The reason time speeds up is kind of mathematical… When we are two years old, one year represents 1/2 of our life. At 10 years of age, 1 year represents 1/10 of our lives, and concurrently, at 50, 1 year represents 1/50 of our lives. So Mae Martin, time is in fact not at all linear. Is does speed up.

14:16 mae, it’s a couple things. everything, including life, is relative. so when you’re young, say 10, a year of life is 10%. when you’re 50, a year of life is 2% of your lifespan. the other reason is because of memory. when you’re young, everything is fresh and new, so your brain is storing those memories as distinct events. when you’re older, you’ve experienced more things more frequently, so your brain kind of brushes all the similar events into the same bucket, going into autopilot on your routine and creating less distinct memories that take up precedence in your conscious mind

Okay, I've never commented over here before, but on the off chance they (or Thomas) see this, I need to tell my Bunny Foo-Foo story! So, my mom wanted to be an actor, so by the time I was willing to be on stage in front of people, she made sure we were! The first thing I ever did was play Bunny Foo-Foo at 6 years old in my school's talent show. I sang the song to my friends who agreed to be the "Field Mice" and my mom was the "Good Fairy"-- Fortune, that's who sings "I don't wanna see you scooping up the field mice and bopping them on the head". I assured all of my Field Mice friends that all they had to do was fall down, but I promised I wouldn't actually hit them (but I was 6 and it inevitably became the #1 accident of rehearsals). What I haven't seen anyone else tell is what happens to Bunny Foo-Foo, which delights me to this day!! The Good Fairy tells Bunny not to bop the field mice anymore or she'll turn Bunny into a Goon! She does this twice and on the third time Bunny Foo-Foo is turned into a Goon, which for our production meant that I zipped myself out of my Bunny onesie, and over my head my mom slipped a big hoop with strips of our old curtains hung off of it, and I was officially a Goon. If you're ever worried about what it would be like to be a Goon, just know, it's just a hoop with old curtains that your hair gets caught in when you bow! And that is the story of Bunny Foo-Foo, Mae!😊 Love the show! I listen every week while I am at work

I'm happy to hear y'all like to be at home with your loved ones (human & pets.) I used to like to go out more pre-pandemic and when I had an unhappy home life. Post-pandemic, at age 49, I'd almost always prefer to stay home & enjoy spending time with my son before he leaves my nest. I also prefer time alone at home when my son is out with friends rather than going out myself. I appreciate having a peaceful home to relax in. If I could have a pet live here with us, I'd feel even happier. Thanks for the laughs as well as the sincere moments. I love Handsome!! I'd love to see y'all host SNL! Thomas should be involved with that, too!
