@TankTheTech: Beer is a normal thing in german theaters, after all the legal age to drink beer in germany is 16 but most kids get in contact with aged of 14 to 15. I will NEVER forgett in a moment in my NCO training (which takes 3 jears overall in germany) when we had an american exchange sergeant in our group. After the end of the course we had a big "Festbiwak" (basically a camp where are your BBQing drinking to celebrate that we sucsefully made it to the rank of "Feldwebel". Beer was free off course. Another really fun band from Germany would be Knorkator. They hail from Berlin and are really creative and kind of artsy, but not in a bad way. If you'd like to check them out I'd recommend the songs "Wir werden", "Alter Mann", "Zähne putzen, pullern, ab ins Bett", "Du nich", or "Kinderlied".

For "Du nich", you definitely want to see the video with Till Lindemann from Rammstein. It doesn't show any instruments or anything, but it's impressive in its own way. Especially Till's... 'emotiveness'.

Concerning your comparison with Weird Al: When JBO started, they were doing the same thing as Weird Al in the US, taking known songs and twisting the lyrics in a hilarious way in German. They turned Metallica's "enter sandman into "sleep child sleep" (a famous German childrens song); The Bangle's "walk line an egyptian" into "walk with an erection" and Megadeth's "symphony of destruction" into the "symphony of constipation". Ah, good times. I guess they liked Weird Al's work a lot - they even translated his "You don't love me anymore" directly into German, without altering the lyrics. Them writing their own music came up then in the 2000's. And: "Blue" was huge here in Germany, too. Still need to pay attention that thinking about it doesn't start the playback in my brain again...

Fun Fact, James (Zensiert)Blast Orchestra is actuall a reference to James Last Orchestra, James Last is a famous music producer whose output was so high because he re-arranged all kinds of songs with his Schlager Orchestra - he was a very successful and productive and capable musician - just like James zensiert-chester... well he got more money probably ^^' Also Planet Pink might be a reference to the album Planet Punk by the german band "Die Ärzte" When I grew up 5 German bands were essentially everywhere: Die Ärzte, Die Toten Hosen, Rammstein received the most attention because they were played on MTV and Viva - Die Böhsen Onkelz are probably the biggest german Band that had almost no exposure on Music TV while also very polarising, J.B.O, Blind Guardian, Kreator, Sodom and other german metal bands had little exposure to mtv, but word of mouth is very strong in dense populated areas like europe. 10:21 A "Hitchhiker Through the Galaxy" reference, I'm crying

Just a little thing I noticed: the intro where everyone gets a beer except Vito who only gets tea could be a little reference to an older song of theirs called "Wer Ist der Fahrer" (originally Carbonara by Spliff) in which the guys drive to a party but no one wants to stay sober and be the designated driver, so Vito gets stuck with that role and reluctantly drinks only coke and tea. It could be just a little coincidence tho, but if not it's a great subtle reference!

As for beer, remember, we are talking germany, even worse, JBO are from Bavaria, the "Reinheitsgebot" = purity law is from Bavaria (and the mid 16th century) and in the bavarian (and frankonian) culture (and german culture overall), beer has quite a high position. In Bavarian law, it is, as far as I remember counted as staple food / a neccessity and they even had a massive riots because the price for beer got increased back in 1844, riots in the streets, call for the military and the military was like: yo, fuck off, we're supporting the populace. we need our beer. Then again, all of europe is basiccally countries with local cultures centered around alcohol. you go from the "southern" wine countries (spain, italy, france) to the more northern beer countries (belgium,Germany,Czech etc) and with distilled spirits it is the same thing. grappa to korn to vodka etc ^^ ------------------------------------------------- At minute 9:35 you get a bit of political commentary wher JBO makes fun of the AfD (think of them as german equivalent of the Tea Party Movement, just their own party of rightarded racist nutjobs) ----------------------------------------------------------- Probably the most dense german song is a hip hop song called "MFG" by Fantastischen Vier, the whole song is just a bombardment of abbreviations that mention tons of things.

I would love a Co-commentator from Germany in these videos to maybe explain some of the european references or German text in the video which is not covered by the lyrics.

Please also check "Metal was my first Love". J.B.O are like the grand-parents for future heroes of Fun- or not so trueish-Metal like Nanowar and ESKIMO CALLBOY. They are real Heroes, and had their peak during the 2000s, with multiple Wacken Appearances. And all their gear is pink . :)

The remote looks like an old Metz Remote. Metz was a company in Zirndorf near Nürnberg only 30 minutes away from Erlangen. Edit: I think im wrong. I looked up my old metz and the keys weren't white
