Instead of escaping the experience of life, in all its rawness, with all its emotional highs and lows, its joys and hardships, can’t we just enjoy life as it comes, soberly, as much as we enjoy the state of drunkenness? Or simply put: how can we get drunk on life?

currently trying to move from being anxious and feeling the need to do something just for the sake of doing it, like learning something, reading, going somewhere doing something... to just do nothing if I don't feel like doing anything, to stop feeling that weird anxiety when I feel like I should do something. Something like that.

That weird anxiety is likely “social conditioning” telling you that you should be doing this & that with your life - parents, society, teachers, other authority figures, etc.

I started doing the opposite of numbing the pain. I fully and consciously embrace fear, sadness and anxiety. I noticed that when I let go of the resistance and go even deeper into difficult emotions something magical happens. I no longer feel like a victim of whatever is in my mind and it all feels like it's happening to someone else. The observer looks inside and thinks: "Oh, we are sad now". No attachment. No judgement. Just experience.

@@mb8kr yes i'm also struggling with anxiety. 10-30 minutes of meditation every day definitely helped, just sitting there with a straight back and observing my thoughts. @@spiritualityisunderstandin2530 If it did, I wouldn't have stopped drinking, and wouldn't have said I never regret that I never regret 100% sober life. You're not missing out, buddy. 1. Alcohol is 100% bad for your health. It reduces the quality of your life and your lifespan. High is always followed by thirst/dizziness/tiredness/serious intoxication. 2. Alcohol leads to poor decisions. Eating shit food, wasting time, hanging out with wrong people doing stupid shit. 3. Alcohol makes your mind weaker. It helps escape, cope etc. But we must learn to face hardships head-on, overcome them or be at ease with them. We don't have time to pity ourselves in a drunken oblivion. It gives instant pleasure, but takes away long-term fulfillment. It helps communicate, but only on a superficial level. It makes you careless, but numbs your mind and feelings. Never regret your sober lifestyle, mate. Your health is the monument of your life. And your shard mind is.

@LegsON
@LegsON 4 жыл бұрын
@@spiritualityisunderstandin2530 I've been trying to get laid for a good few years, without any success. I've been feeling very insecure about it. VERY. Then I've figured out I'm better off finding a good girlfriend, and then things will work out. I've had my first real intimacy when I was 21,5 years old. I've been dating the girl for good few weeks. I really really liked her, and she liked me. I invited her to my place, played few songs, we got undressed and I got 0 erection, although she was so, so attractive and so willing to do the thing. I was too worried. Funny thing is I wasn't worried of me being bad at sex. I was worried that she doesn't... love me. Cause at the time I felt like I really do love her. Couldn't do anything that night. My dick was a sock. I was really embarrassed. She was alright with it, though. We were cuddling, I played her harmonica (if you know what I mean) and used my fingers. So she got what she needed. :D Then we watched some movie. It was something like 3-4 at night when I confessed that I love her. She said the same. The following morning and from that moment on, it happenned properly, and I was pretty good. :) I quickly became very good with this thing. Cause I really liked her, really wanted to please her and wanted to do A LOT of different things. She even thought for a VERY long time that I'm hell of a Casnova. When I told her she's been my first partner, she's been blown away. I'm 25 now. We're together for 3.5 years. Amazing relationships, amazing girl. I'm on NOFAP path for 2 years. Currently reaching my first 365 days without masturbation mark. So here's my opinion - don't rush sexual experience. 1. It doesn't define your success. Getting laid is easy. Seducing beatiful woman is harder. But if you don't have deep personal connection, the experience will be superficial. That's what others people tell, I can't claim that is in fact true, although I believe it. 2. We're not meant to fuck and cum all the time. Man's strength depends on his ability to preserve sexual energy and transmute it. Sex drains us. Gotta make sure it's worth it, when you engage in it. 3. Sex leads to deep connection. You don't wanna connect with the wrong people. It's both about emotions and safety. 4. Veneric illnesses and pregnancy is no joke. You can always get a "I'm-Not-A-Virgin" medal. But if it had been hard to get, few people would have had it. To the one pursuing wisdom and integrity sex (as a status and pleasure thing) in itself is not valuable. TLDR: Don't strive to get laid. Don't feel any embarrassed about virginity - it is something to honor. Reinvent your sexuality. I advise few channels - Gabe Dawg, Universal Man, Captain Sinbad, Elisha Long. If you happen to have any questions, you're welcome to ask, friend. Glad to be of help.

