Around here in Wisconsin (US), if the farmer has to go more than a couple miles, they usually setup a stationary slurry nurse tank which they run the umbilical hose from to the tractor which is injecting (we can't spread on surface here) and both large (10,000 gal / 38,000 L) tractor pull tanks & semi hauled tanks haul between the farm and the nurse tank.
@FARMERPHIL36904 жыл бұрын
That must be some setup to see. Our ground goes into pure muck if slurry is injected

It's a nurse tanker that you fill it with the boom off the slurry tank, I was spreading slurry yesterday and the field I was in there are parts you can only spread one way and the wind was blowing the exact wrong way of course always fun having to start the pressure washer after every load

great stuff Phil..love the videos..a question for you..I'm a dairy farmer down the south of the country, in the future due to these new laws about LESS systems. and bad weather in the spring ,we will probably hire in an umbilical outfit...issue i have is we have all bale silage..I've heard umbilical systems don't like bale silage slurry as its too thick..could you clarify this for me?..thanks
@FARMERPHIL36904 жыл бұрын
in general bale tanks are seen as being thick but you shouldnt be too bad as your a dairy farm and i assume have dairy washings going into the tank? the real issue is with the baled silage is the cows pull it into the tank which can block the pump and the maserator if dribbling (tho depending on make depends on how bad it is) in a tank thats full of silage its a nightmare but from my experience dairy farms that feed soley bales dont cause us any more hardship than any other dairy farm
@davidm039554 жыл бұрын
@@FARMERPHIL3690 we have dairy washings going in and in general have never had an issue with spreading with our own tanker, our silage chop length has always been long as we don't run knives in our baler. we should manage fine with the umbilical so...thank you for your reply..much appreciated
@FARMERPHIL36904 жыл бұрын
@@davidm03955 the tanker is different tho as it takes a good lump of stuff to block a splash plate whereas silage will buildup in the pump over time and block the veins but how long it takes to block depends on how much silage is in the tank
