I like how they finally added to the rulebook of the game ending when either the dungeon deck is gone and/or the bag is out of cubes. It was questionable about what to do when those situations arise in games I played that lasted that long, especially when they first print the game (base one in 2016, before X different expansions came out), that situation was never mentioned. At least the random map layout will keep people interested in the game for the long term and increase it's replayable a lot. I hope they can also add rules for how to include eariler expansions into catacombs to play with (won't mind seeing a combined game with catacombs and base set, for example), or remake all eariler expansions into verisons of catacombs with the randomized map tiles (randomized oceans, anyone?). I look forward to seeing what expansions that add to this verison in the future, since it can be a new base set with more randomized map tiles to come to create more crazy maps (lava traps, swamps, etc.).
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed Жыл бұрын
I think some of the early expansions will be relatively straight forward to add in (granted, I don't know if I ever played with those - but certainly anything that just added new cards should be easy to mix in).

So hyped for this! Eager to watch the video! Thank you! :) Even if maybe a prototype - the production quality of tokens etc. is no improvement to Clank! In! Space! - what a pity.... Edit: The dungeon idea is sure nice. But I am not sure if it will be worth picking up when you own everything of Clank! In! Space!, which already gives you a modular map. Does "the map you don't exactly know what the map will look like and you might be lucky or not" add enough difference so that you recommend having both? Adding a 5th and 6th player might be an argument. As well as the decent price point compared to other games we see today. Regardless - the video is once more top notch quality. Well done Rodney! You did an excellent job - as usual! Thank you!

In original Clank!, we always played you had to perform a card action when played. Was that wrong? For example, if a card says -2 clank!, But I have no clank on the board, I just missed out on that ability. This makes the game a bit more tactical in my decision as to what order to play my cards. Am I playing incorrectly, or have the rules changed for this edition?
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed Жыл бұрын
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. We have a video for the original Clank game if you want to see how card play works in that edition. This may help though, from the original Clank rule book: "You may take each action as many times as you like, as long as you have the resources to do so. You can wait and take your actions after you’ve played all of your cards, or you can take actions between cards if you wish."

This is how I've always played as well, and came to the comments to see if anyone already asked this question. I'm still not sure if I've always played it wrong in Clank! or if this is a new rule for this game.

When you have to draw 5 cards at the beginning of your turn, and say, you only have 3 cards remaining in your own deck, do you draw those 3 cards first, then shuffle the discard pile into a new deck and draw the remaining 2? Or do you ignore the 3 remaining cards and shuffle the discard pile right away, then draw the 5 cards at once?

@16:50 so you can just keep going back and forth between those two tiles, getting tons of stuff until everything runs out? That seems a little broken. Or am I missing something?

I think you might find in practice that this would use up a bunch of your turns while others made more progress towards better things.

Hi, we have been playing this over the weekend and encountered these questions, 1) how does the game define an “adjacent” room? Is it a room connected by a path or a room on the same tile (even if unconnected)? Mostly wondering about this in the context of cards that say you can “teleport to an adjacent room.” We also found a pdf online that says you can “teleport” to exit the dungeon and are confused by that premise… 2) how does the White Tourmaline card function? Do you need the incredible coincidence of it being in your playing hand when a ghost clank is drawn out of the dragon bag on your own turn to use its protection? Or can you use it if the dragon attacks during/before someone else’s turn if you have uncovered your hand? Or if you just possess it somewhere your deck (discard/draw/hand.)
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 6 ай бұрын
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for. I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
@fmar528
@fmar528 2 күн бұрын
Hi, this is incredibly late and im sure youve moved on or know the answer now. But for those wondering. An adjacent room is when it is connected by a path way. Interestingly enough, this includes portals! So you can teleport INTO a portal that your room is connected to and come out on the otherside of any portal on the board. Ignoring all tunnel requirements such as locked ones. Secondly, you use the "tourmaline" cards when they are in your hand. (Remember at the end of your turn you must refill to a full hand) thus you will always have a grip of 5 cards in hand during OTHER players turns. And if they cause a dragon attack such as from buying cards. You can show a Tourmaline card and discard it to avoid a single ghost cube damage then immediately draw a card (youd have 5 cards in hand after all this) Hope it helps anyone out there!

Chris, this is a very difficult question to answer, because I know three are people "in" the hobby who might have trouble with this. Everyone's tolerance for complexity is different. This isn't a game I'd introduce to someone brand new to the hobby, but that doesn't mean it couldn't work for some.