Spirituality is Understanding follow your morals and only ever do what feels right for you then you’ll never have any regrets. Why ‘get it over with’? Choose when you’re ready, enjoy it and have an incredible experience instead. You’re only 22, you have all the time in the world, take your time and enjoy every second. You’re the only person responsible for your pleasure. Ignore your friends, what they do is their choice, what you do should be your choice alone, free of their influence. Pleasing or following others will not make you happy. You’ll find the person who makes you feel safe and comfortable then you won’t question your choice. Enjoy 😍

I've spent 10 years in isolation after graduating high school. I remember walking home from graduation while all of the other students stayed to take pictures with friends and family. I never felt part of society. I've spent 45 hours on KZbin this week let alone the other apps. My life has become too dull to put into words. I want to "get back into the world" but I don't know how. I see how the world is so easily manipulated to value certain things and destroy others. I'm longing for the nostalgic friendships I had before going into high school. Everything was so simple. We rode bikes everywhere, never needed to call anyone, we just showed up and lived life to the fullest each day. I don't know what happened. All I know is I havent heard from those "friends" in many years after I stopped calling. I'm very appreciative of my mother who has given me her whole heart and supported me and my sister our whole lives. I just found out last year that my dad's gay. Which makes me question, is it even my real dad. I'm lost in this world in more ways than one. My whole life has been a lie. I just want to go back in time and stay there. I've been living with "hope" for years, hoping a friend would show up, a girl, a passion, anything. Thats whats taken me this far. But as the days go on, it seems harder to see the hope. I feel paralyzed with anxiety. I want to go out and make friends but when I do, I'm overcome with negative thoughts and emotions so I usually just end up going home alone. Idk why I'm typing this in the KZbin comment section. Maybe its for someone to read and not feel like they're the only one. Idk. I hope to find meaning in this world and this life because if there's a Heaven, I don't want to be there alone either. Please pray for me if you read this bc I need it. 🙏

You drink the juice of life and it tastes bitter. * I felt a little bit like you, until I noticed: I want to be with people so that they can give me something, but not, conversely, to give *them* something. All I need can only be obtained from *myself* - affection, forbearance, understanding etc. This also means that I have to be _mismatched_ in many ways in order to be true to myself. No matter what others think. I have to endure that. My fellow human beings are only there to receive love and joy *from me* - not the other way around. But only if I want to. :-) _I wish you all the best and love._ 🤗🍀

Hello , it's been two years since you posted this , how are you doing now ? I have also been stuck for a long time after graduating college and will probably keep having these periods of nothingness throughout my life. It's takes all the strength of your soul to find meaning and direction each day when you have to keep waking up to nothing. People can be so cruel about it. I pray for every single person struggling to find meaning in their lives. We will probably never meet but we still know and understand what you are going through.

This is probably the most empowering content I've ever found on KZbin. I've recently gone through massive trauma and horrible circumstances in the military and after spending over the past 6 years drinking everyday something snapped in my head. I stopped drinking completely 5 days ago and have never felt more free, never learned so much about myself. I'm not sure why it has been so easy. Maybe the trauma but even my typical triggers do not effect me. It has been incredibly moving and the lessons taught here have bolstered me and opened my mind in its new clarity to even more understanding of myself. I'm finally starting to do things for myself and not others. I'm finally going to do things I approve of without seeking the approval with others. My military career may end because of my mistakes, and I truly hope it does because I realize it was never for me even though for so long it was my identity. A fresh start I never knew possible has begun, it is overwhelming and beautiful and I'm so lucky to be where I am now.

Hopefully 6 months sober now! I cut alcohol out completely over the last 2 years, and honestly the hardest part is that it's so common when going out. It forced me to think about who I give my time to, and whether they're healthy for me.....crazy how what seems like such a small decision can impact your life so much for the better! I allow myself to drink once in a while in social settings, but 99% of the time I don't even think about it anymore, and bonus - I save tons of money too!

