Indeed we do, it's an absolute engineering masterpiece in my opinion....... even though it had many teething issues through manufacturing problems. This is what happens when you rush a vehicle into service without A) a proper testing and evaluation process and B) yet again being over engineered. Still a beautiful tank though, they obviously looked at certain qualities of the T-34.

It's "brother" is actually still running in Germany (built in the same way by the brits after the war ended). You can find videos on youtube of it called "Panther im Gelände German Tank in Motion 2009". Sadly they don't really run it anymore as it seems.

faydu laksono Stugs III’s, Panzer IV’s and Jagdpanzer IV’s was used by syria in 67 during the 6 day war so it wouldn’t be surprising if Iraq used some panthers when they were in a tight spot.

it inspired alot of post-war designs, the ARL series is supposed to be inspired by the Panther series. they did have late variants of Panthers in their army after the war too, I'm pretty sure you can find some research in french that were around at the time it was in service.

Hello again. Yes, it seems our discussion has become one about whether there are any limitations to free speech. If I understand you correctly, you argue there are not, that anything goes. I argue that there have to be limits, on the basis that one has no right to hurt others including their feelings and sense of worth. Leaving that aside for a minute, this exchange started because I felt your original comment on David Willey "It was painted icecreamlicious for this poopy pants pompous British know it all to make a fool of himself on TV" was unwarranted and offensive, and I thought about how he might feel should he read it. Being British is not a failing as far as I know, but as regards being a "know it all", he's the curator of a major single-subject museum, it's his job to be able to speak authoritatively on the subject. That's all he did. It seems to me that to defend your comment under the banner of free speech is disingenuous, and in my book you owe the man an apology. Your comment also contributes nothing to the subject and I'm surprised you felt it was worth posting.

Objectively speaking this is the best tank of the war if we look at it as a single vehicle. Jagdpanther was regarded as the best tank destroyer design by the allies. Good armour and mobility. Devastating gun and accuracy. Nightmare situation is to see your tank platoon getting destroyed one tank at the time but you have no idea where the shots are coming from. Hope those Typhoons or P-47's come soon. If we look at it in a bang for your buck sort of way...humble Stug III has amazing efficiency at a very, very low cost.

Amazing suspension system. Complex, but very compliant with enormous wheel travel and floatation. Watching the tank driving off the tank transporter and moving at speed over the washboard track shows the suspension in action.

it is called the 1/3 scheme. it uses a third of the paint. standard red oxide primer with dunkelgelb Camouflage over the top.

The Saxon Panther This Panther was (made) completed in Hannover lower saxony under British control shortly after the War, built by the Maschinenfabrik Niedersachsen Hannover MNH Factory and was produced together with some Jagdpanthers and other Panthers for brit. army trials in the UK. MNH was the only german Factory producing Jagdpanther and Panthers together. Because of paint shortage in late war parts of the camo was made of red Primer. Panther G with early gun mantlet D,A,G type , i wounder that they had no late type Gunmantlets in MNH because the shape of the early type lead to a shot trap when a Round hits the lower part of the Gummantlet.

@Jim Goose true to a point. Every tank had some issue. A product that proves nothing is perfect. Just like cars today. Some have electrical issues, tranny problems, or suspension problems. For the time period it was a piece of art. But that's my opinion.

Awesome Tank.. I collect the 1:16 all metal Tanks, up to 15 of them now, I have most of the main German Tanks and SPG.. Panzer III, Tiger 1 (x2), Panther G, King Tiger 2, Jagdpanther, Sturmtiger.. Really want a Jagdtiger next. Gets expensive, and they take up a bit of room...but look great!

The best tank killer the Germans had was........not the Panther or Tiger, but the Stug III. In theory a great tank, the Panther in practice was too ambitiously designed for its time which was exacerbated by Hitlers meddling regarding the front armor plate, and was never a very reliable tank. It's early problems were only alleviated, never eliminated. Although it is sometimes claimed that it was produced more or just as efficiently than the smaller simpler Mark IV, this comparison was spurious because the Mark IV proved a slow and difficult to built tank, a support tank never meant for mass production. The best German tank was the Pzkw III but it proved too small to be effective with larger anti-tank versions except for the STUG III adaptation. A Pzkw III built to Pzkw IV size would have been the most practical German tank for WWII.

Hi there, I just wanted to say how much I enjoy these videos. As a non-native English speaker, I find the presentation to be very clear and easy to understand, the content is sufficiently shortened yet still interesting even if the viewer already knows some history. And now I really long to visit Bovington! I have one small request though: Could you please try - in the future - to use the German pronounciation of all the German words? I realize that the presenter may not know any German, but it would make these videos that little bit more informational to stand out... :) Examples: "Panther" - there is no "th" in German, it's pronounced "Pun-ter" (like "pun intended"). "Panzer III" - same pronounciation, "Pun-tser" "Maybach" - "My Buck" just with the coughing sound at the end instead of the k ;)

Those things should be pronounced in the speakers accent because they are names given by the speaker's language. In English for example, guerrilla war is originally Spanish but being English it is pronounced in English

Guerrilla, maybe. But this is slightly different. "Crusader" is not a word in German, but going with your argument I should simply pronounce it as "Kroo-saw-dare" because that's my accent? I don't think so. Anyway, not a real criticism, just a missed chance on educating many people with minimal effort.

I always hate when people use the side armor being weak as a problem with the Panther. Literally every tank is weak at the sides and back.

The KW-1 had redicolous side armour for its time, though yeah most MBTs still have side armlur that is weak to medium ww2 field guns.

Agreed - and by all measurements the Panther had pretty good side armor versus its competitors. Still much prefer the Tigers but it boggles the mind how people nowadays are saying the Sherman is better. None of the vets I've talked to in person thought so...
