Based on the animation itself, I'd assume that part of it being broken once you're good is that, just like Pichu in the early days of Smash Ultimate, that tiny hit box makes actually getting a solid hit off a nightmare. Issue is that the tank literally has you controlling the tank cannon through one of the joysticks, rather than using that one for normal inputs, and the cannon just automatically has a bunch of self inflicted knockback, and the whole tank is a hit box when in any sort of motion. Cannon launching and abusing the physics engine by rotating the cannon while it's your main point of contact are the main methods of moving fast enough to hit the good damage per hit thresholds for said movement. You have one attack button, and that's firing the cannon, everything else is your movement.

Think about it though imagine if you put the same motors that can move a mechs limbs like that, the same intertia defying magic or unimaginably durable materials that let a mech move on a dime like that on a tank, the thusters that allow that mech to dash around like that... what would stop a tank from doing this? it has a lot less surface area, so for the same mass of whatever the mech uses as amour, it could layer that amour 3-4 times as thick. it only has to move 2 threads and a turret, so it can put all the power used to move all the joints on the mech into just those 3, and a breach made of whatever that mech is made out of would handle INSANE pressures.

I would unironically love a fighting game like this. Doesn't take itself seriously at all, a non-existant story, complex, flashy combat system, and a wide genre of characters. Im just imagining the roster for this imaginary game and would love it to have a bizarre mix of scifi and fantasy. Futuristic mecha brawling with steampunk robots or fantasy monsters like oni or giants, all the while this tank is styling on a hawken style mech in the background.

M48X Patton: Tank crew "Hummer" has a peculiar taste. Commander J.S. Hatchkinson in particular requested this old model to be heavily modified with the most sophisticated technology we could fit. He said it is to "confuse the enemy" or something. Well, let me tell ya, that big, old, threaded boy has been upgraded to do some mad wicked shit: - A maglev superconductive gyroscopic ring allows its main turret to turn 180 degrees in 0.24s tops. - The tank armor and cannon barrel have been reinforced with a plasteel alloy. Even those newfangled Japanese MBSs can get their plating ripped apart if not careful, and if the commander is crazy enough to use the cannon as a bludgeon. - Micro-gravitic drives have been installed in 64 different points along the chassis and armor. They allow the tank to literally pirouette on one of its threads. There is an interesting aftereffect: turning on all 64 drives at once could theoretically make the tank light enough to jump in the air through the main gun recoil. But the small time window and the coordination required to do so is realistically impossible to manage. - All this needs energy, right? You can forget about those good old diesel engines, not enough power output. Instead, a MMFR (Micro Modular Fusion Reactor) should get the job done. - The .50 cal mounted gun was tricky. The idea was to install a fully functional, .48 caliber automatic railgun, while keeping the same appearance of the original gun. Making the coils fit in the barrel still gives me nightmares. - The main gun surprisingly got almost no changes. However, I personally included a little "ace in the sleeve", so they say. The additional heat from the MMFR can be redirected in the barrel and melt the shell to the point it becomes a load of superheated plasma. Deadly at short range. Also, the confinement coils in the barrel will protect the crew, don't worry. - Finally, the masterpiece. A cutting-edge, state-of-the-art mind link control unit. I saw its effects in testing, it is terrifying. The four men crew got their brain waves so overlapped I was wondering the computer bugged out and showed me the pattern of just a single person. The tank crew was operating as one with utmost efficiency. Even scarier, it comes complete with an integrated AI that is, in all purposes, as a 5th tank crew member, supervising EWAR and logistics, as well as regulating mind-link communication. The boys started calling him "Patrick". Command specifically prohibits to assign names to tactical AIs, but... Ah well, I guess I will leave it out from the report.
