Great video guys! I have to say I’m pretty impressed with the MB-01 and I’m loving the high motor position. Makes the car so much more balanced. Im building the Kadett and so far it’s been a great build and there are some great reasons to get this over an M05 for example. So I’m a bit tired of the negativity and the pointing out of said “slop” in other videos. I even mention it in my build series as it’s been hard not to look for when that’s all people want to talk about lol. However…the chassis was designed to give you options…and it does so very well. It’s so much easier to work on than an M05 too. And like you mention I do think with time and possible aftermarket parts you could probably make it do quite well at the track.
@RCsoandso2 күн бұрын
It really doesn’t get the love it should, Tamiya has given options here, so you can make it your own, but most people just want to moan about it. It’s a nice little compact chassis that does the job well. Looking forward to when you get yours finished 👍

It makes a nice change to hear someone actually giving some praise to the MB01, all I've seen so far is negativity..... mainly due to the alleged slop. Must admit, I'm more of a 'vintage' enthusiast, although I'm very impressed with the various body's that are available for this platform. Its kind of bizarre really, everyone always hates on Tamiya for just bringing out re re's of old kits..... but then when they do bring out new models, people get so critical, and usually then say that they should just stick to doing re re's!! 🙄 Guessing a lot of us are just stuck in the nostalgic past...... who knows, maybe in another 30 years we will be raving over the MB01s, TD4s etc In the same way we currently rave over the lunchies, Avantes, and grasshoppers of the eighties? 🤔 Come to think of it..... how many of us will even still be here in another 30 years time? I can picture it now, all sitting in the old people's homes that always smell of wee and TCP..... the old grannies knitting, and us lot tinkering away on a Tamiya lunchbox doing our best to grasp the box wrench with our failing eye sight and arthritic fingers!!! 😂 Fun little run guys, those magnetic cones are every driver's rc nemesis! 👍 👍 👍
@RCsoandso2 күн бұрын
Controversial opinion, maybe the so-called ‘slop’ is a case of a bad workman blaming his tools! Let’s face it we all build these things, and I’m sure some have their quirks, I know mine do. I don’t think we will have care homes in 30 years time, the way this country is going we will either be left on a hill or taken to the nearest Soylent Green Facility!
@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC2 күн бұрын
@@RCsoandso I agree matey......especially after the events of the last 24 hours, we are all totally doomed!! 😵 But, I won't go down the politics route. Regarding our models, you are certainly correct there mate. We are the mechanics, and its down to us to construct each model to the best of our ability. Which, may often result in having to do slight improvements and tweeks to the basic stock rig that Tamiya provide us with..... and that's half the fun in my mind. But we must also remember that the quirks of our certain Tamiyas are what gives them their personality, otherwise we may as well get a boring Arrma or Traxxas. Take our trusty lunchbox for example - It's top heavy, doesn't steer great, struggles to keep the front wheels on the ground, is pretty slow, and bounces and slaps all over the place..... but it's always one of the most fun rigs to take out due to these quirks. I've actually previously done a custom lunchbox build to address all of these issues - Steering servo position mod, double wishbone front suspension mod, oil dampers all around (including the 5th shock mod) extremely fast motor, better wheels and tires etc. Was it better to drive? Yes substantially!! But was it more fun? No way!!! By ironing out all the quirks it becomes just another RC..... In reality, it ruined it! So, I'm definitely intrigued by the MB01, and may well pick one up at some point..... kinda hoping Tamiya will put one out with the original mini body on it! 🤞 👍 👍 👍

Years ago, my friend came up on an orange, Opel Cadet, way over here in California. I'm not sure how many were imported here, it was a left side drive so maybe it wasn't so rare, but I never saw, or have seen, another one in person. I really like this chassis tho. I've always been partial to the mini chassis, way back to the M01 in the form of a Mini Cooper. The M03 (also a Mini Cooper) was by my favorite. Some please tell me to put down my phone and resist the urge to buy, yet another, RC car...
@RCsoandso2 күн бұрын
In the UK the Opel Kadett was the Vauxhall Astra and these were the right had drive ones, so I’d say that would have been even rarer, but it is unusual for someone to ship so far. I would never force you to buy another RC, but if your happy to have a gap in your collection, well 🤣😂👍

I do like my little MB-01 Alpha Romeo (Italian Herbie!). There is a little bit of slop in it but nothing I was not able to shim out. I am sure it was lots of laughs with it out there! Take care guys!

Hey good work on the body. I guess the real test of the paint will be it you land it upside down on some tarmac. One top tip to keep the sand out of these is to use a Sand Viper body under the Holiday Buggy body to act as a dirt guard. You do need to trim it a bit. Anyway top work as ever guys 😁👍👍

Hope you are going to paint it, although you may know this already but the reason Mercedes racing colour is silver, comes from it used to be white, but they determined that the lead in the white paint added a few fractions of seconds to the performance time so they stripped all the paint of and ran them just with the metal.
