The French should be thankful to these Gurung people who fought against the fascist and helped in their liberation in second world war. How many Gurung men died in the war there is no record of it but whatever left of this tribe is fighting a losing battle to protect their identity whether it is in France or in any part of the world. It must be harrowing for these people to see their culture and language perish in front of their own eyes.
