from Japan (no delivery charge) so maybe 3 weeks wait.

I used mine for the first time today. I didn't realize I needed to keep those retainers handy so the springs wouldn't explode sending car body and springs everywhere. Either mine is way too tight, or those retainers are critical to keep the body springs from spanning out and flying off the base! And, yes, I did have the tension set to the lowest point. Has anyone else had that issue, or did yours work perfect right out of the box?

A bit late to the show...but thanks for the review...you saved me money.I think there are two odd design flaws - one is including 8 spaces for clips on the main stand and only providing 4 clips and the other is not having the second part in any way able to connect to the first part.Neither of the issues are huge - but the first is an obvious money saver and the second is odd. A small tweak to the base of the second stand could've seen it having an extra configuration option.

What's AVF and all these other acronyms?
@TranceTrousers5 жыл бұрын
He should have said AFV. It's short for Armoured Fighting Vehicle, in other words tanks, armoured cars etc
