@@scottwright236 TH1 is the robot that the protagonists (all the vocalists) take with them, the only machine they kinda 'trust'. Because [Spoiler of the story ahead] when they leave the dying planet, they head to a planet so distant, they wouldn't live long enough to arrive. So they prepare some kind of cryongenic sleeping pods, but they need someone to keep watch in case of any failures etc. And of course, as people who grew up being unable to do anything without machines, they needed a robot at least. And at the end of the album [Even more spoilers ahead] It becomes clear, that TH1 will not just stay a faithful servant robot, but in the time he is all alone he keeps developing as an AI and in the end, will become a new kind of 'Frame', without which the survivors won't be able to survive any longer and be a a key role for the further story, portrayed in previous albums.

Ed Warby used to be the drummer for the great Death Metal band Gorefest. Also, check out Nils' band Pagan's Mind, they're awesome. Tobias Sammet's Avantasia is quite similar to Ayreon in that it is also basically an all-star project with loads of great and prominent singers. I recommend you check out "The Raven Child" from the album "Moonglow". Hansi Kürsch is on that, as well (along with Jorn Lande), and his vocals on that track are the best I've ever heard him do.

Love to see AYREactions! This particular song is a gem, but pretty much every song from Arjen is great! The next suggested step would be checking out Mike Mill's Toehider: if you're intrigued by Mike's performance here, you should definitely listen to Meet the Sloth, Go Full Bore, This Conversation is Over or Concerning Lix & Fairs. Otherwise, if you prefer to stick with Ayreon, I suggest you a double-feature reaction: Ayreon's The Theory of Everything (live version from Ayreon Universe show), followed by Mike's live cover (The Theory of Everything - Open Mike Night). Go ahead and show this to your dad when he is in town most of us won't have a problem watching it again. You picked a fairly good time to become acquainted with Ayreon as there is a new album Transitus in the works right now it should be released mid November. I'm especially looking forward to a couple of "new" singers that haevn't worked with Arjen before Dianne van Giersbergen (Ex Libris/Xandria) And Dee Snider (Twisted Sister). The name Ayreon is kind of a play on words of Arjen's name, remember the Dutch J ha a Y sound. He has had over 75 different singer on his now 8 (double) albums (9th coming this september). Most songs are scifi inspired. He actually created his own Ayreon Universe, which over the different albums get more fully explored. He started in the 90s. Floor and HER SISTER have been a part almost since the beginning. Train of Thought was also my first real exposure to Dream Theater. I had a couple songs earlier than that played for me, Octavarium, Memories etc, that a guitar playing friend of mine in high school played for me. He and his dad got tickets to Dream Theater playing in the round in Phoenix, AZ for Train of Thought, and they brought me with them. Awesome, awesome show. I bought a tour shirt (long sleeve, hardly wear it because Arizona) and the album itself. It's probably still my favorite album from them. I was basically not sure which song was which (especially when DT songs are usually, like, 20 min each) but it's probably one of the only instances where I saw the headliner, basically blind. I remember some excited fan came up to my friend and I (we were probably the youngest in the crowd) exclaiming that we had just witnessed history being made. I only ever caught them again for Constant Motion live, excellent show as well except the date I was on.... her ears started to bug out during a keytar solo and she almost walked out. It was bothering my ears as well, just kept hitting notes and sustaining them, but it wasn't hurting mine like hers. THANKFULLY the solo stopped otherwise we might have left. I'll admit, I haven't paid much attention to them since Mike Portnoy left/was removed from the band though. I had to bring that up since we both entered the Dream Theater at around the same time. Also as I'm writing this, looking down at my phone to comment while the video is streaming through Xbox, I also stopped and said "hey! I know that voice!" About the same time you exclaimed it yourself: Hansi! Hell yes!! You'll have to react to Demons & Wizards some day, get more Hansi in your life

I remember that story when he called Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth on the phone: "I'm Arjen Lucassen. I have a band called Ayreon. And I wanted to ask you if you'ld like to sing in this project?" And the answer was: "Arjen Lucassen? Sure! Man, I have a lot of CD's from you!" So much about that.

Check out "Day Two: Isolation" and "We Are/Forever" by Ayreon also, similar long epic with multiple vocalists! Or "Intergalactic Space Crusaders" or "Earth that Was" by Star One (also Arjen) for more straight forward headbangable metal

If you haven't heard Simone yet, you might wanna check out Sancta Terra by Epica. They have a live orchestra and a special guest singer too. I'm betting it'd be right up your alley. Regardless, super insightful and informative video. Definitely another level of reaction video. Also, your comments got me curious, and I counted: Michael Mills pasted together 86 different recordings for that if I counted correctly.

Another great underrated band I'm recommending for you, its prog, but awesome - "RIVERSIDE - Wasteland" Live It has some hard elements with some great Pink Floyd vibes. Might be a bit different for your channel but defiantly worth a listen if you like Ayreon. Disk 1 of Ayreon - Universal Migrator is all softer prog with some Pink Floyd vibes and has that lay back with headphones and enjoy the ride story. Disk 2 is all heavy with some great guests, like Bruce Dickinson.

