To be fair and not to be a downer, I wouldn't expect any failures on any car after a single year and just one Russian winter, regardless of the KMs travelled. This thing is probably always at full operating temperature while being used. It's usually multiple winters and many cold starts where issues start to arise, and it would usually take a car 10 years to hit 230k. 230k spread over 10 winters, and many cold starts and short trips would most likely be a different story. I'm from the UK (until 2012) and now live in Australia. Our cars were normally destroyed well before 10 years from road salt, many cold starts, and short trips in the UK, but I daily drove a 32 year old 300SE in Australia for years until very recently. It will be interesting to see how these things hold up after 10 years, as they might become a tempting proposition if they do well!

Fair calls, but the distance this box on wheels travelled through Russia is still INSANE over that 1.5 years, so we could have seen some wear and tear from "cheaper" materials etc. This is what's good about the video, in case you've missed the point.

I own a Tank 500 and it's the Australian hybrid spec. The fit and finish is good I have no doubt it will last but most of the gremlins that people reported are in the hybrid drivetrain not the V6. Would be interesting to see a long term hybrid review. I also get some transmission bumps when starting up but this is pretty common for other cars.

@19jacobob9318 күн бұрын
I doubt he was very rich as the Tank 500 is a cheap alternative to a Land Cruiser or Patrol. As stated in the video the Tank was the only suitable vehicle within his limited budget. The fuel economy sounds really bad though, so he'd have to have some decent cash flow to keep it filled up! 😅

tank 500 is an inhouse 9 speed. the zf has been pretty unproblematic throughout the gwm aus community and a lot of owners are considering not upgrading to the newer cannons when they release due to using the gwm 9 speed over the zf8
@11Sss_ssS1118 күн бұрын
The inhouse 9 speed is a copy of the ZF 9 speed. They’re so confident in the transmission, that they offer 10-15 year warranty on the transmission in middle eastern markets.

I'm a fan of the Tank 300, I don't own one yet, I drive a Jeep but a friend does. Off road they are amazing especially when you compare the price difference to the major 4x4 brands. Although to be honest their ability to carry weight is far less than a patrol or land cruiser, but for a couple with small kids still ok Regarding rust, high milage isn't a factor it's more about time so this car has only done 37000 kms if you average out the typical driver does about 25000 per year. Still impressive though! Thanks for sharing this.

first time in you channel. Im somehow surprised by some of the predicts/ sterotype about reliablility of Chinese cars. even in early days, Chinese car were relatively poorly made, the reliability were acceptable. you know China is the world largest car market, and no matter how you see China and Chinese people, we are normal human too and we need and like "normal" cars. and you also should know China is the largest market for BMW Benz and many other car companies. if Chinese cars are not any good, how would they survive in Chinese market?

Please allow me to elaborate why I, at least, dislike Chinese cars. The first is obvious cost cutting, at least in terms of what's available here. For example, using screens over buttons for more common functions, such as the climate control systems. Whilst I don't mind screens, I don't want to be fiddling with a screen to change the temperature of my climate control or change radio station. Also, they appear noisier than say Hyundai and Kia, for example, on the open road. Lack of sound insulation, basically. For me, and this is the most important factor, is the lack of dealership and servicing network, especially outside of cities. My nearest MG dealership is over 100km away, my nearest Chery dealership is over 200km away. I, like many Australians, keep cars for over 10 years, so long term reliability, and more importantly parts availability, is yet to be proven. Parts availability is proving to be an issue right now. Who knows what'll happen once the US tariffs come into effect. Whilst my next car (awaiting delivery) isn't Chinese, perhaps the one after will be, only time will tell. I personally am not against Chinese cars, or the Chinese people, it's just a shame they don't seem very friendly when over here, the cars are just not for me today.
@Demertech20 күн бұрын
@@arokh72 I wouldn't recommend Chery, look at GWM, BYD or MG if you want a Chinese car in the future. For now I've seen too much cost cutting on chery cars in important places.

Get off your high horse of someone owning (and self-justifying purchase of EV) or promoting EV sales (for one or another reason of personal benefit or employment). It's too obvious and dumb. If there's no solid EV infrastructure, why would anyone buy EVs? 🤷♀️
