Hi - Great video and I have subscribed to you today. Quick quick question if I may? Here's my thing.... confused whether to buy 2 lenses for my a6400 - the Sony 18-105 f4 for video and ALSO the Sigma 56mm 1.4 for stills. OR just purchase the Tamron 17-70 for both jobs in one lens. I think the Tamron's video has it nailed but not sure about the sharpness of the stills? Your thoughts please......Peter.

Standard shot comparisons in good lighting, I find the 18-135 stands very close in quality. Particularly for the size/weight ratio compared to the Tamron. Lower light, the f2.8 is great, but still not as good as having a Sigma 1.4

I've been going back and forth about this lens, or maybe the Sigma 18-50, but I use my Sigma 16mm f1.4 and my Sony 35mm f1.8 99% of the time, (I shoot on a Sony a6400, often along with my Weebill S) and with clear image zoom, I just don't see why I would need this lens, other than it's a little bit more convenient, but with less creative flexibility because of aperture. I guess it's good to have a solid zoom lens, in general, but for my filmmaking, which is exclusively narrative and documentary, I usually have things planned out, or at least it's rarely "run and gun" for me, and so, primes are fine for now.... but damn, this lens is so appealing. ;) Great review, thanks for sharing.

Yup shoot fast primes like me. Nothing can replace fast primes. But their lens is handy for run and gun

How fast is the focusing motor? Does it compare to Sony's XD Linear motor in their GM lenses?

It uses Tamrons RXD motors and not the faster VXD ones in the newer and higher end lenses. Still capable for sure but nothing mindblowing.

Hey Stefan ! im an owner of an a6400 and i have a weebill s, i am really considering getting the 16-55 f2.8 for that extra sharpness, but usnsure if im going to get good stable video over having this lens on the gimball instead. any advice would be appreciated!

Just got my 17-70 and tested with a6400, weebill s, it's perfect. Tamron with VC is a masterpiece for 6400. Go with Tamron.

How well do you think this lens compares to the sony 16-55 2.8 G? Would you think the VC on the tamron + a6400 (no ibis) will produce less shakey results than the sony1655 + a6600 (with ibis)? Or is the results gonna be pretty similar
