Firefighters continue efforts to extinguish the “Flying Bucket Fire,” which officials believe was started by people target shooting in the area on Monday.

Spot on drop, you can see the stream from the edge of the fireline. That's some amazing flying.

The fire appears to have been started on the flying bucket ranch which is where Dillion precision test fires the products they supply to the us govt. 🤔

Why not? It’s super dry out there and a few sparks can be more than enough when it’s windy. Plus we also don’t know what type of firearm was being tested, it could have been using some type of incendiary round.

@@FlightData101 I've shot 100 tracer rounds into very very dry bails of hay intentionally trying to start a fire and couldn't get it to light!, So that assumption that it was started by gun practice from a gun range is complete BS!

@@RollingWiththeflow stop acting like this was some kind of anti-gun axe grinding. It wasn’t. First of all, bales of hay are dense and don’t burn easily even when they’re dry. I’ve pulled hundreds of intact bales out of the remnants of a barn where nothing much else was left. Thirty years around fire has proved to me that they start for a whole myriad of reasons most folks would find absurd. For all we know the target is what caught fire. People use all kinds of goofy stuff as targets including old jerry cans.

At the time of writing this comment (5/18/24), this aircraft, other firefighting aircraft, and some Helicopters are active north of Rio Verde on FlightRadar24. Another fire? Regardless, such an iconic aircraft and I’m so happy some others are also still in use today.

747 Supertanker is no longer in service and is being (or has been) converted to a freighter. Not enough fire-fighting work to make it viable.

They are chopping up 747,s at raf st,athens south wales which are needed for fire fighting and can be converted to fire fighting purposes, ejecton seats can be fitted for out of hours aircraft to fight global warming fires so why chop them up ? .

It was tried but the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze. They couldn’t get the retardant system to meet the USFS coverage level requirements.
