Modern Slipknot songs need more than 1 listen. I'm a huge fan, but i find i need to hear songs at least 5 times, just to be able to pick up on all the individual sounds and things that are going on, and then appreciate how they manage to combine all that noise into 1 coherent song. First thing that jumped out to me on this one was the drumming. Jay just going to another level.

I'm happy to hear you liked WANYK. It's one of my favorite records from them. I'm also happy to hear you mention the people who constantly compare to ST and Iowa. I don't actually want another Iowa. We've got that. I want to see this band continually evolve. If they released an acoustic album I'd be down if it's what they're inspired to do and it's good. I hope this record brings the heavy, of course, but I hope it's diverse like the last record. Great video as always, sir!

Man, I remember seeing Slipknot at Ozzfest in '99, and they were just so different and so fresh. Sid hugged me after the show and drooled on my shoulder with his gas mask on, heh. That was such a good time to be into new music, right when Slipknot, Disturbed, and System of a Down were changing the landscape for heavy music that also had mainstream appeal. I'm like a hair's distance away from buying a ticket to see Electric Callboy in Brooklyn just to experience that once in a lifetime show, especially because you're scheduled to be there, right Tank? I just hope it's not sold out. That would be really frustrating. Anyway, all the best dude :)
@TankTheTech2 жыл бұрын
It's sold out on paper, but I'm sure there are ways to find tickets. And I agree, man, discovering Slipknot in the late 90's was so awesome, along with a lot of other band at the time, too.

Thank you for saying it Tank, been a fan of the band since I first heard them back in 1999 and I hate hearing people just hanging onto Iowa and self titled. They are amazing albums but Corey has evolved his soul d along with two surgeries that affected his vocals. Appreciate the classics but also listen to the new stuff for what it is and that's an evolution of the sound of Slipknot.

At the high risk of getting shanked over it, I'm just going to say that this song feels like a modern "Duality" and i f***ing love it. It's just, backwards. The chorus is that clean faded-out singing, and then the in-between parts are just heavy as all hell. If the rest of the album hits just as hard, it's going on my main playlist.
@TheMCmace2 жыл бұрын
i can see definitly your point

I must disagree, because I find Duality to be catching at 1st hearing... while this song is all-in technical wise and it takes some time to catch all of that. This is not a radio song, sounding wise, like Duality is.

My introduction to Slipknot was with Vol.3 so this song is especially sounds amaizing to me. Don't get me wrong I loved every single album before or after that, but that Vol.3 sound is special to me. Also, a nice little Jim Root story (not mine, but it kinda made me happy). So Sean Long from While She Sleeps got a signature Charvel this year and then Jim has been seen during live shows using the Sean signature (you could tell because it had neon yellow pickups and logo). Sean of course was over the moon because of this. And I know that probably this was strictly based on sound, but how cool it must be that someone like Jim plays your signature.

Great reaction! I appreciate what you said about the comparison to their older music. ST and Iowa were game changers, but musical evolution is a good thing. And these guys have been going hard for over two decades. I don’t think they have a “bad” album. Some are different, but if all someone wants is ST and Iowa then they should listen to those. If the stories of where these guys were at mentally and how they recorded those albums are even partially true, then expecting 9 men to put themselves through that for 20+ years is insane. Let them do their thing. It’s as simple as not listening if it’s not what you like. As for you Tank, stay awesome!! 🖤🤘
