The thing with Kiellmann is that she had been to two previous Olympics herself. So the whole give someone else their turn viewpoint was a bit hollow. Kiellmann almost won bronze at 94 Worlds, but she was never close to or a threat for World and Olympic podiums. Too much roller skating influence.

Szewczenko tried to copy Katarina - from her costume (Kati 1984) to the type of music and skating style. But the choreography doesn't fit the music at all. She doesn't seem to have any musicality. She can never reach Katarina. Sorry.

I recall that Kielmann complained about Midori Ito's high scores after the infamous 1991 World short program. Kielmann was a good skater, but perhaps needed to concentrate more on her own program, instead of criticizing others. With her two best program, she could have been a surprise medalist at the Olympics

It's funny to listen to Kiellman snipe about Witt and note that such negativity would never be shown (at least not publicly) by one AMERICAN skater toward another. It just wouldn't happen. They might think it, but they wouldn't say it in an interview.

man i have had a crush on Katarina since i was 6 lol. i get how the other competitors felt about Kati giving one more shot to be an olympic champion, but would you say the same thing to Carl Lewis, or Michael Phelps? This is what they live for..... the thrill of competition and being able to challenge themselves. fact is the other skaters should have seen this as motivation, not only did they have a shot at the olympics, but also to beat their idol to get there, not griping about it...

Shame on Marina Kielman. One of the ugliest skaters ever to poison our eyes. Never succeeded at anything. Funny that Witt "only" came second at Nationals - one place above Kielman.

Marina's comments were sharper than necessary. Her jealousy was clear. Kat had won the Olympics twice. Marina bombed twice. Marina thought 94 was going to be her year but wait... nope. Marina was never going to be a star. Her programs were trash, her jumps were messy if she even landed them.

Marina is right, Katarina didnt need to comeback she already had so much accomplished and should have given a chance to someone else. Kiellman showed she deserved the OLympic spot, by finishing 4th in the worlds that year.

No she wasn't right. Katarina has to right to go as many Olympics as she wants to, of course if she earned it, and that she did. That's like me saying that I want to go to the Olympics and I have a great shot doing so, but no I'm going to let someone else have it. FUCK THAT SHIT!!!! YOU MUST BE OUT YOUR DAMN MIND!!!!
