The tip I find helpful is to relax the hip, knee and ankle

Keeping the free leg in contact with the floor is very good tip! Much more balance and graceful - thanks

Thank you for the comprehensive tips! :-) I will apply it next time and update you. My teacher also told me I need to relax/release my hips when pivoting. Will try applying all your suggestions.

Great tips. Thank you very much. The subtitles are not accurate. It says the head is “scary” instead of heavy and somewhere else it was not accurate but still got the message.

Very useful tips! however most of all you forgot to mention of everyday training with legs.Drills are the basis to elegant dancing but most of all physical performance off all body! Strong angle, knee, hips help very much if not prevail in good dancing. We use our legs to walk and it is OK, however if we want to walk to music we have to have a bit more strength in them :) Well, everyday morning 20 min physical drill is needed to have satisfaction at evening ;) My brgds:)

Seeing improvements in 90, 120, 180 and even 270 pivots, but no luck in 360, not even once- would appreciate a short video on differences between them ( any technique differences??)

It may have already been mentioned, but keeping the shoulders level is as important as keeping the hips level. If the head is in alignment, this will basically happen anyway.

Yes, I was able to get a few good pointers. Balancing and pivoting on one foot is a very difficult dance movement for the average, amateur male dancer. Been working on my balancing for quite some time at the gym using various exercises. If I have accomplished anything I have much stronger knee joints and good balance for ADLs.

What about when your lead rushes you? This is a constant problem for me; I am not trying to be dramatic in the step, not taking a long time and adornos, just trying to have correct balance/posture. Yet, I constantly have leads rush me, taking me off axis, and then acting irritated when I don't respond well. I have been told by instructors that it is the lead who sets the pace; how do I follow that rule ,and maintain my need for balance, at the same time?
@lightfoot420513 жыл бұрын
Try applying slight resistance to your movement. Sometimes leaders are not aware they are rushing their follow, but the subtle hint of applying some resistance to fast movement may work.
