Tangerine Tiger Pepper

The origination story of the tangerine tiger pepper, a cross between the aji tangerine by Susan Garza and sugar rush (stripe) by Chris Fowler. The accidental cross was developed in my greenhouse and first grown by Elena Kadomtseva in 2020.

Hi Paula! I love it! Your cross is amazing and I’m so happy to be a part of it! Ok I’ll say it for the first time here, the Aji Tangerine is an Aji Amarillo X Aji Fantasy. I grew out your Tangerine Tiger and got a really nice yellow and orange stripe with great pheno. I’ll grow it next season and send you seeds if they look good. Take care!

You had sent me seeds of your yellow one. I grew it last year but unfortunately mine didn't come out yellow. Craig Pepper Grower Jennings is growing a couple that are coming out yellow but they seem to be the most rare at least of the ones he's growing which is a lot. Thanks for sharing the cross. I had a feeling it might have some aji fantasy. :)

Exciting stuff! I'm finally growing out your Tangerine Tiger this year! F3 though. I just started soaking the seeds a few minutes ago.. I'm actually looking forward to having an early/unstable variety, it'll be fun. I can't wait for some pods! (sorry i've been such a ghost as a channel member)

Is the Tangerine Tiger as sweet as the SG Aji Tangerine? Do you sell both varieties? What is the sweetest pepper you sell? I've just been on a quest for the sweetest low heat peppers and the Ai Tangerine, Aji Guyana, Brazillian Starfish and peachadew have all had amazing sweetness to heat ratio.

I still have some aji tangerine seeds that I saved but can't guarantee they aren't cross pollinated since I didn't isolate. That is how the Tangerine Tiger was discovered. Sent some aji tangerine seeds to a friend and the peppers came out striped. I've grown all those you mentioned and agree they are really good varieties. I have a cross that came from my mom that is believed to be a cross of a bell pepper and a mushroom pepper that produced some small bell peppers that have mild heat. I've grown some orange ones and last year they came out red.

Amazing. First video I've seen on them. Looking forward even more now to trying these out. How long do these roughly take from germination to fruit and ready to eat? Wondering when I have to pop them in soil.

They're very productive like most baccatums but they do take a while to ripen. It's hard to say as it can vary between growing zones and how much sun/heat you have. I'm in 8b. I usually start the seeds in mid-Feb and transplant outside around mid to end of May depending on weather. Last year I harvested the first one in early August.
