Tangled Tackle / Trolling Speed - What is the Best?

a good technique is running spoons on everything get a good wind at your back and cover water. 3.0 mph isn't too fast of course depending on how much current wind etc. place that spoon alongside boat get that speed up and go from there. now if running them 100 feet or more down its going to be different down there but 3-5 colors high divers etc will be just fine.

I have switched to ninja boards however I have ziggy boards also and they pull out to the side harder so I run them inside of the ninjas.

If I can’t find a working speed 2-2.4 we’ll try zigzagging sometimes when you get lite hits but not hook up pull in neutral and let your lures drop a second or two then kick it in gear

Many reasons for me, but the biggest one is control over the fish.

With boat speed it often comes down to SAFETY FIRST!!! It gets extremely crowded out here in the pacific northwest. To often the boat behind you can be in your propwash. I try not to inconvenience other boats, if in a crowd match there speed. I try to troll slower and run gear the fleet isn't. You are absolutely correct, if all the boats are going 2mph then bump your speed up, I have watched that work lots of time. Congratulations on retirement, I retired after 30 years at ups. At 49 1/2 my body told me it had enough.
