Maybe to fix the react cards in a lower player game you can house rule that you can hold them on your hand instead to be forced to discard them.

If they had just included the board to play on, this could have been a stand alone as well as an expansion... Or am I incorrect?

The expansion comes with some extra components to help when you're playing with 5 or 6. But it's not enough for a stand alone game. You'd still be missing a lot of components that come in the base game. There aren't enough cards to make a full deck to draw from (and there isn't enough variety). There aren't clank cubes for the original 4 players or the cubes for the dragon. There aren't enough tokens for the secrets, artifacts, and items.

Yes the Clank Adventuring Party expansion is compatible with Clank Catacombs. The Catacombs rulebook has instructions for using Adventuring Party.

Love the idea of character decks and 6 players! Would there be any issues combing this with Clank Legacy (either before or after finishing the campaign)?

If you combine it with Clank Legacy, it's recommended to do it after the campaign. During the campaign, you need to use the decks provided in Legacy -- the game gives you opportunities to upgrade and customize the starting cards.

After you finish the campaign, you can use these characters. For the legacy elements to work well, you need to use the player decks in Clank Legacy. The game gives you opportunities to customize your deck.
