Hi Mark! That’s a fast TT (and cute squirrel). Yeah, with that gearing I would have expected a bit more too. Hmm. Must be the batteries not providing enough amps and voltage for the motor? If you can get hold of a 7 cell high mah it would probably do the trick … or maybe just burn the motor 🙃 Anyway. 55 kph is very very respectable !

Hello Mikael! Yeah, not too shabby for a TT02, stock(ish) chassis! Everyone was talking about the squirrel we nearly ran over last year, so Rob thought he'd get one that we couldn't hurt!!! 😅 Yeah I think the batteries are holding me back a little - I have a 7 cell coming! We will se how good this motor is! Cheers my mate! 🤗💙👍

You guys are killing me with the squirrels! LOL!! I am looking all over the place now for them! Glad you got a but more speed out of it and 34 is good for the gearing you got in there! Keep feeding it gears! LOL! I just came up from swapping the brushed motor back in mine and I managed to cram in a slightly larger pinon in mine again (bigger than the 42 that was in there!). I am surprised I was able to fit it in there so one last run with Ricky and the new 15t Reedy Radon brushed motor will be coming soon!

Ah, ha ha, the squirrel! Great run again, Mark! Some sort of steering issue but once you got it sorted it ran straight and true, very nice! Yeah, I agree, the battery is really essential for a good run, like you just proved here also. Of course with bigger capacity comes greater weight, but it seems the power helps with that... "Tooth", ha ha, I have to admit, I got tooth and turn mixed up a few times, too... I have a 27 and a 29 tooth pinion also, ready for next runs... Have a great weekend there, my friend!
@MarkBryanRC Жыл бұрын
Hello Mads! Yeah we just had to use the squirrel in my videos as well as Rob's! The steering issue was caused by the trim setting getting knocked in the RC bag! Should have checked it before doing the run! Yeah I think I got the chassis sorted now and it goes in a straight line most of the time now! As for weight, that will not affect top speed, only acceleration! So put in the fattest battery you can! Tooth and turns, what am I like? I blame my age! 60 next month! 😬🤫😅

Higher MaH batteries do allow more current and therefore power under load, if they have the same discharge rating. Let's say A 2000mah 20c discharge battery can supply 40A of power. A 3600 20c discharge can supply 72 amps. You need higher current to supply the power without voltage drop, when using geared up, high power motor combinations. That's why lipo batteries are so good, they can supply much more current, sometimes over 100c rated, which means much less voltage drop under load and more speed and more power.
@MarkBryanRC Жыл бұрын
Hi Pete and many thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts! Yeah that makes a lot of sense to me! I need more power (said like Jeremy Clarkson!!!) 👍 It would be a lot easier in the brushless/ lipo class as those batteries are much more reliable in terms of current supply! Thanks again! ☺ 👊👍
@peteuncle2935 Жыл бұрын
@@MarkBryanRC i have put a wattsup meter on one of my brushed Tamiya cars, and under full load it was drawing nearly 80amps from memory. Probably way more than a 2000mah NiMH could deliver for any sustained time, like a speed run for example. A high discharge 5000 NiMH would be much better if your can find one if that's the way you want to go.

Batteries defo make a difference. We have noticed the difference massively whilst doing all our speed runs, but all our batteries have been LIPO. What i find bizzare in this test though, is the fact that you would think a lover MAH battery, would be lighter and therefore the car be faster 🤷♂️
