Evan sent us more of his commutator projectiles. Since we tested similar ones last year, I wanted to do something different and propel some a low velocities (about .38 sp. speeds) and others at "rifle velocities". Lots of interesting surprises in this one.

The ping off the aluminum was sublime. It just felt right. The lead plate deformation was so satisfying. But the real gem was the cell phone. The fact that it was so dang close, only to hit with the core was amazing.

Artificially created shortage. It is amazing how just thinking there is a shortage of toilet paper causes a shortage of toilet paper as people start buying it in mass. In the past one Comedian accidentally created a toilet paper shortage with a joke.

I take it, that, other than the steel core, the commutator is mainly copper wire and ceramic magnets. Seeing the truly horrible damage it did to the gel block, it's not a round that I'd like to be shot at with - as both parts hit the target separately. Fascinating as always, gents. Thank you.

The way it separated in the gel reminds me of the RIP round. A gimmicky round that's supposed to maximize wound potential with a segmented copper projectile that comes apart inside the target.
@joedoe1096
@joedoe1096 4 жыл бұрын
I had the exact same thought, that's the only other round I've seen do that. And I know they call it "gimmicky" but having 20 small pieces of shrapnel while having a core continue through is actually an incredibly damaging combination. Only one of those needs to hit an artery or something to be lethal, and it's getting a lot of chances.

To the slug maker, braze/weld a thin plate across the back of it and to the copper windings as well. My initial thought is at high power, the steel shaft flat face is providing enough resistance to the air that it is being pulled out of the commuter because it is conical on the end. Another thought is that the larger rear surface area of the commuter is allowing it to accelerate faster in the barrel. Its probably both of them LOL
