In this video I build a Tamiya Plasma Edge II (TAM58630) on the TT02B chassis. This is not a sentimental or nostalgic build for me. This was just a fun looking 4WD buggy kit that I wanted to try out. I have already built a TT02 chassis car and this is not terribly different other than the suspension. I wish I could have gotten some running video but our first real snow of the season hit and it is too deep for this fairly low buggy to get around in. I’ll post some running videos on Instagram once it melts outside!
Check me out on Instagram for other random photos and videos in between the posts here! / holeechit

My son got one for Christmas, after a few runs, we run 25wt oil in the front and 30wt oil in the back. That got rid of the back end bounce.

I am pretty sure I have swapped the oil out more than once by now trying different weights. On the track it does pretty good now. I think I running somewhere around 20 in both but honestly cannot remember! Have fun with it, they are great kit and lot and lots of upgrades available if anything goes wrong!

By people not commenting on your videos it means you're doing everything good I like how you coil your wires I also do that I bow to you and how good you are at cutting out and applying decals I can and never will do that I don't have the patience for it
@AddamsPlayground

Yeah these older ones did not get too many comments when they came out. Now it is much busier in the comments section. I don't think too many folks comment on old videos as they don't get replied to on other channels. I try to respond to all of them. I don't coil up the wires on all the builds, sometimes it is easier and cleaner to zip-tie them up neatly and keep them from flopping around. It is an old habit of doing it all the time and it does look kind of cool. I actually enjoy putting the decals, cutting them out can be tedious sometimes but it is the final coming to life part I enjoy!

Hey Addam. As I have already written a few videos before, thanks a lot! This will help me for my TT-02B Plasma Edge II holiday build. The thing about the position of the dampers is very interesting, by the way 👍👍
@AddamsPlayground
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
Putting them more inboard helped raise the front up and required less preload clips to be added which will overall soften the suspension but keep the front from bottoming out too hard, If I just left them in the center position I thin the preload would have made it too stiff and not driven as nicely. I am no tuning expert and just tweak things by feel until it works out. So far it has done well with this setup. You are going to get some chassis slap due to the low slung nature of it but it is a tough, thick chassis so it should hold up for quite a while!!

It is not a bad little kit and tons of hop up out there for them. I do have to say I really like the thunder dragon way better. I know it is a little bit more expensive and is a unique look but that and fire dragon perform way better in my opinion. If you are not dead set on 4wd then take a look at the neo fighter. (spilling the beans a bit but I have video on that one out soon.) it seems to be a very nice kit so far, need to get out and run it but I am pretty sure that is going to be a really great bang for the buck car! Stay tuned for that coming up soon! Thanks for watching and for subscribing!

Great video, and super helpful. I'm building one for myself as I type this. :) Just an FYI, it's not Lame Flake, like "that was lame". It's pronounced Luh-may Flake. Normally it has a little accent mark (Lamé) but Tamiya omitted it for some reason.
@AddamsPlayground

Thanks, glad it was helpful. I will continue to call it lame flake just because it is a silly name, no offense to the proper pronunciation, I am just a old child! LOL! Thanks for the info though.

The clearance is the only thing that puts mevoff the kit. It does look mean though. I would upgrade the drive cups and shafts for sure. Saying that, the Holiday buggy always worked well with plastic but I just had to change to metal. Great video 👍🏼
@AddamsPlayground
@AddamsPlayground 2 жыл бұрын
It does pretty well but would be more at home on a dirt track or something similar but with the smooth underside it goes across the grass and stuff pretty well. I need to put a better motor in it and give it some more guts and I think it will be better for sure. I'm gonna run the stock one until they wear out and then upgrade the driveline to metal.

i wanted to get the Tamiya Experience, heh. So as my first tamiya kit i got the PLasma Edge 2 Iridescent green or whatever the name(green that shifts with other colors) i also got bearings as i didnt wanna deal with plastic bushing, and instead of its own ESC i got the XL5 from Traxxas(taken from bandit, 2s lipo only) Spectacular fun to bash with as it is, small enough, slow but fast enough to play around in the gravel parking lot here nearby. LAter i got a 15turn HPI motor, got itself some more punch, great fun. Currently planning to add a Hobbywing 1080 ESc, for more adjustable parameters and just overall improvement(i know its sold as crawler esc, but its rather good as non crawler esc too, relatively affordable, lots of adjustable parameters. and 3s capability, but most likely will run it most of the time as 2s)
@AddamsPlayground
@AddamsPlayground 2 жыл бұрын
Tamiya is in its own category of RC for sure. They are fun kits to assemble and have a wide range of styles and types. That 1080 is a very versatile ESC, just make sure to lower that drag brake!!!! Thanks for watching and hope you are enjoying your Plasma!!!

