When the first fuel injection car with the EFI baffle built in the tank were designed there was never a problem with fuel starvation?
@MuscleCarSolutions10 ай бұрын
The two tanks in this video are for 1967 vehicles. There was no EFI tank. Starving the pump is a major concern on an EFI set up or really any. No fuel equals bad things!

I am contemplating going with an intank electric pump in a 69 mustang tank that is going into a pickup truck. The engine will have a carburetor right now but I want everything to be there for an efi swap later down the road. I want to run an aeromotive 13301 Bypass regulator. Tanks carries their GPA style fuel pumps that would work for the mustang tank however the inlet and outlets are only 1/4 NPT. Aeromotive recommends a return size based on the size of fuel pump youre running and the distance the line travels. Well for my application my return would have to be a -8. Do you think a -8 going into a 1/4 NPT fitting would create a backpressure issue since the carburetor only really needs 7 psi the rest would be going back to tank.

I absolutely hate the Tanks hat and hanger. Aeromotive makes them but you’ll need to call them to see if they’ll sell it separately.

What is the part number on that 6 bolt Aeromotive pump setup that drops in the Tanks Inc tank? Thanks in advance!

I don’t believe Aeromotive sold that as a part numbered item. At least they didn’t at the time. Call their tech line and ask for Brett. Maybe they have it available.

How can the pump starve if there’s a bilt in baffle in tanks ink cause mine doesn’t starve and I have the stealth 450 in my tanks ink
@MuscleCarSolutions3 жыл бұрын
It does. Pump and basket is at the front of the tank. Fuel level drops below half a tank and hard acceleration pushes the fuel out of the basket and to the back of the tank. It’s really the worst place to put the pump. The Aeromotive basket at least holds enough fuel to let it recover. Either that or run a full tank all the time. Quick internet search will show you how many of us complained about it. The new genII tank cures it or go this route on a stock tank.

@@patmcadam3744 it’s not a Tanks Inc tank. Likely a Spectra. Not sure but it doesn’t use the uncontrollable basket in the first gen tank they made that has the Aeromotive carrier in a tanks INC tank.

I just got a tanks inc tank from butler performance, they advertised it as being a baffled tank for cornering etc. Is this not the case?(edit here) if not I suppose I could cut it open and TIG in some baffling to make absolutely sure this won't happen. Id hate to have to do all that but I want my 69 gto to handle tail of the dragon without starving my pump. I didnt think I'd have this issue because its advertised on butler's website as: EFI style internal baffling. Extra Large 4.3 liter internal fuel tray to prevent fuel pump starvation. Perfect for your Pro-Touring, Autocross or Road Racing Ride I dunno man, I dunno.

I haven’t seen if they redesigned the inside. I know the tanks haven’t been. Maybe butler did. I’d have to see the inside to see if they actually made any upgrades.

I'm confused because I thought the baffle I'm the tanks inc tank is to stop fuel slosh. I have sniper efi with stock tank. Currently upgrading to a tanks inc tank with a 340lph pump
@MuscleCarSolutions3 жыл бұрын
It’s supposed to contain the fuel around the pump but it doesn’t. The tanks INC tanks for the Chevelle is a poor design. The sump is at the front of the tank. So when under half a tank and under hard acceleration, all the fuel leaves the basket.

Why don’t folks run a jet pump, powered by the return line fuel flow, and pulling fuel from the back of the tank on a flop line, like aerobatic aircraft?

Well, I pulled the trigger on this kit and I'll tell ya, their stuff is top notch! I just installed the system in my tank. Now I need to buy the fuel line. Curious as to what line you ran and what you used to cut it with? So many opinions and videos on that.