Right. Buddha was a prince, a future king. His father gave him everything possible on this earth to stop him from being a Hermitage as predicted by the royal astrologer but he can't keep Gautam Buddha inside the palace for long and Gautam saw all the misery sadness and reality of life after living life of a prince. So he denounced the world after living luxurious life but he lived life fully awaken after becoming a monk so you can't say that he refused to drank the juice of life infact nobody enjoyed and lived life fully than Buddha in every aspect of life and even after that he denounced the world because this world is after all "Mrityulok" the "world of death" or "dukhalaya" "the house of sorrows" as is said in HINDU scriptures and it's philosophy.

I do think that the message conveyed should be taken into account. Buddha denounced the world, but could only do so after experiencing it fully himself. He lived as life was gifted to him. But, what happens to the living after hearing that what they go through is denounced? They just go numb themselves away from life. They reject what they are, while they really have no choice in the matter. They are alive. I think that rejecting what you are is a more painful empty existence than living it and afterwards, when it ends, being over it. You could say that Buddha mastered the art of letting go once it was time to let go of life.

I'm glad I stumbled onto this, people think I'm strange when I say there's no good, bad, evil there just is. They really get confused when I say I don't follow, rules, regulations, laws etc. I simply follow my heart. Something somehow I figured out. I started learning how to be grateful no matter what. I won't deny that the whole Covid-19 stuff started to get to me, I felt my anger grow over the way that it's been handled. Yet I keep saying, this is a good thing, why, because nothing has changed it's only being exposed. It's when I become resentful and resist what's being exposed I become angry. I understand it's an action of fear, that fear and anger creates illness in my body and leaves me vulnerable. This is when I become judgemental then claim that there's evil. Then become angry with me for giving into the ways of the world. I can go on and on. I'm also aware through all this that it is how it should be. I've been feeling a bit down lately, but I'm aware it's a cycle and it will run its course. I'm grateful for all things, even in those things that feel uncomfortable. I may not care for how they feel, but without it how can I truly know joy. With it, I learn many things about me I otherwise wouldn't know. I'm about living in truth, even if that "truth" is uncomfortable from time to time. Life in all is amazing when you simply learn to let it ride. I'm not always successful, I still get caught up in worldly things. I'm getting better. I'm grateful for this channel, it seems to point out the very things I've been learning on my own. Yea, I'm not alone.

6 Questions which people will ask if you are drunk on life ? 1. Dude, are you taking drugs ? 2. How are you so indifferent to things ? 3. Why are you smiling ? 4. Dont you feel bad about it ( event/person ) ? 5. Is there anything which makes you sad/anxious ? 6 . Are you crazy ? People ask me these questions often, perhaps they are unable to digest that life can be taken as it is and shouldn't be fought or moulded as per our liking . There are things which you cannot change and there are plenty which we can. One should focus on what he or she can change and continue with life.

Humans are always chasining chemical change in their brains, always chasing some type of mental change. This is scientifically proven and if you observe what you feel youll notice that you loose track of space and time in high levels of laughter, orgasm, love, anger. I would say that using alcohol as well as other substances, (in moderation, and that don't harm the body/mind) is part of life. Self control is the key, as soon as one becomes dependent on a substance, they stop living in the present moment and are no longer masters of themselves.

There is a liver enzymes angle that has only been known in the last few years. It may be inherited. If you lack certain enzymes, you cannot drink without it going into addition. I tried every way you can imagine. Vitamins, only certain amounts a day. If you're even thinking that's a good idea, do what I finally did and get help. I started with 12 Step stuff. Therapy is going to be back on the table. Its okay: lots of social workers out there and I can't afford, and may not need to go full-shrink. Many people can drink like Normies. I've been sober for 10m6d8h5m. Just bought a new car and put a bid in on purchasing a house. Metaphysically, I'm on an heroic trajectory towards total enlightenment and self empowerment. Totally worth the abstaining. *Edit* not to say some days don't suck, royally. Some days do. But those day's lessons, if you're aware of the pitfalls therein, are empowering. Be aware of distraction and division. It's a game. And there are tons of bad guys to beat who place traps in your path. Laugh and be aware. It's comical what you can notice and win over once you so much as just seek the knowledge, let alone see it and apply the knowledge. Peace y'all.

