I like the idea. I'm always skeptical of how well it really works for details, like foliage, at range at 400 mm but I'm sure I can find reviews for that too. Good to know about the AF motor being quick over such a long focusing range. I've always enjoyed Tamron lenses since my original 150-600 and 15-30. But for now, I'm going to keep my 150-500 and Nikon 24-120 - a pair of terrific lenses I already own.

I like the lens i have yhe z 7II but im wondering about the absence of the full frame capabilities and if there is any image defect zoomed in

how does this compare to the 100-400s line? I am intrigued by the 50 end up to 400 especially for sports, however not a keen on the 4.5-6.3. Is it as crisp as the 100-400s? how will it perform on a cloudy day during sports?

I am (amongs others) an avid aircraft spotter and used the Nikkor 100-400mm S in the past but missed the 50-100mm focal lenght more often than I would have ever expected! Although the quality was absolutely fantastic, I switched (with quite a heavy heart) to the Tamron 50-400mm as an early (first day) adaptor. In the center you will find hardly any difference in the image quality of both lenses, but in the corner and in the 300-400mm range the Nikkor is more or less visibly more "crisp"! But if you consider the price difference between the two lenses you really get a very good/high build and image quality with the Tamron 50-400mm!

Well don, just purchased for my Nikon Z system based on reviews of the Sony and a couple of reviews on KZbin. So far I'm very impressed with the lens.

Honestly, if it's focus by wire, why don't they (not just Tamron) put the focus ring towards the front of the lens, and the zoom ring closer to the camera? It makes bumping the focus while you're holding the zoom ring far less likely.

Great video, however I don't think this is available for L-mount unfortunately. There is a Sigma 100-400.

This looks good but I wish they'd gone for 100 to 400 like the dslr version as on this new model the aperture rapidly reduces where from an early point you are already at f6.3.
