To tap or not to tap! For me it's sometimes essential. Specifically in the context of my band. We have no drummer (three-piece electro-acoustic) so the tempo can vary. However, like you Antoine, I rarely use it in my ambient guitar compositions. Sometimes though it can be interesting to experiment with different subdivisions for percussive parts.

Like this useful video! Could you make a video about how to use tap tempo properly with a few examples of the famous songs. Thanks in advance!

I agree with you, that I use the tap tempo occasionally, I would rather have it on the pedal than not. It is especially good when I dont feel like bending down to change it! 😊 all the reasons were good!

Pretty obvious but I love how you broke it down into 4 reasons. I definitely need a tap tempo because of all the reasons you mentioned. I just don't know which one.

Thanks for the honest reasons for why you do and DONT need one. Super helpful

Good video Antoine! I play in a Rush tribute band where it isn't really necessary for precise delays. However, I also play at a church where we play contemporary Christian music where delays (and reverbs) are a must. For my part, rather than depend on Tap Tempo I preset the delays for each song via my Fractal FX8 and/or my Kemper profiler. Yeah, bit more expensive than pedals but also very convenient and versatile. Thanks for your video, it does give me inspiration for my channel!

Great comment! Gotta love some Rush!! I made a cover of Freewill a few years ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpnTlpqNnql9gKM

You sir get a 'like' for simply playing in Rush tribute band. Antoine gets another 'like' for his cover of Freewill. Alex Lifeson is a master of many things. Not least his musical use of delay.

Rush is awesome! I saw them in Germany some time ago, they were 3 guys and an orchestra in the background. Really awesome!😊

@@AntoineMichaudGuitar Great job! It's one of the favorites for our audience (band has been together for 30+ years). I have an entire playlist dedicated to how to play many Rush songs (haven't got to Freewill yet, hmmmmm): kzbin.info/aero/PLZy2JJfT_30K5kTqmHNxsRzxbiFnmTmge

Gilmour never used it Eric Johnson doesn’t use it as they are filling out solos and rythmn with echo. Two pedals are very useful . Maybe a analogue and a digital .

Here’s what I don’t get. Justin Chancellor often uses flanger and delay simultaneously. Presumably because he uses these effects in songs, he would want them both tap tempo’d. But his flanger and delay pedals are boss pedals, so without midi clock how would he tap tempo them both? Does he turn his foot sideways and hit them both at once? Confused af

I have a DiG, it's absolutely wonderful, been on my board since they released. I had a Deluxe Memory Man...but it doesn't have tap tempo. And it wasn't reliable, was very expensive and old...but it didn't have tap and that was the deal breaker.

I got new delay pedal, and didn't even realize it didn't have tap. Guess i didn't care.