Where I come from, there's pubs everywhere, they're nice comfortable places, nice drinks, good buzz food and all that, but I have always kept my distance from pubs because I hate feeling hungover, and I can buy four cans or bottles for the price of two pints... that's when I decide to drink of course. I love getting up early, listening to a podcast and drawing, drinking some tea, do that until about lunch, then wash up and head out into the city, have a big walk and see new things even after 28 years of living there, see some beautiful women, nice weather maybe, pick up some food for dinner, get in, cook it up, light the fire watch maybe a western movie or a Tim Burton film, then to wind down at night I play my piano and listen to a different podcast until I fall asleep. I'm gun ho for every day, things don't always meet my expectations but I won't let that break my spirit. Other days ill learn about history from highwaymen to Edo Period Japan and then walk my dog in the woods. I have depression, I have anxiety and trauma and I promise anyone else out there who does that you can still enjoy life, you have to have an aim you have to discover new things everyday, learn about the old philosophers, learn about the body and the mind, keep acting and be bold, do something that scares you a little. It's ironic that a roller coaster is shown in this video - one of the things I learned in a 12 Step meeting for alcoholics was that life is like a roller coaster, and the best thing you can do is hang on & enjoy the ride. Like a lot of others who wind up going to those meetings I had attempted to numb the pain of life by getting drunk, and it went to a point where instead of me having the alcohol, the alcohol began to have me. After a while you realize that it does not mean you are a bad person, just one who was trying to cope and did not know how far down the wrong path it would lead. It's such a joy to watch new people come in who look sad and unhealthy, and then see them begin to bloom like flowers as they stay away from the alcohol and focus more on living life every day.

I really like Taoism! I actually agree with Buddha that sometimes life is not worth living and life gives more suffering than happiness but the problem is we didn’t have a conscious choice to have this life but was made for us by nature whether we like it or not! As a pessimist I would have chosen not to have life but I am not suicidal hence the only thing I can do is surrender and just go with the flow of life until death takes me naturally! I am learning to care a lot less and the results are so liberating! Some people call it apathy but I call it just naturally living and it’s the only way to truly accept life for what it’s truly worth!

Been drinking and taking various drugs since I was but a child, now about a year sober and I am starting to see what these substances led to. They were a means of escape and only made things worse right after the effects ceased. If you need help, please, seek it out, do not mask the pain with drugs. You are stronger than you think and 100% able to survive what you're going through - it's all meaningful struggle, because it leads to peace. Admitting to yourself that you have a problem requires loads of inner strength which you will need to fight the addiction, depression or whatever else you're fighting. How did you completely miss Lao Tzu's point? Getting drunk itself isn't the problem, being attached to the reasons we choose to get drunk in the first place is. Without those, it is merely another experience in its own right, no less to be judged or resisted against than any other, but to be lived through mindfully and in full awareness. If done that way, you will most likely not even choose to force so much drink down your throat that you don't enjoy it anymore, and become fully unconscious, but you'll freely and automatically stop or get caught up in another flow of life as you go. Alcohol isn't the problem our toxic relationship to it is.

