Tank, the line that hits me the hardest is: "Come on in, the fire's warm Burn the rope, and then some more." It's literally a line about not going through with suicide, because you never know who actually cares about you. I'm not trying to bring anyone down, but understand -- I suffer from chronic depression, suicidal tendencies at times, and chronic insomnia. It's a pain in the ass, when you think nobody cares, yet at least one person in the world does -- you just dont remember who they are, or dont know who they are. "How's the Heart?" is a reminder that we should always make an individual effort to check on our fellow human beings. Because one friend can save a life.

I'm more than a little late, frankly, but from one warrior to another (and don't ever let anyone tell you you're not) can I just say.......Greetings, fellow warrior. How's the heart?
@isaiahwelch8066 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelstamper5604 : Not too bad, actually. Things have been slightly chaotic, as life always is. But I haven't had nearly the number of dark days this year that I have had in past years. It is disconcerting though, that people so easily forget those that tragically take their own lives, like Jason David Frank did a year ago. If you ever watched Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers in the 1990s, he first played the original Green Ranger, and then later the White Ranger. He tragically took his own life last year when his soon-to-be ex-wife went to the same hotel he was at (he was actually getting ready to do an appearance at a comic shop two days after his death), and she tried to manipulate him into giving in to her divorce demands. When that failed, she guilt-tripped him over the accidental death of her own daughter, as JDF was who found her deceased in her home. I say all this because this time of year is not easy for depressive people or even military vets, yet people see the face we put on for the world and think we're okay. Thank you for asking, though. Many who would read what I have posted wouldn't. I hope you are doing well, and that things are manageable for you in your life.
@michaelstamper5604 Жыл бұрын
@@isaiahwelch8066 I'm doing fine thanks. For now anyway. I was diagnosed as a life-long case more than 30 years ago now, so I know it will come and go, and come back again some other time. It always does. One important thing I've learned, though, is that when those little invisible orcs start whispering all that c**p into my mind, they're lying. I've never found stronger or more solid people than the ones like you and me. Strolling casually through hell is something we've done plenty of times, so anything else is a piece of p**s (as we say in the UK) by comparison. Keep marching, warrior. The world needs you!

When I saw them live in May of this year (2022) we had our 5 year old daughter with us. It was her first concert and she fell asleep on the floor. This is how they played it live (acoustic) and Floor told everyone to take a light and shine it on someone or something important to you. For the entirety of the song while she was singing, my eyes were streaming down tears of love and devotion for my girl. It was one of the most intense emotional experiences of my life and I will never forget crying in front of hundreds of people while I shone a cellphone light on my sleeping daughter.

One of the things that really strikes me about this performance, is how far back Floor is from her mic when she goes full belt. And even as far back she is, she's almost peaking out that poor thing. XD That woman has ridiculous power.
@realulli3 жыл бұрын
If you watch closely, you see she controls her distance from the mic very carefully. During the normal singing, the distance varies only a few mm, until she gets to the belting part, where she leans back before she opens up. She definitely knows exactly what she's doing.

One finnish techno-pop artist made all his songs with acoustic guitar at first. That way he could see, if the song is going to work. Then he moved to compose his songs with computers and synthetizator. This reminded me of that. You know that song is good, when you can make it work with one acoustic guitar and singing alone.

Congrats on the newest member of the family! If you want to hear of Troy in this setting, there is one more Planet rock acoustic Nightwish video for the song "Nemo" (recorded the same day and session as this video). It's particularly interesting because it is a Tarja period song, but Floor and Troy (both not in the band at that period) nail the song, and it is easily the best version of it.

