In previous fights, loma wasn't fighting a guy with skills and power. When he did (teo) he lost. Loma has to push the fight and up the pace. None of the things boxinggems pointed out will work on lomachenko because the pressure loma applies makes the opponent lose mental energy and not be able to continually capitalize on the so called mistakes (notice all the footage is from the very early rounds). Boxinggems basically only understands the physical, not the mental aspect of boxing. Tank is a thinker in the ring, and this will make him fall into lomas games and mental pressure. One could make the argument that Lomachenko-not Lionel Messi, not Antonio Brown, not Roger Federer-possesses the best feet in sports. He’s easily the most technically proficient boxer of his generation, quick and agile and explosive, darting in and out, side-stepping blows as if gaming The Matrix, then planting and pivoting and landing at odd angles, never off-balance or out of position. Sometimes opponents even lose track of Lomachenko; it’s as if he’s teleporting around them, or moving them like a matador avoids a charging bull. “When I watch him move, it’s like this beautiful orchestra is playing behind him, and he’s just going, man,” says Cicilio Flores, his strength and conditioning coach. “There aren’t many people alive who can move like that.” Sports Illustrated

Just a personal note but I feel like calling things wrong or errors can be confusing to people. I think a lot of people walk away from this video thinking that Lomachenko has bad footwork which isnt the case. The best way I've heard it described personally was from Jack Slack who said that fighting is all about habits and how those habits match up with each other. Cross stepping isn't always wrong, it can be used effectively sometimes but as a habit it is exploitable. That's what this video does, it audits all of Lomachenko's habits and shows where they are exploitable given Tanks habits. Fantastic video as always. Commenting after my second watch and think I'll sign up for patreon tonight.
@BoxingGemsАй бұрын
It’s also not a complete video due to KZbin copyright policy. Obviously Tanks habits are explored as well in the full vid on Patreon. Thanks fam! I’ll see you there! Cross stepping never has more reward than risk. Forward shifting or reverse shifting does. Shifting means you are going from one boxing stance to another boxing stance. Cross stepping just means you are crossing your feet into a non-boxing stance. Boxers need a proper stance or base to use proper mechanics offensively and defensively. If you’re completely out of range of course none of this matters.

This is not a great analysis. I appreciate the effort. In your future analysis, you have to think 6-7 steps deeper and understand setups better. Loma L step and crossing are part of his setups and distance against boxers with wide stances. Boxers with wide stances are so grounded that once he figures out the distance now he is working his angles and setups. A great example fight is Crawford vs Spence. Tank has a tendency to lunge in which makes him susceptible to fighters who are great at angles and distance control. If Loma boxes and makes it a point match, he wins all day.

Loma feasts on fighters his size. Just wait and watch.

He didn't bring up "the fight", he's bringing up the flaws in Loma's footwork during this and many fights. No fighter is perfect, every fighter has flaws. Many of Loma's flaws reside in his footwork. When he's in these positions, do you notice he isn't throwing any punches? This is what Teo took advantage of during the first 7 rounds of the fight.

Another fighter tank should easily beat and when he does we’re going to give him a bunch of credit. Let’s be honest Loma is old, his reflexes and footwork are nowhere near as good as they were 4-5 years ago. Loma is on the back end of 30. It’s just not right that tank gets to beat up on lackluster competition.

Arguably beat Devin last year and was the first man to stop Kambosos
@thisisjustanillusion64862 ай бұрын
@@coachjoey22 umm kambosos is a bum and everyone beats him like the bum he is. Devin is a great fighter but he has a huge flaw in his game that Loma exploited in the end. Loma didn’t win the fight, he beat him up more. The only way to win a fight without a knockout is by points. Loma didn’t win 7 rounds of that fight. Devin weakness is he makes mistakes fighting on the back foot . Ryan hurt him, on the back foot, Loma didn’t hurt him but he got a lot of clean shots while dev was on the back foot.

How old are you?? Did you not see the story with how Loma came into the Sport, and the way he carved a legacy? Anything unique always gets traction, and the way he came in to start fighting seasoned pros so early on in his career made him really stand out. He wasn’t just beating them, but he was straight up destroying them. He coulda came over and fought bums for 25+ matches before any competition and chose to be great. You need to take so much more into context, and so much less into skin color. The skin color talks are so lame.

@@DemisedDill no one is mad brother, I asked for your age because your comments make no sense. I want you to go look at the win ratio of the first 16 people Tank Davis fought… and then I want you to look at the win ratio of every single person Loma fought since day 1. He literally faced top professionals since he debut in 2013, tank Davis debuted similar timeline but chose to fight tomato cans for first 16 matches to play it safe. The route that Loma took was legendary, like you have no idea the type of resume he has if you’re just going by win/loss and YT videos. Brother the reason Loma is SO talked about is not many fighters took the path he took. PAC-man was similar in this regard with some of the big career jumps and risks he took. People who take massive risks in the sport become massively popular. This is why I asked your age, because if you had seen in real time what Loma did over the last 10 years, I don’t think you say what you say. The route the guys you mentioned took and the route Loma took are NIGHT AND DAY difference

I wouldn't be surprised if Loma hurts Tank too. Tank head don't move sometimes and gets hit a lot and Loma might land something sneaky on Tank's chin on the inside. Like how he dropped Commey. Loma isn't fighting someone that is way bigger and taller this time, so he could easily tap that chin anytime when they're fighting on the inside. I never thought Usyk could hurt the bigger Fury that did the Undertaker when he got dropped by Wilder. People are underestimating Loma's power but he might hurt Tank. I’m just sayin 🤷🏽♂️

You're not seeing Loma reset repeatedly. He's resetting his opponent. In between he doesn't need to worry how he's stepping. His footwork alone wears them out. You're focused on his footwork when he's disengaged, and missing the genius when he is engaged. He's using his feet to control rhythm, timing, distance, and position. As the fight progresses, those foot feints and small movements condition his opponent. I won't write a book, but this video was off by a mile.
