I don’t know if this is a UK vs US thing but I’d say a 44 / 44 steerer tube *is* tapered - they’re designed for tapered forks. You fit a standard ZS44/EC44 headset and off you go. In fact I had to get an adapter for my last build to allow me to fit an actual straight steerer (1 1/8”) fork in a 44/44 headset.

Have to jump back in. Thats full face helmet is sick. Its probably safe to say its time to retire the Oneal. Check the original manufacturer tag in the helemet. If its over 5 years old, its time to retire. The eps liners aren't safe after 5 years.

Some brands make a big deal that their bike has a tapered headtube and then use an adapter on the bottom of the headtube so they can put in a cheaper straight fork. A bit sneaky I think😒

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS we are completely Indiscriminate in our use of pretty much any measurement system.. but a rough guide: Travel distances = miles Length = feet & inches or meters, centimetres & millimetres Volume = litres or fluid ounces, pints & gallons Weight = stones, pounds & ounces or kilograms and grams Metric tonnes or imperial long tons or imperial short tons It’s a pain in the butt especially as metric is all base 10 but imperial can be base 12, base 14 or base 16

hey guys. i pulled the trigger on the Rockshox Domain 160mm earlier today. I grabbed it for $260 from Backcountry. Weirdly enough the 160, 170 and 180mm versions are $260 while the 150mm version is $318.00. Wish me luck, I'm upgrading from a 120mm Rockshox Recon RL. I also had to go ahead and buy a boost thru-axle front wheel. The fork and wheel arrive next week, along with my Poseidon Norton frame. I'm thinking of doing a build video, if so I'll drop a link for you. I'd like to know what you guys think of the build.

Got it! Always lube your head when working on your union, royce or otherwise. Why only install the star nut if you don't plan on using the fork again? Can't you remove & replace the star nut if needed? Forks are the one thing I've never touched but hope to change that someday. I'm curious if you can see your e-bike display with polarized lenses. Some displays are polarized so with polarized glasses the display looks blank. Don't sweat your pace Wolf. You're covering decent miles in the wild & that's impressive enough. Your new gearing won't help with top speed but you'll be able to climb walls, with sticky enough tires;) Love that LED helmet. Having light wherever you look is game changing. I usually attach lights to my helmet but having them installed is BUENO! Enjoy the e-board.

can remove the star nut but it's a pain is the @$$ and involves drilling out the center of the nut then prying the flanged parts up and popping it out. A better option might be an expansion plug. It works just like a star nut but is totally removable and reuseable. Infact expansion plugs are used on carbon steerer tubed forks because a star nut would damage the carbon.

Manitou Markhor (M30) and Machete Comp comes in 120mm travel, tapered steerer, 15*110mm Boost bolt-thru. You'll probably want to fit one of the ABS+ dampers available afterwards of it came with the Kwik Toggle damper.