Its probably my 4th or 5th time letting YT play this back for me,as i genuinly enjoyed this reaction. Its very relatable,i have heard Tarja sing theyr songs ALOT during my own teenage years,i have heard plenty of Anette (at least on record/studio versions) I have in general heard alot of female and male vocalists (that i love) perform over the years. But once Floor opens up,she breaks me down in an instant! Thats why im calling her a goddess,and its not in a triple x rated way,its far more about her insane versatile vocal abilities and range. And simply the fact that she seems to know when to make your day better,without you knowing it. The same in regards to tearing up,you might not know you needed a good cry that day,but she on pre recorded performances and in music videos seems to know exactly when! And its just not me experiencing this,but thousands and thousands of people discovering her and Nightwish for the first time. And i went from being a "Nightwish wont be the same without Tarja" guy into becoming "Floor is the absolute best singer in the world!". She was the perfect fit for them,and i heard some talks about Tuomas actually wanting her into the band at a very early After Forever stage (she joined them still a teenager),but rumourly all the guys in Nightwish were good friends with the guys in After Forever,and they didnt want to risk destroying that friendship. So Nightwish might have waited all this time,just to actually get her in theyr band. Mark Jansen as we know went on to create Epica,so After Forever slowly started "falling apart" with 1 of the founding members leaving. So when Floor left too just a few years after Mark left,to create her own band ReVamp (wich sadly didnt last that long) All of a sudden,Floor Jansen was available....imagine the hope Nightwish had when they decided to give her a call. And here is the best punchline: Troy never liked Tarja,he was being as respectful as possible but thoose 2 never vibed together. When Troy saw Floor come in (first temporary,then fulltime) he had been part time in the band for several years on and off,but only for studio production/recordings and helping them out on tour if needed. But he had been on the fence about joining the band fulltime with the 2 prior vocalists. When Floor was confirmed in,Troy was like: "Okay guys,you got me in fulltime!" And this is the product,thoose 2 alone creating magic together....with just a guitar and eachother to rely on. Of course im a longtime Nightwish Army guy,and the amount of guys i have read opening up. Dads that never cried when theyr kids were born,when they married the love of theyr life,when they lost the ones they cared the most for. Roughnecks with tattoos and with the intimidating presence,that started wishing that they showed more emotions because people around them started questioning them for being so "cold" always. They eventually due to the explosive popularity on youtube (Nightwish Reactions) decided to give Nightwish a chance (they thought symphonic metal wouldnt be theyr thing,they needed it straight forward,early Metallica type of fast and heavy) They described it as follows: "Floor just needed a maximum of a couple of minutes in the ring with me,before i tapped out. I was bawling my eyes out......and i didnt even feel embarrased over it!" Marines,Navy Seals that had watched theyr brothers in arms die in theyr arms etc. Not a tear,but Floor Jansen opened them up like noone else could. If that doesnt qualify her as a Goddess,i dont even know! 😆 She certainly is gifted out of her mind! 🥰So i no longer consider it disrespectful to say Floor is soo much more special and better then the other vocalists,its just a stated fact at this point. If you start out listening to only Tarja,then move over to Anettes era;and then Floor. The absolute majority will say that Floor and Troy was the best thing to have ever happened to Nightwish! The band just escalated into another dimension with theese 2 along for the ride. How many bands can brag about the same thing? That theyr supporters/fans embrace and love 2 of theyr "newer" members as better then the original/former members? There is not alot out there.

Congratulations again Tank, TankerBelle, and Claire. It's been just over 20 years since we had a newborn in the house (oldest is 20, youngest is almost 16) but those are special times and the smile on your face says it all. I know you'll have already gotten a lot of advice, but I'm going to give you two little pointers we found really helpful. First, while she is small and "portable", get out, just the three of you, as much as possible. I know it'll be harder during COVID times because you can't go to the stores and/or restaurants, but you can go to parks or just go out for walks in your area. For now, it's relatively easy: you just need the three of you, a stroller and/or baby carrier, and a diaper bag. Once she gets to be mobile it gets a lot harder. Second, once she's mobile and wants to get into everything, set aside the lower drawer in your kitchen for her. First, it currently has some things in it you don't want her playing with (that's where we had our cheese grater!) and second if she knows that that stuff is hers she's less likely to go exploring in the rest of the kitchen. We put in a lot of stacking cups (we actually used small yogurt containers), a bunch of dollar store sponges, and some big chunky plastic spoons. All these are great for coordination and are great fun and kept all three of ours busy and out of trouble! Over time, they even started adding some of their toys to the drawer which was even cooler.
