This last injury is the nail for me. Beterbiev is my top guy at light heavy and cruiser, over the last 10 yrs I didnt think anyone could beat him in those classes. Bivol was the closest but I was still 60/40 on that one. But with age and this injury, I'm leaning Bivol. The fights don't take out older fighters, the preparation does. He is showing that he is not making it through camps without a bigger injury, that changes the way he prepares next camp to make it to the fight and that effects how he performs on fight night. I think he still has a chance but I'm 65/35 Bivol now. Damn I wish we got this 5-6 years ago

I don't know why you feel this way, BB has become a much more complete fighter over the last 5 years. This latest injury has nothing to do with age, it's a ruptured meniscus which is due to pressure on the joint with bad alignment, the way BB trains and his clunky footwork applies pressure when he leans in for his power jab. this was bound to happen, it's only a 4-8 weeks recovery period. Of course age doesn't stop for anyone, however in this case, it's about the way he fights oppose to age. He is very stagnant on the back foot but very impressive on the front foot, this is always going to cause issues in the joints. I have had it bivol 70/30 even pre-injury. He is just better in too many facets of boxing compared to BB, but BB is still a superstar. And I think this will happen, he will lose to bivol and move up to cruiser, I think he beats everyone too excluding Jai opetaia. Either way he is a good man and a great fighter!

I am simply explaining the injury, which I am educated in this field and why it occurred, of course as far as the fight is concerned I am only sharing my personal opinion so that is different. But I am a huge fan of BB, I will be happy regardless of who wins as they are both exceptional fighters. I just think bivol is the superior boxer overall.

Beterbiev is not Canelo, he is a different monster, Canelo landed shots on Bivol by pushing him up against the ropes and making him guard up, if this happens against Beterbiev it will fare much worse for Bivol than it did against Canelo, Beterbiev is bigger, stronger, and much more of a freak of nature when it comes to strength and power compared to Canelo. I love Bivol, but my bet is on Beterbiev for this matchup, 100%.

None of you guys seem to understand what a meniscus injury is. This is not an acl injury. He will get his meniscus repaired and be back 98 percent normal. He said that he wanted to fight on it meaning his knee is already close to 100 percent, they are just being cautious because if you fight on a tear you can cause degeneration over time. I would bet that he can right now, this is to preserve his long term knee health. Simple meniscus repair means 1.5 months no walking and then he’s back training.

Also most fighters Bivol takes off guard with his Soviet Style but since Beterbiev came up in the same system and as fought 1,000’s of rounds against the Soviet Style he knows it’s weaknesses and how to exploit it. One of the main ways is actually with that lunging jab to close space and force your opponent into high guard so he can work the body. I see Beterbiev consistently backing Bivol into ropes and corner as fight goes on, similar to how he did to Yarde, and getting late round stoppage. I also see Bivol nose getting broken in the 5th round, I know that sounds randomly specific but it’s just what my intuition is saying so I might as well go on record in case it happens.

I still got Beterbiev, his power and mentality is what’s needed to beat a Bivol and his comfortable mentality of being on the outside..Beterbiev will take the risks to make Bivol uncomfortable, and Beterbiev has the skills to combat the style of Bivol unlike his past opponents…Bivol still has a chance to win, but I don’t think he can control Beterbiev for all 12 imo, but either way this fight is going to be amazing however it goes…and I don’t think the injury form Artur will matter that much because he’s been injured before fights so many times and it hasn’t effected his performance yet so I don’t think it’ll effect him now…

I got Bivol for the win. His ability to disable oppo's tools is unmatched, and his defense is as perfect as it gets. BB is gonna be gun shy and frustrated when Bivol punishes every mistakes he make.

Bivol ability to disarm an opponents best weapons is certainly not on the level of a guy like Usyk who Beterbiev gave Usyk closest fight in last 20 years while in amateurs. Beterbiev also doesn’t get gun shy he’s a brute. So all that may sound good but at the end of the day nothing is going to stop Beterbiev from getting Bivol on the ropes at points during the fight, and it is in those moments Beterbiev will hurt Bivol. Bivol had to have the best fight of his life to go 12 rounds with Canelo, now he’s facing a legit CW sized version of Canelo so good luck with that.

Great film study, I can see bivol giving beterbiev fits with his straight right. I can also see him gettin laced with beterbiev’s terminator power hooks. Bivol’s movement is way more defensive and he is able to transfer it to his offense very well I got bivol on points in a very close great fight. Can’t wait to watch!

I like Bivol’s jab defense timing and speed over Beter’s power pressure mauling. Beter drops his right hand when jabbing. Bivol has a counter left hook for jabs in addition to the overhand cross and parry jab catch & shoot. The parry jab counters and pendulum will stop Beter from getting inside. Easy fight for Bivol the more he keeps it at outside to mid range

Something very important which is often overlooked is that Beterbiev when fighting in Montréal, always fights in the smallest possible ring allowed which is 18 feet diameter. This heavily favours his style of his opponents, and in my view flatters to deceive. My understanding is that in the October 12 fight the ring will be at least 22 feet diameter as there are heavyweights on that card. Let’s see how those legs with knee injury hold up

Yeah but he can also get backed up and has to use his jab to keep range because he doesn’t have the power to keep people at range. A jab is not enough to keep Beterbiev away, and he will find ways to back Bivol into ropes and corner more as fight goes on which is when it will start to go downhill.

Bivol doesn’t have any head movement, and sometimes he keeps his hands up and as seen in the Canelo fight, he was hit on the arm, body, and chin. Beterbiev will drive Bivol to the ropes a few times, and measures and hit Bivol in the body, and lands a left hook while Bivol is covering up. Beterbiev by 6th-9th round knockout. If Bivol can fight like Ali he would win, but his in and out style is his downfall.

An easy fight for Bivol. Knee problems easily end the careers of most *young athletes*. Weight transfer with such an injury makes your injury stand out, especially if you have move around a lot, do sudden movements and roll.
