I think you can’t do anything wrong buying this kit, if you want a rc car. build it and run it, just as it is. Great value for money. Nicer than other brands for the money. And great start to pimp it with nice hopups if you want to take it further as a hobby.

Plastic on metal doesn't require grease (plastic is self-lubricating). Grease plus dirt equals grinding paste so you're better off not using grease no matter what the manual says. Tamiya is just wrong on the use of grease everywhere. Let's remember they're in business to make money and they make money by selling kits and replacement parts. I really wish they would supply hinge pins with their TT-02 rally car kits, those ball joints on the front suspension are absolute rubbish.😒 Ball joints have no place on off-road vehicles. Another very entertaining video - thanks for posting!! 😁

Good work and a top looking buggy, Glenn! You are spot on, it's a cool handling car but it does ride too low - it's better if you move the bottom shock mounts to the inside holes on the wishbones. You're gonna love driving this one! All the best, mate! :-)

@@TAMIYALegends Im late to this but i thought id chime in anyways, the Plasma Edge 2 is my first rc kit and after getting it together (partly with help from the vid, thanks :)) i also thought it was real low. To try and alleviate this i designed+printed new rear arms and longer eyelets for the shocks. The ground clearance is now 31mm, an extra centimeter or so. With the extended eyelets in front ive mounted the shocks in the middle slot and for the back they are in the outermost one of the new arms so there isnt a lot of lever action on them as opposed to when moving to the inner slots for extra height. Id be happy to share the STLs for anyone wanting to print their own.

Cool build, I like the plastic bearings & the plastic centre shaft 😂🤣(kidding) Glenn, you must try a few drops dish washing detergent & water, in a spray bottle. Spray a little on your fingers, to see if you can feel the soap. Spray a little on the body where you want the Decal, fit the Decal into place, you can move it around. When your happy where the Decal is, then use a Microfibre cloth & work the Water out from under the decal carefully. Then I use a hair dryer to set the Decal. Cheers 👍🏻

I've had a PE2 gun metal ready to build for a couple of months now. I didn't realise how much plastic was in the kit - so I've been buying a few 'hop-ups'. Think I'd definitely like metal gears now too before I start! I could have just bought a Top Force but I do love the look of this buggy. Great video as usual Glen

Hi Rob, I am very late to the party judging by how long ago your video was made. I normally build and fly RC aircraft, never been interested in RC cars. Now I have a grandson I took a closer look at RC cars and made the decision to buy a Hyper Go 16208. It is absolutely great fun. My prospective son in law then gave me a Tamiya Baja Champ to refurbish. It is a little beyond me to get up and running and having costed the new parts it required, probably not worth it anyway. Hence I started looking at other Taimya kits and came across your channel. The Plasma Edge was the car that interested me. Your video is absolutely brilliant. It’s definitely made me put this kit on my shopping list, knowing that I can reference the video if I ever get stuck with the building. Great tips and advice in the comments section too. Thanks you have have given a 65 year old man child some inspiration and interest.

Great vid Glenn. Wasn't keen on the abundant plastics in the kit but I have to admit they appear to work very well. Those decals looked tough. This can be one of the trickier parts for the new builder, it surprised me how tricky the Grasshopper stripes are. If you don't cut those out (they're pre-cut on the kit) there's no way you can get a six inch stripe right.

This video definitely eliminates TT02B from my list of possible Tamiya cars to build... and I'm not 100% sure I want the onroad TT cars my son and I have been talking about building ... gonna have a good look at a few buddies Euro Trucks first.... I still want a couple Tamiyas for my collection, but the more I watch the more I think it won't be for the purpose of DRIVING themmicb, just a few for building/collecting ...and for mayne an initial drive and an easy drive every 7 or 9 blue moons... Which Tamiya kits do you think are the best for actually using once in a while, not bashing but also don't want it to break just looking at it sideways while it's moving about the yard... Cheers...

I built a Neo Scorcher last year and was really impressed how well balanced it was straight out of the box so I will be interested to see what you think of this one running and how it improves with any upgrades later. Only problem I had was the front drive shafts popping out of the cups on impact occasionally. Otherwise a great car for the money. Love the channel. Happy RCing!

Thanks for the video! I've been eyeing one of these for a while. I used to hate putting decals on until I started using warm water with a drop of dish soap, it allows you to maneuver the decal into the right place. Use some tissue to squeeze the excess water out and if needed, hit it with warm air from a hair drier to massage into any tight corners on the body.

I was all ready to criticize you for not using bearings, fortunately for me, I watched more of the video. With the soft plastics you pointed out and the flimsy shock stays, it seems to me that unless you are doing a lot of other upgrades, putting the bearings on is a little like putting lipstick on a pig. If I had been doing this, I would not have thought of not putting on the motor cover but, after watching you, it looks like a good idea.

You don't grease the suspension arms because it'll attract dirt and grit which when mixed with the grease will transform into an abrasion paste. Not only will that muck up the action but in short order it will wear the mounting pins and the chassis tub receiving holes. The reason for the flexi shock towers is for durability. This is intended as a beginner kit, and they are rough on their rigs. The flexi shock towers will absorb repeated impacts. Swapping out to the FRP or aluminum hop-ups can result in snapped hop-up towers, bent shock shafts, or broken suspension arms.

Those shock towers are shocking! I'd be drilling some 4mm aluminium using the plastic part as a template to anglegrind the shape and a couple of nuts and bolts with a sleeved bushing! I think I would have switched the motor wires instead of servo reverse:)

No way, aloy part will bend and the plastik parts of you screw them to. need reenforced plastic or epoxy/glass parts. The speedo has much weaker reverse than forward. Using the reverse of the speedo to go forward (what you do when switching the cables) will leave you with a slow forward and might eaven burn the reverse fets. The drivetrain graphic on the front of the box is wrong: one of the diffs should be on the other side, car wont drive anywhere that way.

Hey-up Glenn! Top Build Video by the way! That buggy looks awesome now that you’ve applied the Decals to it. I found it looked great even without them, but you may have just twisted my arm into sticking mine on, as it definitely takes it to another level! Gave mine it’s maiden spin the other day on a combination of concrete road, caravan concrete bases and grass verges - she drives very good indeed! So I’ll be intrigued as to how you find yours to be running completely Stock. But remember to use a LiPo alarm if you’re planning on running the TBLE-02S ESC with a LiPo, as the in-built cut-off voltage protection is way too low for them... Great vids, as always, fella! 👍

TAMIYA Legends Hi Glenn, You definitely inspired me into applying the decals on my Plasma Edge II. I delved into it on a very dull Saturday afternoon over the English Bank Holiday Weekend. And I’m absolutely overwhelmed with the results indeed! One thing to to note is that I found by fitting the main bonnet decal first, I could align all the others around it. Cutting them all out was a pain, admittedly. So, it would be super cool if Tamiya could be persuaded into offering pre-cut decals (and also including proper bearings instead of those throw-away plastic malarkey’s...) All the best anyways!
