Ahhh no wonder my erhu snake skin has begun to look very dry and hard. The sound produced doesn't sound very nice and I've begun to think what is wrong with my erhu lol. Just stumbled upon this and applied extra virgin olive oil on my erhu snake skin. Hopefully it will produce a much more calming relaxed sound. Thank you for sharing :)

Thank you for record very useful tip of maintain erhu video in this in youtube, may I consult your expertise about the duration to moisturise the erhu snakeskin according to Singapore weather?
@EasonMusic3 жыл бұрын
Yes, sure. It depends on individual and where they keep their erhus. Generally Singapore is very humid so it does not get dry easily. We usually do not need to moisturize them for years.

Very helpful! I've read online that you can use vaseline on the snake skin instead of olive oil, but I haven't seen anyone compare these two. Is olive oil better than vaseline for the python skin? Does it affect tone if you use something else to moisturize the snake skin?

Thank you, so useful. Can i use for it oil for guitar fingerboard? Like Dunlop lemon oil, or Planet Waves Hydrate...
@ameliacrisp84826 жыл бұрын
Hey, I have no experience with caring for snakeskin, but I do know that Lemon oil etc is for a guitar fingerboard, effectively a type of wood (rosewood etc.), not an animal skin. Unfortunately I do not recommend putting any wood polish near a snake skin.

how often should this process be done?

Hi there! It really depends on which region you are from. If you're in a drier climate, you'll have to do it more than someone from a humid climate. However, you should never over do this, as it will affect the quality of the snakeskin. Only do this when the skin seems dry.

I’m surprised to see you handling the bow hairs with your hands. I thought that would put skin oil on your bow hairs, and that would do the opposite thing that the rosin does.

Hi Michael! Thanks for pointing that out! Yes we will be more careful in future.

@@EasonMusic no no, I was not trying to criticize, I meant to ask the question, if that is ok to do ? I’m not even good enough to be called “a beginner” ! Thank you for these videos !

@@michaelanthony9068 You're welcome. You are right that there is oil on our fingers and we should avoid touching the bow hair with our fingers. But it is fine if you feel that your fingers are not overly oily at that point of time and you do not hold on to it for long periods.

Does synthetic snake skin can also gets dry?
@SyntheticGoddessYT4 жыл бұрын
That depends. If its leather, yes. But it won't get flaky like actual snakeskin because the leather is embossed. Embossing is basically a big stamping of a pattern onto something, like leather. Real snakeskin has scales and with time, any scales will lift at the edges. They're little individual pieces of the snakeskin that arent tethered to eachother in the same way embossing is. So, to answer your questoon, while leather may need to be moisturized to maintain the softness and prevent cracking, you don't have to worry about lifting like you would with natural scales. You can use the same method shown here to moisturize your leather.

I have a question how to use skincare on erhu? and what is it dangerous for snake skin?

I would reach out to an Erhu store in China. My Erhu came with a number to call regarding setup but I still call them lol. I’m from the U.S though, so it’s harder for me to gain information on it. It’s a dunhuang Erhu
