Good setup bought a similar heater from eBay will be doing this install this spring. Did you end up using 3/8 BBQ line or 1/2? I currently have a 3/8 quick connect already outside, either I buy another 3/8 BBQ line and a 3/8 female to 1/2 male to connect to the hot water tank or try to purchase a 1/2 gas line with a 3/8 flare on one end and 1/2 male on the other end. Cheers

Glad it works for you... but it is an eyesore for me... I don't want such an ugly looking system throughout my yard in my limited space... I just want a pipe to feed into a heater that plugs into a standard outlet and feeds back into the pool. Thats it... I think they don't exist or they are over a grand... Ill swim in the cold water for now, I guess. Thanks for the video.. hope it helps others!

Hi I have a 16 x 8x 48 pool. Would this heater be okay? Also can you do a video literally step by step if possible. Thank u

hey cool video. lets say if the tank is made to heat 5gpm, then you need a specific pump to pump at a 5gpm rate? i can see from comments that if your pump rate is to low lets say 2gpm then it will shut off. what happens when you use a pump of 9gpm or something? will you get not as warm water and thats the only problem? thanks in advance im deciding what to do for my build. I'm in MN and im looking for a seasonal set up so maybe a specifit outdoor tankless heater if it matters.

DJ, I am having a similar issue to Thor. I am using a submersible superior pump (1/4 hp), but I am not getting adequate pressure to keep my tankless heater going (two minutes max, and it shuts itself off). Going to have to invest in a stronger pump (non submersible).
@Dj1duke4 жыл бұрын
Mine is a 1/2 hp pump generic from ebay. 1inch outlet. Check the strainer from your tankless water heater water input. I found out that small leaves and particles that were pumping out through the inlet where getting caught by the strainer preventing adequate water pressure.
@carloscorniel62244 жыл бұрын
Dj Duke Thank you. I will give that a try.
@tomjensen54823 жыл бұрын
does it have to do with pressure or GPM. I mean if the heater only uses 3-5gpm and you get a 7gpm 1/2hp pump it isn't going to heat correctly right? so you need to get the max GPM pump that matches the max heated GPM. maybe ? im going to do this

@@tomjensen5482 Hello man. Year 2 and going strong. The pump is working great and have had no issues. It's not a lot of pressure on the output but heats the pool nicely after 7 or 8 hours of use. I suppose if I had a larger gpm pump it would double the heat rate and heat at faster pace. It works good for my needs and temperature of the output is close 90 degrees.. It's hot.... Cheap man's heater but the tankless water heater survived my elements and still doing the work

Did you fix your problem? I have had the same issue. Once I turn the water on (pumping water into it) the heater runs for few min and shut off. I'm assuming it's not getting enough input pressure.? I have this exact heater, except I'm running it using propane. I could really use the help, it's hard to find info on the specs for what is really needed to get it running properly. How many GPH does it need ? Please help! Lol

Hi I really hope you can reply to this. I have done a similar thing but tried a submersible pump and its not enough pressure as its about 6m to and 6m from pool. I was going to get a proper pool pump but was struggling to find the reducer for 50mm. Dont suppose you could give me link or even more info to the adapters you have used after the pool that goes to input of heater. I'm about £350 in and starting to give up lol

I want to do this, but am concerned about the chlorine ruining the copper piping inside the heater. Have you had any issues so far?
@Michael-nd1sc Жыл бұрын
Actually you'll have a bigger issue of the calcium building up quickly inside the tankless heater. They are not designed to constantly heat water like that and suffer from deposit buildup quickly.
@gutrali11 ай бұрын
@@Michael-nd1scyeah it's totally designed for fresh water lol. Depending on water chemistry, chlorine or bromine can also cause copper to liberate into the water at high temperature. This causes terrible green staining. I try to run my spa at the lowest oxidation possible to help avoid this. Need to keep up on water quality otherwise and not let pH get out of control since that will accelerate reactions. To clean the inside of the heater you can pump vinegar through it every season followed by a flush.

What kind of pump are you using for the water heater? We have the same type of set up with an ecotemp heater but am struggling with the pump. Wore one out so I went with a impeller type pump but its really noisy and it surges so sometimes the water pressure drops and the heater cuts off the propane.

This is the one I purchased. It works OK . Wont pull water from a higher water source. Water source need to be level or below the pump. www.ebay.com/itm/New-1-2HP-110V-Electric-Industrial-Centrifugal-Clear-Clean-Water-Pump-Pool-US/401864413104?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Did you have problems getting the right fittings for the water side? In having the damnest time finding the right ones
@Dj1duke4 жыл бұрын
No. I used 1/2inch couplers from home depot.
@Bsquaredplus23 жыл бұрын
This specific heater uses ¹/² fittings. I'm connecting one now with ¹/² to ³/⁴ schedule 40 couplers so I can use garden hoses for easy disconnect. Premium garden hoses can handle up to 190° vs pvc's max of 140°.

Hi DJ, what temp does your surroundings get at night? Do you need to run your heater continuously?