“Life is simply what is. It is a endless show that we all have a part in. At the end of the day, it doesn’t always have to be enjoyed nor does it always have to be suffered. It simply has to be lived.” The final word in the summary statement if changed to ‘watched’ instead of ‘lived’ can make a subtle shift in perspective that can change heaven and earth speaking in Taoist fragrance. Life is the ‘deception’, Buddha recognizes that and therefore want nothing to do with that anymore. LaoZi also recognize the same but his attitude is - that’s a natural play of nature, DaoFaZiRan and therefore doesn’t mind drinking when wine is available. Whereas for Confucius he hasn’t seen that Life is the Divine joke or Leela incorporating the technology of Maya or YinYang illusion. He genuinely thinks that he is the person and personality that is giving wine (life) a taste and decide for or against it. The difference between Confucius vs Buddha and LaoZi is Life is genuinely being lived and so must live ‘righteously’ as opposed to ‘unrighteously’ but that’s within duality [LaoZi chapter 2 when beauty (right) is define ugly (wrong) is also born]. In contrast, Buddha and LaoZi sees life as an “endless show” that the Original Essence call it Dao or Bodhi merely become ‘involved’ only as a witnessing process. They don’t see being actually involved playing “a part in”. Much like watching a dream fully aware that the dream character is not for real. Some say this is seeing through the 3rd eye of wisdom or the Indian Advaita tradition calls it Turiya. There is a subtle difference between Buddha and LaoZi. While Buddha could be said to have dabbled in fire, burnt by it and recognize it as dangerous and want nothing to do with it, LaoZi sees it as the nature of the Dao and make no distinction to go/flow with it (enjoy) or against it (suffer); only watching a passing show. A sort of Neti-Neti. Both succeed in breaking the spell/hypnosis of Samsara (Circle of Life) and recognize the Original Facade to be the source of the passing show (life).

There is a similar story from my culture, I’d like to share here. Once there was a priest, captivated by gangsters. They were having fun teasing him and offered him three choices under pressure. Either he’d drink alcohol, commit adultery or kill a man. After giving it some thought, he chose drinking alcohol, as he thought it is the least harmful. As a result he got drunk, killed the man and slept with the woman. Moral of the story. What is proven to be harmful is always harmful. No need for further personal examination. I don't despise a glass of red wine. Strong and full bodied... Still I get your point. But if you allow me a comment. It's fine for people who have an average life. But this world is far too harsh on many people, and it is another thing altogether if you live on the streets, if you have lost your job, if you have major emotional problems, suffered major injustice etc... For these people society "offers" (at a price of course) no other way out... So, well, it's clearly a social problem, by which I don't mean a problem TO society, but a problem CAUSED by society...

Everyone responds differently to alcohol, and I don't think that no alcohol at all is always necessary. Now I'm not saying that getting drunk is ever a good idea, but some alcohol can let you experience life through a different state of the brain. More social, less filtered, more connected to others. I'd say that's experiencing life in a positive way. But this can only be done responsibly if you are already feeling neutral or good. Drink (moderately) to feel *even* better, but never to feel good.

Alcohol makes me depressed. Which I'm surprised isn't a more common reaction among others considering it actually is a central nervous system depressant. There are much safer and more interesting drugs on this planet than a known carcinogen which is responsible for millions of deaths annually. If you remove the social aspect from the conversation it doesn't seem so pleasant, does it.

No use in blaming alcohol. It's like blaming the existence of food itself for the uproar of obesity. Alcohol, technology, vehicles, food, etc, people misuse all such things, to the point it starts harming them. It's the mindset people need to get rid of. Because even if alcohol itself is wiped off from the Earth, such people will just find something else to waste their lives on.

What are the essence of life ? 1. Acceptance 2. Improvisation 3. Adaptation We should accept what we cannot change, and change what we can . There are no full proof plans for a happy life, there is no particular Mantra for it . We should try our plans and test it, learn from our mistakes and improvise our strategy . We humans are coded to evolve, to adapt to our ever changing surroundings. We should not hinder that natural process by stringent thinking and refusing to change ourself with time and circumstances. Remember the stiffest stick on a tree Is the first to break when the wind blows . One should always be ready for new experiences in life, be it sad or happy, all will pass. Getting stuck to an emotion is not required and healthy. We all have different mental capabilities and environment, and it is very much possible that one might get into negative state of mind, in that case one should always seek help from others and should not feel shy to approach for help .

Or he is digging deeper and using alcohol as a source to do that. People in general have such a mindset of getting too attached to one thing, to numb out other things. That is what the issue is. Alcohol, food, sex, etc, are the common things that such people use, to numb out other parts of life itself. Which seems like it keeps them from experiencing pain, but what they don't see is, it stops them from experiencing life itself. So this person probably has a problem with that toxic mindset that's being pursued by millions of people.

Everything becomes exciting once you start living in present, stop daydreaming. Do something boring for a while with intent, while doing don't think about how boring it is or when it's gonna end, focus on the rythm and sensations. You'll notice that you've become calmer.