The videos are awesome! i wouldnt even worry about putting music on the running of them, i kinda just want to hear the rc motor sounds. But the time lapse music is cool though! I really enjoyed how you did the onboard cam of the nissan kingcab run. Learn alot from your videos! I would say play more with camera angles and more cameras (if possible) for filming the runs but as far as the info and builds and workshop side of things you got that dialed in! Just trying to give some constructive feedback! Love this channel!
@AddamsPlayground
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I do appreciate the feedback a lot. I have tried to keep some of the sounds in the more recent running videos to where you can hear it over the music. The camera angles and on board can be a pain sometimes and I may record some but they don't turn out well. I like the little action camera but sometimes the settings get defaulted back to factory and I don't see it until I edit and then it is all wonky and not great at all so I don't use it. I need to use it more often to get better with it. Sitting in the garage and talking feels more natural than the running videos still. It is frustrating to set up al the cameras and then go to edit an find out the is a terrible glare all of a sudden and 10 minutes of footage for that angle it crap and unusable and other stuff lie that happen you can't prepare for. In the garage I control the lights and stuff stuff. Give me another couple years and I might figure it all out... maybe!! LOL!! I really do appreciate the feedback and I am always trying to get better but it is easy to fall into a routine and not think of better ways!

@@AddamsPlayground Yeah man just play around with it when you feel like it! I have seen some youtubers put removable wall mounting putty on the bottom of some cheap cameras to hold the camera on the rc bodies. You can get it at office supply stores for a few dollars. Maybe even do a quick voice over when you are running it around the track to talk about how it was driving at the time, you can do that in editing. Just some ideas trying to help! I have only built 1 tamiya kit and itching to do another!! Really want to do a clod buster! These kits are addicting!!

I really like the TT-02B, despite its obvious limitations! Surprisingly, I've never had one. MAYBE I'll WIN one!!! 😁 I've given this Chassis a lot of thought. My friend, Mark Bryan has too. It's capable of doing more. It can have more Suspension travel and front CVDs are a MUST. There's other tweaks too! 😉 I'm picky about their Bodies.... Love the Plasma Edge Body. Hate ALL of the forward Cockpit Bodies. I really like the "Lame Flake" effect!! IF I should win, I'd want a can of Lame Flake with it, unbuilt as I said before, without a Radio.... Yes, I'm sounding confident! In my position, hope is really all I've got. As a Disabled Vet, it really appalls me, how LITTLE Our Government gives us to try to live on. It's now less than Rent.... Thankfully, many of my Brethren don't have it as bad as we do. Although a few do. 😞🇺🇸

One of these days I am going to get some hop-up parts on it and see what it can really do! I keep saying I am going to get some but they are so expensive and I usually find another kit I want and forgo the parts for a new kit. If you do win the 1K giveaway one and don't need the radio I am sure we can find a can or two of paint for you to go with it! I am sorry to hear times are tough for you my friend. The price of everything going up and up all the time isn't going to help either. I agree with how sad our country handles our vets... I won't get into here, I try an stay as politics free as I can on here.

I also attempt to stay away from politics.... sometimes I fail. 😜 The mods we're planning are all low cost. Not counting any Alumininium upgrades! Those will be counted separately. I hope that digital people picker likes me!! 😜😊

@AddamsPlayground

I painted the wing on the wrong side. The masking film was one on the bottom of the wing and I was not paying attention and painted it from the top as it was opposite of the protective film. I should have taken the film off, painted it from the bottom side and the wing color would have matched the body perfectly. Since one is underneath and one is on top the shades don't match up. It is not a huge thing but it is pretty noticeable in person.

It is a fairly simple kit. The only area if issue you may run into is making sure the suspension arms go on the right way. There are several length wheel bases you can make so double check them to ensure you have the correct orientation and lengths when assembling. Everything else is pretty straight forward in the instructions.
