My paints always end up darker than most others I see online. I like the nuil oil shading for most of my minantures. Their paints are not bad would cut down on the job queue. I am going all-in on the kickstarter in June. I just finished MD2 painting all the minis. Thanks for the video....

Are you using Contrast Colors or Speed Paints? Those shouldn't be too dark unless you are really putting on a lot of paint.

My copy has been in the shrink wrap for a while now, but your review is what pushed me over the edge to go ahead and open it. Between you, BoardgameCo, Hungry Gamer, and the fact that I at least THINK I'm interested in the gameplay based on playthroughs and rules explanations, I feel more confident that I'll enjoy it. I did not finish week 1, and it is already my favorite Crawler. What a fantastic game. I just wish I had your ability to paint because your set looks even more awesome. Congrats, and I will be digging your work on some other games that I also have.

Do you have a size comparison between a modern Wizkids prepainted dragon and a Tanares prepainted one? Looking to pick up the Tanares on but their dragons look tiny compare to the Wizkids one. Thanks and happy gaming!

Yes, you do need Arena the Contest to play Tanares. Mostly it is for the components, like the game board, some tokens and cards, etc. The upcoming Kickstarter should explain it in detail on June 27.

Great video as usual. Your paint and builds are stunning and are inspiring me to paint my models from this range. I was woefully disappointed by this Kickstarter, however. Aside from a few standout large monster sculpts like the Beholder, none of this stuff was worth the wait or the hassle of doing a Kickstarter. You can get miniatures as good or better from Reaper and other companies. The game itself is so complicated and cumbersome, that you can do dungeon crawls much more easily with 5e and a few random tables. Very much regret kicking this one...

Sounds like you wanted a mini collection for D&D, not a board game :D Pretty different things, especially gameplay-wise.

@Tharuk No, I wanted good minis and a boardgame worth the time to learn. Got mediocre minis and a boardgame not worth my time. Also, boardgames have been one of the best sources for D&D minis around. So expecting that from this game isn't unreasonable... ... sadly you should skip these minis for any use whatsoever...

You should be able to sell it fairly easily and get your money back, but you might want to do it before the second Kickstarter on June 13.

Listen, usually, I'm all for respecting people's opinions, but this comment I just read is just ridiculous. I mean, "mediocre minis and a board game not worth my time"? That's either a complete lack of understanding of the market or some personal issue behind the argument. I could go on and on about what I think, but honestly, the BGG rating and reviews, in general, should speak for themselves. You can say you don't like the minis or don't like the style for some reason, but calling it mediocre completely undermines your argument. If this is your line of thinking, then maybe this game isn't for you. You need a bit more critical thinking and reasoning to be able to appreciate the gameplay.

Those pre-paints look like they're from the dollar store. You did way better painting yours!

Thanks, Tyson! It's hard to do a good job with any mass-produced prepainted minis but I think they did a pretty good job with these. You could do extra layering on these prepaints if you wanted to, but at that point, you might as well paint the whole mini yourself.