You really should react to Ayreon - Valley of the Queens (Live version). It is way too short and incredibly beautiful with some of the best vocals you will ever hear (as well as other fantastic musicianship.) You will definitely recognise one of the three vocalists, and after hearing it will be sure to want to check out more from the other two.

Tank, you might have some fun with this Ayreon song from their Universe concert. Its called Intergalactic space Crusaders. Floor's sister Irene is singing backup vocals on this. Mr. Lucassen is a huge fan of science fiction, and I believe this song is based around an old BBC series called Blake's 7.

I discovered Aryeon back in the spring this year while I was painting my bedroom! I had Amazon music playing Nightwish, Floor and Marko. It also played things it thought I might like, and Aryeon was one of them, and I loved it! I had the windows open and the speaker up loud, it was effing amazing! I love the live concerts, they are brilliant. My mum was a big Ian Gillan fan. She loved all that kind of music, she said she was born to early 🤣 as by the 70's she was in her 40's. I came along in 1971 and grew up with older brothers, so was raised on Gillan, Yes, Rush, Black Sabbath, Motorhead to name but a few. I didn't really get into music until the hair bear metal bands came to be. I have to hold my hand up and say I was into Dexies midnight runners, Duran Duran, Adam and the Ants, back in the day 😆 I love most types of music but rock/metal are my favourite. I like real singing, not auto tuned to death, can't sing live music.

It's great to share the taste in music with your kids. My 16y old daughter wanted to show me some "new" music. It turned out to be Whitesnake and the Alan Parson Project and she got mad at me when I told her I've listened to them since late 80. We use to levitate together to everything from Sweet Comfort Band to Phenomena. My other daughter is sadly lost to club music. My son's mostly into to various experimental music often with strong influences from church music. Two of the kids study music. I've told them if I end up in a nursing home when I'm old they must provide me with good music and a cat. /Take good care of your dad.

I discovered your channel thanks to Arjen who linked this video on Facebook. And I've been listenning to it for the past 3 hours .... damn ... ^^ There are so many good songs form Ayreon that I can't count them. It's so hard to make some recomandations! "Amazing Flight" is a sure pick. Or if you want some more grunt (there are not much in Ayreon's music) you can also try "Cosmic fusion". You may be surprised I believe ! BTW I've looked at all your Nigthwish videos and ... If I can suggest another group that could link Nightwish (for the operatic music style) and Ayreon, with also some headbanging stuff, yous should try Ancient Bard. It's not a very well known group, and they deserve a lot of love, since all they do is really great too! Try "Impious Dystopia". And I leave it to you to find the link with Ayreon!

That's Ayreon/Arjen for ya - he mumbles something about making an album, and 20-30 ridiculously talented musicians from around the world line up to pitch in. Nearly all his stuff, that I've heard so far at least, has been similar to this; Epic storytelling and kickass prog.

There are three fonts of musical deliciousness that I partake of on a near daily basis. You have now hit two of them, Jinjer & Arjen. I feel compelled to mention the 3rd, the band I listen to Every Single Day. Be’lakor. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/pai7n3eKp6h6q68 I’m super excited cuz they say the next album should be out Dec or Jan.💚 That isn’t even one of my top five songs, it’s just the best live video & I know ya wanna see that gear if you can. Otherwise I recommend An Ember’s Arc, off the latest album, the official lyric video. The whole album is a story and they ended up making lyric videos for the whole thing. (Ps, that is so Rad that Arjen commented!💚💚)

Though very rare and immediately sold out, Arjen organizes live gigs now and then (on which he sometimes doesn't even appear himself, he is not fond of stage exposure). Find behind this link some live songs with varying artists. The girl chorus is often staffed by Irene Jansen, Lisette van der Berg and Marcela Bovio. Then, sometimes you see Magali Luijten appear, it goes she can shatter hardened three layer glass when she starts to grit... Then sometimes Marco Hietala comes to sing, and when he has a Nightwish day off, Floor is never far away... Enjoy men like Michael Mills, Tommy Karevik, Hansi Kürsch hit stage again. Another female vocalist is Anneke van Giersbergen. Enjoy the mighty voice of Damian Wilson, another early singer who came to Arjen. And some other Dutch artists that drop by... They all have great fun. kzbin.info/www/bejne/noHGdX-NqLeLZpY

Also I don't know if you ever have but definitely check out Pagan's Mind. They are super good, everyone in the band. Their live DVD Full Circle, most of it you can find here on KZbin. You should react to one of them, Full Circle the song itself is like a near 16 minute instrumental. It's insane. As I keep watching I keep seeing you run into vocalists you haven't heard of haha, Tobias is awesome, Edguy and Avantasia are both very awesome bands, one is like pure power metal for the most part and the other is like a rock opera power metal type band. Tears of the Mandrake is probably my favorite album by Edguy while Avantasia's first 2 and their most recent one are my favorites from that band.
