Tamu actually comes from Fusion Jazz space. However, she can play anything. And her own channel has over 40 million combined views. She has been a very respected session drummer. She is a current member of Nemophila, an all-female metal band. Just wanted to add one more thing. This song is from the project band Nakayoshi Metal which is headed by Daisuke Kurosawa who is the lead guitarist. he is an absolute monster guitarist. Daisuke and Tamu go a long way. Daisuke does a lot of metal/Fusion Jazz/Rock and stuff and his channel has a lot of his own sessions with Tamu in it. You can even see videos that are 6 years back with session metal songs with Tamu hitting the drums. They are absolutely on fire. Here is a Fusion Jazz Metal instrumental song. featuring Tamu >>> Cytus II < ISPION > >>> kzbin.info/www/bejne/oajWlJyOosRqqaM

I appreciate very much that you are now pretty deep in the Japanese female drummer "rabbit hole". So you MUST react to Junna too! She now is in the band HAGANE but earned fame on her own channel covering many well known songs (like for instance Dragonforce's "Through the Fire and Flames"). At the pandemic time she was some sort of light in the darkness for me... As Haruna from Lovebites she is a "small one" - some 150 cm small, but a true volcano of energy. She is so amazingly entertaining and of course a super precise and skilled drummer too. Gee Anzalone (the drummer of Dragonforce) said in a reaction video to Junna's cover of Through the Fire and Flames, that Junna was the best doing this song - except of himself

As others probably have mentioned, she's as much a jazz-fusion drummer as prog/metal (one of her previous bands was Soramimi with Juna Serita), but her main project since 2019 is the all female metal band Nemophila. She has played as support drummer for Gacharic Spin twice, first for a few gigs in 2018 and then again in 2021 when current drummer Yuri was on maternity leave (and their male support drummer Levin wasn't able to perform) for their regular appearance at annual all female music festival Naon no Yaon (Nemophila were also playing, so Tamu pulled double duties). She's a multi-instrumentalist with drums as her primary instrument and her husband is composer Akira Yamaoka, most known for writing the Silent Hill soundtracks. Been professionally active for over a decade both in bands and as a session musician and still only in her early 30s.

Murata Tamu was my first Drummer crush in this Rabbit Hole of Japanese music I fell into some years back, and she is still up there at the top of the list with the likes of Senri and Kanade. The frog on her shirt was kind of a trademark of hers, as she wore many different shirts with it in her videos growing up. I don't know much about a lot of the old cartoons over there, but I asked her on a live chat and she told me it was Pyonkichi, or The Gutsy Frog. Sometimes he's angry, sometimes he's smiling. There is some useless trivia for the day.

Ha! You found the Japanese metal drum queen. I don’t think she’s everyone’s cup of tea, but she’s brilliant either way. She’s the drummer for Nemophila, who are top tier (obviously). She’s made me cry twice now. She’s THAT good. She’s actually a top tier all round musician, she used to do solo live streams, singing and playing keyboards - music is her thing and she made a good choice.

Thanks for this reaction, Tamu is a great drummer. From what I've read, she used to teach at a music school in Tokyo (not sure if she still does) and has worked with Roland for different projects. She's worked with Yoyoka (when Yoyoka was around 12) in judging young drummers for a contest (I think the winner received a Roland V drum kit). She also demonstrated a Roland model along with Yoyoka in a side by side drum solo - kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5-qo416l7aqfLc

Ludwig was in the 60s and 70s THE drum brand, almost every major band had drums by Ludwig (starting with the Beatles, later Doors, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Scorpions, Queen, Led Zep, Van Halen, ...). Ludwig lost most of its market share due to quality problems in the 80s and 90s, changed owners and is now a brand of Steinway.

hey D_R... question for you. I don't think it's Murata-san's set-up but instead it's Chika-chan's of HANABIE's set-up. She has a smaller drum on the outside of the kick drum attached. (I don't even know if it's a drum. Some say it's a massive microphone.) Do you know what that is and what it's for? Thanks! Happy New Year!
@DrumRoast19 күн бұрын
Yes it's a huge microphone (a loudpeaker with the wiring reversed) inside a drum shell to capture extremely low frequencies, I personally don't see a use for it besides in live music situations (with GOOD speakers) 🤣 HNY!!!
