Idemitsu is an oil company. They're still around, but nowadays they race with Honda motorcycles, as far as I've seen. This livery was from their racing team back in the day. They raced it in at least the EF and EG Civics back in the INTER TEC series (later, JTCC) and overall in Group A racing in Japan (also, a few excursions to some races in Asia, outside Japan, such as the Macau GP, in HK) in the late 80s, early 90s. They were competitors to the likes of the JACCS and STP Civics, TOM'S Corollas, Castrol Primeras, etc.

BTW, super score on it. Super sweet looking, if not perfect, but great to just have in the shelf! Next time, for any lifting stickers, have you tried hitting the bits that are lifting with a bit of hot air from a hairdrier for a few seconds? Heat softens up the vynil and can conform to the contour of the body better. That could actually save the sticker, even if the glue is long gone, at least it would just lean on the body better, an since it won't be run, it should hold up well, I think.

Also, what you call caster, is not such, but actually toe. In the case of RCs, it's very common to have toe out for the front and toe in in the rear, as you say. Your arms are most probably swapped positions or inverted. It may be intentional, but most probably not how Tamiya intended, or that would be a first for them. I built a Tamiya FF01 with a Renault Clio body back in the 90s when it was released, but I can't remember now. Still, I'm pretty sure you can find an FF01 manual pdf online to double check :)

@@Mike-qh2zh I'm aware. I meant the company is still around, but their racing activities are more focused on motorcycles, from what I've found

If I didn't watch the video and just saw the completed light restoration, I would have bet that the orange mirrors were stock. They look great.

Funny my experiences usually go the opposite way...I order something expecting something good and end up with crap 😄 . Cool little ride, really dig the orange color.

You don't have to have a steady hand to get the stickers on. Just use a little dish soap with water and a squirt bottle. Squirt it on to the body and the sticker, then apply the sticker to the body then adjust it to where you like it. When you're happy with it squeegee the water out and it stays.

The white wheels are probably of the Castrol Civic. That one had white wheels. I have all Tamiya Civics in my collection now, the wheels came in white, black and grey... Good find! Looks good!

Great conservation work on the Civic. Like Tamiya Tuesday, also, on a Wednesday in this case. Pretty soon you need an annex to the new tiny rc house (following on IG). Thank you!

I have 4 FF01 cars. All four of mine are the new Beetle. All of mine also have the Tamiya universals in the front. Which are now hard to get. Thoughts ?

The Castrol Civic version was my first touring car still have it along with the original box it came with the same white wheels my FRP chassis is nowhere near that clean and I’ve been through two of them due to a lot of racing on asphalt it’s retired now wearing a Piaa Honda Accord body and setup as it was last raced electronics wise I believe you are referring to the rear toe settings not caster and if you are the proper setup was for the rear tires to be toe out on the FF01 if you move the uprights left to right it will give you toe in which is the proper setup for the TA01/02 4wd cars but it can be used on the FF01 to make it less tail happy
