For the extras on the TT-02D is worth buying the bare chassis and grippy tyres and a bodyshell, rather than TT-02 and the upgrades.

Looked like a great time sliding about there! A great place to set up a simple course on and crash into things all the time. I would mount the bodies better before course driving though. It looks like the TT02D was a bit easier to flip back and forth and control but it was a kind of hard to tell. I just enjoyed watching them run about!

I’m convince the secret with magnets is tape, but more tests needed. I agree the TT02D seemed easier to handle but when I gave the TT02 more power it seemed to handle better 🤔👍

Great video lads! To my untrained eye the TT02D did seem to be handling better - no need for drift tyres on that smooth floor! Oh man, the outtakes made me smile, I think I'll stick to the stock body posts! 😅😅 Enjoyed the music choice too. The TT02D is definitely worth the extra over the stock kit. Cheers boys! 🍻😎👊👍

The TT02D does seem to have that ‘Scandinavian Flick’ down to a T on that floor, but the TT02 did a good job when it powered up more. I have to say magnets are bloody rubbish! Posts are by far the best idea. I know from your testing of the TT02 vs the TT02D Running both with posts was a better idea! Thanks for watching 👍

Magnetic body posts are like electric handbrakes...... Why mess with something that's worked so well for so many years?? 🤔 I think I will be sticking with manual handbrakes and good old fashioned ugly but simple body pins! The Vauxhall Manta was a stunning looking car back in the day, and still is when you put it alongside modern, bland, characterless Euro boxes. (although they did rust well) Those shells looked great on the TTO2 dynamic duo, cool paint jobs! The TTO2 is the perfect platform for drifting..... Infact when we entered ours into the poor boys rc speed challenge last year, it's totally refused to go straight, just drifted away wherever it wanted to..... which wasn't really ideal at 50+ mph, and yes, it ended badly! 😂 I thought you guys were based in sunny Wales..... unyet I'm sure I've seen that hall before? 🤔 It doesn't half look like the hall in Craggy Island where the disco took place.... 😂 😅 Nice little session guys, have a great Easter weekend. 😊 👍 👍 👍

I have an Electronic handbrake and I’m never convinced it’s on, it’s always a nervous moment when applying it on a hill. My TT02 could not go in a straight line if I wanted it to, too much power and piss poor driving I think! We did have the hall quite cheap as it was after the ‘Lovely Girls competition’ 🤣😂👍

My dad had 3-4 mantas back in the day. I got the D version because of the extra parts. All in box 😅 it has now a locked back diff but i do not drift slide so much. You may need to mod the steering angle quite a bit. I currently make an lada 2101 body for it. White with black fenders and bumpers.

It is worth it for the extra bits you get in the box, unless you have them from other builds. Didn’t they fit a heated rear windscreen to Lada cars so it would keep your hands warm while pushing it 🤣😂👍

@@RCsoandso i never sat in a Lada in my live. 😅 Normally I would say you need a hammer and it runs again. I rebuild something I saw on KZbin. Wider, integrated spoiler, nissan motor. Ok I do not have a nissan motor but a Japanese speed tuned and AWD 😆

We had the Astra here for a couple of years under that name plate in USA I think it was under the Saturn name plate.

It’s amazing how some vehicles are global and some don’t seem to travel. I believe that after Vauxhalls finished making the mk3 they passed the machine presses to Daewoo and they used it to produce cars for a few years. 👍

@@adrianharrison5208 the last Astra body that did not look like the Le mans was put on the Saturn and that became the Astra. But we did have the Pontiac LeMans back in the day. They did change to the actual name and put it on the Saturn.

And as GM had copied your Headquarters, they might help you with informations. Both run great. The different performance might be due to the tires. The black's slightly more stable, and maybe the reason for being the better bumper car😂😂😂. Fohe Ostern und dicke Eier.

I do think most Manta drivers had a mullet. The black one does seem to be able to keep up with the TT02D so really if you have the upgrades on hand just buy a TT02 I guess I can’t believe GM used the same architect! 🤣😂👍

Was the mk2 the one with the rounder front end as that GTE was pretty good looking. Pity Lotus didn’t get their hands on it 🤔🤣😂👍

@@RCsoandso yes the mk2 was more rounded and came with an awesome 2.0 16v red top engine 🤤 we have a slightly less hot version of it here in Canada just with a 2.0 engine, I hay try and find one for myself. I would love something from my childhood back in the UK

I guess it’s the shipping that would kill it cost wise and being in Canada you would have to see if someone else imported one to the dryer states of America for the best chance it hasn’t rotten away

I so wish Tamiya would bring out an official Opel Manta. May be a Nissan 200RS and bring back the Toyota Celica from the 959 chassis but for the TT or BT. 😎😎😎

Top tip for a fuller flavour here: do yourself a favour old bean and buy yourself some species of Kyosho Optima (Optima/Turbo Optima/Javelin/Optima Pro) because I think you’ll be happily surprised. See, all my days I’ve been a tamiya car fellow. Lunchbox - Blitzer Beetle - Manta Ray - Top Force (built from previous car, very gradually) Avante - Avante Black Spesh (cook’s kiss) - Egg’n’cress a TA01 Skyline, a TA02 Escort, and two random TT-02 chassis, one of which is an exceedingly good clone. You get the picture, Tamiya through-and-through (eeeh, th’blood in my veins runs red and blue, a tells thee! 😀😀) until last month. I was bored and found myself in a model shop for the first time in years (support your local model shop folks!) as I’ve not seen one in years…. No intention of buying owt but the git behind the counter ended up showing me a Turbo Optima Legendary whatsit and he had me. For nigh on 400 bones (or clams) one would obviously expect a good build, though I wasn’t expecting anything like the build it was (I went on to spend another 1k on Kyosho kits since). Not better or worse than Tamiya, though an out-and-out beginner might struggle a bit at first. Anyway, I’m not a full convert as I’ve also just bought the aforementioned Avante Spesh, but I’d been RC dormant until the Kyosho purchase and now I’m £2K lighter in pocket too, so be careful :) :) Really sorry for the essay, but people need to know! Anyway, keep up the cracking work.

The essay is fine as it gives detail. Now as much of a fan boy I am with Tamiya, it’s not I’m against other brands but more that I have not had any experience with them. From time to time I’ve popped in to local hobby shops, that are not overly local and they either don’t seem to care about suggesting anything or if they do it’s something like a plane or Intercity 125. For this reason I trend to stay in my lane…for now 🤔👍
